Thanks for coming back to them. They are my favorite band. Not above constructive criticism (they critique themselves) and just a hard working, talented bunch of great people.
Reincarnation (輪廻, Rinne) is a 2005 Japanese horror film, directed by Takashi Shimizu. They wrote this song after seeing the movie. It's filmed in 8mm like the Villain does in the movie, trying to capture the spirit leaving the body while killing his victims. I think they did this song after some folks commented that they are a "poppy" band. That's why they say "Shut-up" at the end, Po!
Still Hard Rock imxo, but their music has heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. What a band, huh? Thx again, David!
Rinne ... means reincarnation CRITICS: you guys ain't hard enough BAND MAID: here hold our pigeons ... Their latest album, Unseen World, is about 50% prog rock. KANAMI TONO - LEAD GUITAR - plays PRS Custom 24 (PRS Endorsement) - Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier. - Writes the music (one interview she states that she has a database - 2 years worth?!?!) Misa - BASS GUITAR plays Black Cloud "Smoker" and Privat Reserve (SG Style) bass - (Black Cloud Endorsement) Orange AB200B MKIII Amps Akane Hirose - DRUMS - Plays TAMA drums with Zildjian Cymbals - Roland KD-A22 (Possibly an Endorsement with TAMA and ROLAND) Saiki - VOCALS - Sennheiser microphones and DPA Microphones
This was Band Maid's response to being told that they weren't able to play metal. I think you will really enjoy their most recent album (Unseen World). I wouldn't say that it is a metal album, but they certainly have some heavier and harder songs on it. Give No God or Black Hole a try. Thanks for a fun reaction!!
Glad you liked it and great reaction, I love the harmonics in the main riff and that bass run after the guitar solo. You'll definetly like their newer album (especially the second half of it) it has a lot more "metal" songs, one of them being their fastest song they ever did. The direction this band is taking is actually great, their song are more and more complex as their skills are improving a lot.
Band-Maid does what ever they want, metal, hard rock, punk, grove metal, they won’t be pigeon holed (pun not intended). I would like to see you check out the live they put out of Manners/Black Hole. Nice reaction, very well done sir.
Loved the score David. The first time I heard this I loved it. I love almost every single song this band has put out, but this one really grabbed me. Their latest stuff is just awesome.
In an interview, Akane once described the following situation between her and Kanami: Kanami asked her: What is the highest bpm you can play on the drums? Akane answered: 170, maybe 180. After that, Kanami sent her a demo that required somewhere between 190 and 200 bpm. :) I wouldn't be surprised if it was the demo for 'Rinne'. I really like Kanami's humour and her talent for pushing others forward along with herself. 🤘🏻 【 'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!' - from BAND-MAID 'Manners' 】🕊️
Great review! It's good to see you revisiting this awesome Band. This band has many shades to their sound which can become difficult at times to peg them into a particular category. They have a large and diverse catalog where each track holds a different signature creating a unique imprint from each other. With this band no one can ever claim boredom. It could be one of reasons they have such a devoted fan base myself included. Of all the bands I have sampled from Japan, I place Band-Maid above them all. Its not to diminish the others, in fact they are high my playlist. Rather I feel unlike the others Band-Band sounds like no other and have that "IT FACTOR" that very few bands have.
MISA MISA MISA! when this song dropped it instantly became my No1 song of Band-Maid and in my top 10 all time songs but as with all thing Band-Maid that has changed still in my top 5 BM songs but not top still in my top 10 of all time.
They are an impossible hardrocking band... But they cover so many genres, they have their own genre... punk, funk, rock, metal, jazz, hardrock, pop... They don´t care about genres, but MAINLY they are hardrock oriented, i would say :) This song is metal for sure!
Yes , this is vicious Band Maid, bass is insane and the climax of the solo with Kanami and Akane running up that scale at the end was a mind fuck moment for me. So glad you liked this. Amazing thing about these girls is they can slay you with this , and then turn around and rip your heart out with a ballad like About Us. This why they stand head and shoulders above most other bands.
If you like this song, I would recommend "screaming", but unfortunately there is only Fancam. So I recommend Blooming (Official Music Video), Manners, BLACK HOLE (Official Live Video)!
Never have I heard a band that blends so many styles so well. Been listening to them for about a year now and still in very much in love. The talent level is off the charts. Akane blows my mind. Thank you David for another great reaction. I agree with you on the effect on Saikis vocals. Just a very minor gripe with the song. Otherwise, definitely a killer tune.
I agree with your comments, they seem to be able to accel at anything they want. This is a great song, I like the Kanami kick at the start of the solo. Great reaction, thanks!
Oh, and you got the drummer (Akane), bassist (Misa) and Miku right. Miku is rhythm guitar, backing vocals and the lyricist. The lead vocalist is Saiki and Kanami plays lead guitar and writes the music.
If you’re going to learn one name- it’s Kanami, and I love MISA. She’s the songwriter (at least on the last 3 records and part of the fourth), lead guitar. Also, Miku writes the lyrics. I’m not sure how she is so good at mixing the English and Japanese. BAND-MAID has a song for just about anyone. If you want a beautiful pop song, About Us. Daydreaming has a U2 feel. No God is a straight up Motörhead back beat. Manners is 70s Rock/Funk. For people who say they sound like an anime soundtrack, Different is the opening song for Log Horizon. glory gives me a Skid Row vibe. My favorite BAND-MAID song is whatever was the last one I listened to.
I've seen this before, so maybe I'm missing something, but which song from Unseen World was not written by Kanami? I know that some of the members come up with cool riffs that Kanami will incorporate into a song, but I'm not aware of a song on UW actually written by someone else (unless this is what you mean?).
It is funny...the last BM song you reacted to was Warning and you said it was pushing the line from Hard Rock into Metal and then you reacted to a song where they crossed that line.
I remember Akane (the drummer) saying that it was her first time playing this fast on dubbel peddle. She practiced a lot to make it work and even kept practicing after it to be able to master it for live plays. FFW: Then came the song Different that also required the same thing and she braced herself for it... but she fought that woulf be the end, than Kanami (lead guitarist) told her that in the future albums she wants more speed. Akane is like a beast practicing hard just to make sure she is up to it when the time comes 🥲
I suggest manners and black hole as well as no God for some of the newer stuff. Manners is more rock but the others are....mmmm Bandmaid being Bandmaid.
It's fun when people think BAND-MAID fit into one genre and then face-plant after hearing something raw and racing like 'Rinne', or get swept away on an emotional wave by 'About Us'. BAND-MAID are the masters, we are but the students.
Best reaction ever. "Be a man!" - lol. Yeah this song's a banger. This band does surprise. Oh, and if you really want to get mind-f'd go check out Page off the same album. The song was written to be played at weddings, and it's pretty much a pop-rock song (and a good one at that).
For as "often" you react to Band Maid, you're doing well with the names. The other 2 are Saiki (lead vocals) and Kanami (Lead guitar and main song writer). You have only reacted to a small % of their material. Band Maid are "essentially" a rock band, but they play in and outside the rock genre "sphere".
THE best live Rock band on Earth. Just for a moment, forget they're all female and forget they're dressed as maids. Two members (MISA - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained pianists and musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. OK, now that's explained, you can go back and marvel at how cute those outfits look and how incredibly beautiful all the band members are. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal (🦊🦊 Was hoping you'd be exploring them a bit too after your Gimme Choco reaction 🦊🦊). I don't even like this song as a fan, but the fact that you try to learn the names is admirable. Sometimes it's hard to remember names that you're familiar with, like Jim, and Bob, but to remember names in another language takes more effort lol. Band-Maid's style of metal will still be their style, with melodic choruses and break downs :)
Don't know if you know, but Band-Maid will be in Kate on Netflix next month. They're in the trailer for a second or two and will have two confirmed songs in the movie.
Kanami stepped over the line for this one because some people were saying they probably cant play real metal, the SHUT UP at the end was for those people
Its pronounced "Ree" + "Neh" (kinda like "meh" but dont pronounce the h sound). Japanese pronunciation is a lot more Latin sounding than it is English/Germanic, so its quite different in that regard.
Song 5, a bit better, but ultimately still the same for me. Still love the drums and bass, however my disappointment with the guitars is starting to clarify. I don't really know how else to express it, but they feel "cloudy" to me, as if the two guitars are playing at slightly different times and thus fighting for dominance and creating continuous sounds with no real separation of notes and started to become noise. I found it very distracting. I'm not a music expert, so I don't really understand the difference between hard rock and metal. To me they are shades of essentially the same genre. Metal is just hard rock pushed to its logical conclusion, so I never understand the surprise when a "hard rock" band plays a song that is "metal."
I've actually already done a reaction video to "Manners", here's a link to the reaction video: ua-cam.com/video/B3Zdo-UXOzE/v-deo.html. "Black Hole" is already in the que, added your name to the requesters.

Band-Maid's style of metal will still be their style, with melodic choruses and break downs :)
Cant wait till you get to Doll$Box
Moratorium is a pretty heavy song kinda old Metallica era ride the lightning / master of puppets try and find live version on billi billi
Don't know if you know, but Band-Maid will be in Kate on Netflix next month. They're in the trailer for a second or two and will have two confirmed songs in the movie.
Thanks for You honest reaction !
The newer songs are heavier....:-)
The Far East saving rock (or metal, whatever tf these ladies want to play).
Next pls. Angel of Salvation by Galneryus the live version.
That one is epic... Like Versailles / Faith and Decision or Gyze / Oriental Symphony
For Band-maid , nex reaction "DICE" !!!
Already in the que, added your name to the requesters.

Kanami stepped over the line for this one because some people were saying they probably cant play real metal, the SHUT UP at the end was for those people
Check out bloody Mary as well
Hey David, have you reacted or reviewed any song by Unleash the Archers yet? The Northwest Passage cover is amazing.
One of the Gold Tier Patreon members actually prioritized a song by them for September, so it'll be coming out next month.
@@THEDavidHeretic Nice, will be watching for sure!
👍 That about sum's it up
Quando hai voglia,e tempo, dai un occhiata anche a Hibana e Unfair game:,2 brani pazzeschi!!!Ascoltare per credere...
LOVEBITES do have a rock song :)
They throw out all genres out the window. They play what ever they like and pick up pieces of genres they throw out and mesh them all together.
Metal is just hard rock pushed to its logical conclusion, so I never understand the surprise when a "hard rock" band plays a song that is "metal."
try to react manners/ blackhole thie new release video this well blow your mind... this two song you can see how diverse and dynamically good
I've actually already done a reaction video to "Manners", here's a link to the reaction video: ua-cam.com/video/B3Zdo-UXOzE/v-deo.html.
"Black Hole" is already in the que, added your name to the requesters.
@@THEDavidHeretic Yes you did and you made some comments about what Manners may be like live. Well....here it is live and the bass is so very tasty. Then there is Black Hole. It sucks you in and doesn't let go.

I don't see that one in the que, so it would have to be a fresh request. You can suggest songs on here, and if your suggestion happens to already be in the que, I am more than happy to add your name to the requesters of that song. However in order to make fresh brand new requests, you have to be a Bronze Tier member on the Patreon page. It's only $5 per month and you can make fresh requests, along with watch all the videos I've done that UA-cam blocked and participate in Patreon community events and enjoy exclusive content for Patreon members only.
Sorry, this is not Metal! This is clean made studio shit...
