CORRECTION it's HOLE IN YOUR SOUL not SOLE...lol sorry guys
It’s fine
When it comes to ABBA the word surprise shouldn't be there they always the unexpect hehe😁😉😊
The nice thing about this sing is that we hear all 4 voices. Even Benny sings a bit
Benny ans Bjorn met each other first becasue both were Beatles fans
Dereck !!!please you have must to react to live version ua-cam.com/video/eu3hq_jFAOM/v-deo.html
The greatest group ever...bar none.
Absolutely!
The Gods Of Pop!! ♥
I'm so glad to hear that from so many people to this day. Many people make fun of them, but they sold millions of records.
Its not because you love them that they're the best, they sure are my favorites too but its subjective, there are a lot more bands that did way more for the music industry than abba such as Queen, The Beatles or Led Zeppelin
@@Garsdevolley Fair point.
The live Wembley version of this song is beyond phenomenal. Possibly the most uplifting end to a concert in history.
These women...are juggernauts in vocals ...the girls trying to replicate Anna's & Frida's voices on the voyage show...say they _ are overwhelmed with just trying ...wow...even the ABBA girls voices in their seventies are huge..
HUGE..
🌈💚🐝🦋🐾😇🧡💛
Watch the Live at Wembley version. Its incredible. It’s on UA-cam.
I love the live version. I was there Nov 9th 1979. It was amazing the other one totally great live is Summer Night City.
"The Way Old Friends Do" from there as well.
The look on your face when Agnetha hit that note was priceless.😁
Frida's voice in the "ahaaa..." parts is so soothing to listen to.
But my favourite part happens to be Agnetha's squealing, which is the apex of the whole song...
Yessss. DERECK you did it. Hole in Your Soul. The more you dig deeper into Abba's music you will find hidden gems like this one.
*It puzzles me so much why GEMS like this were not released as a single ... siggghhh.*
*n my opinion ABBA the Album is a solid album with many powerful songs. In fact Thank You For The Music was also not released as a single. Pls correct me if I am wrong*
Told you you'd be blown away by Agnetha's range!!
Btw. Agnetha's voice is soprano and Frida mezzo soprano. Unique sound.
She’s got at least a 4 octave range.
Yes, that was Agnetha in the high note! You could definitely check their live version in Wembley Arena, 1979!
You can also react to the live version of "Hole In Your Sole" of a concert in London 1979
I prefer the live version than the studio of the song
With every ABBA album you don't get a theme, you get a spectrum of emotion. Timeless
Great Abba review as always! The whole album is fantastic, please review ‘Move On’
This is the track where you can really see the difference in Agnetha and Frida’s voices. It’s unbelievable how high Agnetha goes and she replicates it well on the live version.
Time to check out another surprise from the same album, "I'm A Marionette."
Great tune!!!
And the folky "Move On". Beautiful album!
@@danbal4185 "Move On" was also done in Spanish, called "Al Andar." It would be great to see Dereck react to both versions!
it's a bit scary xD
The live version is way better than the studio
Yes, it’s Agneta hitting the high note. She hit even higher notes in some other songs. This is one of my favourite Abba songs.
That is the highest note she has ever hit in this song.
love Agnetha's scream
Tiger on the Arrival album ends on a great high note too.
@@helanne001 "Here is your brother" has this one too, performed in Australia live
She also sings pretty damn high in "Dancing Queen" after "tambourine...oh yeah" during the second chorus.
The Album is one of their best - every song is a gem. And the first album I ever bought! I still have the original vinyl.
The Album imo is by far the musically best and most progressive album... Everything on there.. catchy pop Take A Chance On Me, synths on Eagle, depths on Name Of The Game, a little kitsch on Thank You For The Music, folklore on Move On, rockballad One Man One Woman (my fave), Rock with this one, big ballad I Wonder, experimental I'm A Marionette....
Agree. Abba at their peak. There was not a single track I did not love on that album
@@guyinnyc1 yep and now I Wonder, Eagle and The Name Of The Game rank all in my ABBA top 10 if not Top 5.... and all of those were not my faves back then when i was 12 years old...
The Album was Abba's best album
Nothing kitsch about "Thank you for the music". It's great anthemic song. It has intriguing verses (smart lyrics, actually), wonderful piano by Benny and uplifting life-affirming chorus. Imho, it's one of best songs on that peak ABBA album.
@@robertwill23 you really wanna argue about no kitsch or a little kitsch ? come on
We told you.
Try Should I Laugh or Cry and Cassandra.
fantastic son with Frida as leadvocal
Oh yeahhh Should I Laugh or Cry is fantastic, Frida it's my very favorite 🤤
I like the fact that you love Agnetha but especially on this track Frida's vocals are very important. Especially in the slow bit it is Frida that leads.
The live version of this song is STUNNING!
Hi Dereck, terrific review, love your reaction! With ABBA, the word that springs to my mind is joy. Beautifully produced, flawlessly performed joyful music.
'My love my life' is one of ABBA's best tracks
I think the same
I love hoe ABBA- The Album gives us more Benny Andersson vocals, here in Hole In Your Soul and the track Move On we here a rare vocal appearence and I love that. You also seem to be a kind of Agnetha lover and I totally understand, she is such a great high vocal.
My mother and I always loved the warm and tender voice of Anni-Frid from wich my mother drew off of, when singing a song like I Let The Music Speak ( I recognise a lot of Anni-Frid ( Frida) ways of approaching in singing certain tones, when my mother used to sing...both vocals sounded warm and tender. So thank you for putting up this awesome video of ABBA and letting me dig into my memories, Dereck.
Oh, I always loved this song from the album when it was first released. Great to see a new generation discovering...
Watching your expression on Agnetha's top note was a picture to behold. Stunned!
You should watch the live version of this song at Wembley in 1979. It's good. 👍
I love this song! One of the best arranged and recorded song of ABBA.
Your reaction to this song was infectious. I've always liked this track and seeing your enthusiasm for it brought those feelings back from when I first fell in love with it. That angelic bridge!
Dereck great reaction. Wembley
Abba Live Hole in your soul and does your mother know. You should check it out
This song was Agnethas best ever performance live and 'why did it have to be me' live was fridas.
Love that song, why did it have to be me/Happy Hawaii 😁
Why did it have to be me Australian live concert Frida owned that performance
Yeah this is one of the hidden gems of their catalogue .. the vocal histrionics here were never repeated I think. This is them flirting with hard and theatrical rock. And just being gorgeous in the process.
ABBA were fun .. and still are.
Great song! Always loved it. Agnetha slays that high note. Live version at Wembley is good.
They did quite a few rock influenced songs in their early days. Check out He Is Your Brother, King Kong Song and So Long to name but a few.
Their live version of Hole in Your Soul is amazing! And yes she does hit that high note.
I can’t wait for you to react to that.
I absolutely love your reactions to Abba as I am such a big Abba fan!
So Long is the rock song by Abba that you can react to; try the Swedish Export version for the video -- different side revealed.
Hey Hey Helen is quite different too
@@guymoffitt totally agree, one of my favourite music videos that one!
ABBA would probably have people forget King Kong Song tbh, though yes it certainly does fit the bill.
Hey hey Helen
It's a shame that you didn't react to the more incredible live version of this song their performance in wembly arena UK will totally blow u away. Btw this song is the band's answer to their critics back in the day, the line the songs u sing are too romantic and they all spit in your eyes speaks for it
3:00 It's both Björn and Benny singing that part. Benny does that deeper voice.
Your ABBA reactions are the best in the whole UA-cam
Always LOVED this one.
One of my all time ABBA favorites.
If you watch the live version of this song you'll hear and see agnetha hitting that note x
Much too bad - simply too little played this fantastic song. Abba has so many beautiful songs, but on the radio they always play the same songs. I really love this one !
It has been such a joy from you going from noticing Agnetha’s beauty in ‘knowing me, knowing you’, to calling her ‘Anna’, to calling her Agnetha, perfectly. I’m so enjoying watching your ABBA journey xo
I think Benny is the deeper sounding voice and Björn the higher one. It’s all 4 of them singing.
Check out the live version of this song.AMAZING.
Thanks dereck this is my favorite abba song and your right it’s not your typical abba song I’m 58 years old so thanks for posting love abba
"I've Been Waiting for You" by ABBA, please.
But than live in Australia
Loved your 'oh my God' moment when Agnetha screams.
I love watching you hear these amazing tracks for the first time. This whole album is incredible.
The deep voice you hear in the back is Benny.
hello look at the live version at Wembley 1979 that version is incredible, greetings abba a great group forever
U reacted to the wrong version. The "live" version is the best! AGNETHA!!!!!!!
I think this album has the best sound production with 'The Visitors' a close 2nd. [To my ears of course!]. If I were to choose I would say the early albums recorded at Metronome studio's are the best sounding overall.
You took me straight back to being a child in the 70’s, poncing about in the living room with this blasting out on the record player. Such happy memories.
Can only agree with all the other comments - you will LOVE the 1979 live version. It’s more up-tempo and there’s so much energy on the stage, one of their finest moments! 🎶
Agnetha is incredible vocally.
That's what ABBA does to you - leaves you spellbound!!!
Four mounths later
and All ABBA fans wait for your reaction to live perfomance in London 1979
You promise Dereck, please, did it
you will enjoy this more than any other reaction
I love Derecks reaction to Agnethas high tone at 4:50...
Agnetha y su Si natural sobre agudo y con voz plena, nada de falsete. Por algo la llamaban la Soprano del pop.
Dereck, try to react "Move on" from ABBA please. You will be the 1st one.
It's as if Abba were many bands in one, since, although there"s an identity, their tracks sound very different from each other. Hole in your soul is not an epic track, but it's nice anyway...
@Marvin Morawski Nah, I think "Hole In Your Soul" is one of the best tracks on this album, along with "Move On", "Eagle", "The Name Of The Game" and "Take A Chance On Me"... all 9 tracks are great and varied.
Hole In Your Soul is one of ABBA's best songs
Yes indeed! But the problem is that the more you listen to ABBA, you will find more and more best songs. I´m up in about 20...
I especially love the electric guitar- heavy ending, I always used to turn the volume up at that point. One of abba's rockiest songs.
HEY HEY HELENE .Good rock.
This was pegged as the first single from The Album but was shelved for The Name Of The Game.
I’m a lifelong ABBA fan and it’s been awesome finding your channel. I love seeing how you reactive to one of their best songs - and other songs. I know we talk about ABBA but I still feel they’re underrated. The voices, music construction, lyrics, harmonies, clever and complex musicality deserves much more recognition
How many times Dereck...do you say "differant" about ABBA ...?....WHAT MORE CAN ANYONE SAY .....GENIUS ! ....🌈💚😇🎈
I think you've delved deeper into the ABBA catalogue than any other reactor on UA-cam. Yet, they still continue to surprise you, and fans continue to send you even more recommendations. It just shows how EPIC this band is! LOL 😁😁
Absolutely 😉
When I first heard this in 1977, I was glad Agnetha didn't blow her temples out on that high note. You should give a listen to Put On Your White Sombrero which was to be on the Super Trouper album instead of Super Trouper.
I haven't even watched it yet but I'm going to like it because I know you will!
I am so sad that this song is not popular, in 80-s really nothing ... but in these these days = pure treasure.
I Love it 😍💯💥🤩✌️
Mach bitte weiter Dereck mit den
Song's von ABBA,wenn es mir schlecht geht schaue ich mir das an
und dann geht mir das❤️ auf!!!
Thank You so much ‼️
Every ABBA SONG HAS A PERSONALITY . All their own ....
A Wonderful song..rocklike sound...like the blending of the two ladies...Magic...I like the backing vocals / second boice they are magnificent on doing second voice backing vocals...Awesome...💖💛💙😊😀🤩😁
The whole ABBA package is pure musical genius
ABBA are the Beatles of Sweden, I've always liked the Swedish Beatles better than the original !!
Live at Wembley has more energy.
omg i think i may have requested this ages ago!! SO GOOD
Oh yes, one of those brilliant deep cuts. The drop - just drums and Agnetha belting!
I WONDER ,FROM THE SAME ALBUM IS BRILLIANT
Abba goes glam rock, check it out!
Benny regrets that one, "Watch Out" from the "Waterloo" album.
Love watch out 👍
But I prefer that weird ambiance in Suzy hang around and my mama said,
Waterloo is very good album 👍
Abba were unique. A band like this only happening once in a 10.000 years, no doubt. ✨🕺❤️
You need to watch their medley live of Does Your Mother Know and Hole in Your Soul
Please react to their song "The Arrival" and prepare to be blown.
😊 Nice reaction Dereck! They’re amazing aren’t they?! So many different types of sounds that they gifted us fans during the way too brief height of their career. I always particularly loved this song because they use my name in the lyrics “Jerry works at the office”. I like to think Benny and Björn were sending out a message of thanks to me as a kid for being their biggest U.S. fan! Hahahaha! If you like the “rock” sound of ABBA check out these songs “Hey, Hey Helen”, “Rock Me” and “So Long”. ABBA songs with a little bit more of an edge. Keep reacting to ABBA, it’s fun watching you experiencing and most of all APPRECIATING their genius. ❤️
"Hey, Hey Helen" is one that many haven't heard. Yes, very much a rock anthem for women!!! Love it!
Thx for the nice reaction from a real ABBA-fan.......so you finally got it
Try ABBA in their early years with the glamrock-song "Hey Hey Helen" or the sweet poppy "What About Livingstone"
Btw..."Elaine" is also a very nice song...one of my favorites
Elaine "you're like a goldfish in a bowl" Love that song
Sole... that's a mistake...this was slated for single release but for reasons unknown was dropped and.. take a chance on me.. released. This song complexity knows no bounds and is one of my favourites.. check out .. I'm a marionette..from the album..and the track...Tiger ..from arrival..as ever a pleasure..
A mistake it what way?
It was going to be the first single, instead of The Name Of The Game.
@@visitor1982 Sorry but that it wrong information. This song formed part of a mini musical and was never intended to be released as a single.
My favourite rock-ABBA is the fastest and craziest ABBA song, but never recorded on studio, only hearable in the ABBA movie: GET ON THE CAROUSSEL! Check it please… Same time that song very self reflective, and trying to crying about the destructive situation of the constant concert-life, like a caroussel. That song and I’m a marionette are the last cry for helps before they marriages started collapsing, the marionette song is very sharp and painful to hear, so clear, so self unveiling…
tiger is a good song too from the arrival album.
Live Australia, what an opener it was
Great reaction to one of ABBA's rockier moments thank you! I suggest it's high time to check out Bjorn's lead on "Rock Me"!!! x
Yes, there are an amazing experience concert from Wembley Arena. The intro was used for the Abba the Movie intro.
You absolutely need to react to the live version of this song (1979, live at Wembley). When Agnetha hits that high note you noticed in this studio version? It's so much better.
You should really react to ‘I’m A Marionette’ next!
Please check out the live performance at wembley 1979 of this song, they take the song to another level 😁
At 4:50 Agnetha lets her high range rip amazing .
I can't believe I first heard this song over 40 years ago! Lol!
“Rock Me” has Björn on lead vocals and the way that he sings remind me of “Schools Out” by Alice Cooper!
Please, "Whatch Out" de ABBA
La armonía de esas dos voces es única y no creo que sea superada jamás 🎶🎵🎼🎶🎵🎼
Deep Abba cut...good choice
Dereck, you like this one, then check out "Get on the carousel" or "I'm a marionette" Life in Australia '77. Greetings from Germany
