Yeah fantastic! They have so much in their repertoire. Amazing that they can do great fun high energy songs like these and also brilliant darker emotional songs like The Winner Takes it All and The Day Before you Came.
Pleased you mention ABBA's studio musicians Dereck, many of whom toured with them. Your correct it is the late Ola Brunkert on drums and you briefly see Frida dance with bass guitarist, the late Rutger Gunnarrsson, both extremely talented musicians who play on most of ABBA's records. During the Does Your Mother Know guitar solo Agnetha and Frida wrap themselves around guitarist Lasse Wellander who was another very regular musician ABBA worked with in the studio.
Loved this reaction. Have you done 'I have a dream' live from the same 1979-concert? They were also great live in the Dick Cavett tv-show from 1981, less visual energy, Frida seemed sad (just right after Benny left her), but wonderful vocal performances in for instance 'Me and I', 'Summer Night City' and 'Super Trouper'.
I've been following your ABBA journey for over a year now and since you've reacted to some Agnetha and Frida solo stuff, I think it's time you discover the greatness of Benny and Björn's songwriting skills outside of the ABBA bubble. The rock opera masterpiece CHESS is a must! I recommend checking out 'One Night in Bangkok'.
Summer night city live at wembley, and also live at another concert - may have been the dick cavett show, are absolutely brilliant. They also have a magical long intro that is just stellar! Glad you had so much fun with this one Dereck! I always do every time I watch and listen!
Yes, almost every tune played at that "Dick Cavett show" was great. Although in reality recorded live in their hometown Stockholm (in front of a very young audience in a tv-studio).
So much high energy! Love it! I have only been recently introduced to the song “A Hole In Your Soul” and what a good pop rock song! ABBA can’t disappoint imo.
Check out "Lovelight" - that one was supposed to be released on Voulez-Vous album but was left out and became a B-side on "Chiquitita" single. Another hidden gem from ABBA.
Also there are absolutely other live performances that just rock with energy. There's some brilliant on and on and on's as one song example in another few live performances that I have to find to link. And the whole Dick Cavett live show was spetacular.
13:42 That other young pianist is Anders Eljas. He was also something of "musical secretary" in later projects, helping writing down Benny's improvisations and arrangements. Their bass player Rutger Gunnarson (kissed by Frida here) had a similar role during the Abba years.
In order to get the wall of sound effect that they had on recorded songs they had to have multiple instruments. I hope you continue so I can consider going back. I really do. I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do.
The energy is through the roof, good stuff, great musicians!✌🕺🇸🇪❤ Btw, if you like ABBA's stage costumes - they're created by zoologist Owe Sandström who designed ALL ABBA's stage outfits while working as a high school teacher, went with them on tour in the 70's and then returned to his job as a teacher. He still works as a teacher and teach about animal and about the respect of animals. There's a lot of material of him as such here on UA-cam👍 Please give him all your love, he's a typical humble and kind Swedish not making any noise about himself and his achievements❤🇸🇪
AꓭBA was a great live band. I hate when people say otherwise. Perhaps they are used to watching their favourites lip synch at “live” concerts. Gimme Gimme Gimme at this concert is brilliant.
I expected you to go bananas with Hole in Your Soul. It's very upbeat and happy.... or is it? Like most Abba songs it has a darker message: "You paint your world and use all colours And then you find it all comes out too bright You know it's only a lie The songs you sing are too romantic And when you want the truth They only spit in your eye Oh yeah, they're only telling you lies" That bridge is amazing. Wow. Your life of excess isn't true. But when you want the truth, no one gives it to you. What a performance, what a song, what delivery. Yeah, it was all right for sure.
Hi Dereck,oh my God!I've been waiting for so long.No matter.I also go bananas or I'm going crazy.I really love you.How like a Friend.I hope it is not to much for you. When i say that.Oh my God!!! I 'm so happy!I love you!You know what i mean!Thank you so much! You are the BEST!!!!!By😄😄😄😄😄😄😃📣🎉📣🎉📣🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😄😄😄😃💝
13:46 Yes, it is Ola Brunkert on drums as well as Åke Sundqvist on drums/percussion here. (They also used Roger Palm, Per Lindvall and Malando Gassama on drums and percussion for different songs.)
Dereck, can you imagine, that they said about themselves they weren't a good live band? Unbelievable, isn't it? In your other reaction to "Does Your Mother Know" they didn't sing live, it was the studio version with the official video. Your reaction was great again. For the next time I hope for "Bang-A Boomerang". It's not live but it has an official video. This song will make you happy, I promise.
ABBA, THE PERFECT BLEND OF POP, ROCK, FOLK, REGGAE, CLASSICAL, COUNTRY, FUNK AND DISCO MUSIC. REACT TO: GET ON THE CAROUSEL, LIVE, FROM ABBA THE MOVIE. THERES A HOLE IN YOUR SOUL, IF YOU DON'T LIKE ANY ABBA SONG 🤗
Thanks so much for bringing the ABBA happiness to us! For the next reactions I recommend: Ring Ring (1973 version), Bang-A-Boomerang, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, Rock'n'Roll Band, Two Fro The Price Of One (Could be the live version at the Dick Cavett show in 1981)
ABBA is a studio band on the other hand there is so much quality in the band and the musicians who are in the background that you can't easily say that they are only top in the studio. In an interview about Tour 78/79, the Tour Manager said that Abba wanted the best for this tour in terms of technology and what was on the market at the time.
Dereck, were you aware that they have new material (first in 38 years) being released this autumn? Possible 5 tracks, so far 2 named ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’ & ‘I Still Have Faith In You’. 🤗
I was actually there at the ABBA 1979 concert at Wembley Also you should take a listen to a couple of tracks which I think you may like 1979 East river by the Brecker brothers Also Temptation by heaven 17 I think it was released in 1983
The first song they did does your mother know I learned of ABBA through that song from a compilation 70s album but they used to put out with all different artists on it and it made me fall in love with Abba
Thanks for the reaction. Yeah it really is one of their best live clips. But everything from the Wembley concert is electric. It's well known Agnetha had a hard time cutting loose during live shows, but she sure did at Wembley. Really love how they pushed their session guy's into the spotlight to let them shine. In terms of telling Born from Agnetha, well the sexyest bottom in R&R is a pretty good clue. Thanks again for always showing ABBA the respect they deserve. Greatest band ever.
And finally the day arrives... (after six months) and Dereck react to 'Hole in your soul" live! Everything you say is very true The control of the supporting musicians when the girls are around them The brilliant harmonies of the four (not just the two girls anymore) The energy and enjoyment that enhances their songs I add a context data that elevates what you say The recital is the closing of the North America/Europe Tour September/November 1979 At the beginning of that year the blonde singer Agnetha and the guitarist and singer Björn had already separated; However, their professionalism allowed them to share the love for their music and that energy put on stage Something about the two songs: "Does your mother know" with Björn added to Agnetha and Frida at the leads vocales, was the second single from their six album "Voulez Vous" (1979) pick #3 in UK "Hole in your soul" wasn't a single, it's a hidden gem in their five album "ABBA The Album" (1977) ABBA gave the best of itself in that mythical setting It had been almost two hours and 20 songs And they arrive at this epic moment with the four in front of their audience (after a memorable melodic and heavenly bridge of the singers Agnetha and Frida and their highest and highest notes) Then there will be the special numbers. They will return to close with the emotional "The way all friends do" followed by their greatest worldwide hit "Dancing Queen" And the final bonus will be the iconic "Waterloo", the song that gave them the triumph there in England in the remembered 1974 Eurovision Contest that put ABBA in the consideration of the music world Here is the link to this final trio of songs ("Waterloo" with image of the first minute, but the complete audio) ua-cam.com/video/MeRESZjq8J0/v-deo.html You did before "The way all Friends do" live, but I think that could be react the sequence complete Thank you again so much for giving us this gift for all ABBA fans My best wishes for you from Buenos Aires Argentina
ABBA, Bonnie Tyler, Céline Dion, and Flo Rida are the biggest names for the international music industry to compete on Eurovision! And thank you Dereck Reacts and music first, always! 💝
Playing a guitar solo in front of thousands while Agnetha and Frida are feeling up your legs. Some guys have all the luck.

In order to get the wall of sound effect that they had on recorded songs they had to have multiple instruments. I hope you continue so I can consider going back. I really do. I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do.
The energy is through the roof, good stuff, great musicians!✌🕺🇸🇪❤
Btw, if you like ABBA's stage costumes - they're created by zoologist Owe Sandström who designed ALL ABBA's stage outfits while working as a high school teacher, went with them on tour in the 70's and then returned to his job as a teacher. He still works as a teacher and teach about animal and about the respect of animals. There's a lot of material of him as such here on UA-cam👍
Please give him all your love, he's a typical humble and kind Swedish not making any noise about himself and his achievements❤🇸🇪
Amazing🎉Thanks dereck👍
Hi Dereck,i come down again.I forget to say ,your T-Shirt looks like good!It remains me to the 80s!!!!!!!🎉📣😃
Thanks!
I was in “Mamma Mia” 2 years ago in ojai Arts Center to 17 sold out houses! An Honor in Ventura County Southern California!!
AꓭBA was a great live band. I hate when people say otherwise. Perhaps they are used to watching their favourites lip synch at “live” concerts.
Gimme Gimme Gimme at this concert is brilliant.
Been waiting for you to react to this performance for ages - I knew you’d love it. So so good!! 🙌
This whole concert is fantastic. Very high energy!. Check out Dancing Queen and Summer Night City from this concert!
Monday afternoon at work just got a whole lot noisier, and there's not a soul in the office who wasn't singing along :)
I expected you to go bananas with Hole in Your Soul. It's very upbeat and happy.... or is it? Like most Abba songs it has a darker message:
"You paint your world and use all colours
And then you find it all comes out too bright
You know it's only a lie
The songs you sing are too romantic
And when you want the truth
They only spit in your eye
Oh yeah, they're only telling you lies"
That bridge is amazing.
I agree with you, it’s unbelievable! They were great in this video.
For the next reactions I recommend: Ring Ring (1973 version), Bang-A-Boomerang, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, Rock'n'Roll Band, Two Fro The Price Of One (Could be the live version at the Dick Cavett show in 1981)
They sing Ring Ring in swedish, englisn, spanish and german.
@@carinanystrom8239 I know! I love the English and Spanish versions the most
Love that you like Abba
This is electricity....mega electric...
Greatest thing u have ever seen "live" from ABBA? Try "I've Been Waiting For You." You will be floored.
Dereck, were you aware that they have new material (first in 38 years) being released this autumn? Possible 5 tracks, so far 2 named ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’ & ‘I Still Have Faith In You’. 🤗
We've been waiting two years and still waiting. I really can't wait.
Ful album i hope
We all saw the video, but with Derek is different. Because he pays attention to details we oversee, so we learn a little when watching his reaction.
Please react Bang a Boomerang and Summer Night City live at Wembley.
WOW!!!
Frida and Agneta rocking their beautiful vocals in the live shows Frida's voice always stood out more
One of my favourite ABBA songs.
I was actually there at the ABBA 1979 concert at Wembley
Also you should take a listen to a couple of tracks which I think you may like
1979 East river by the Brecker brothers
Also
Temptation by heaven 17
I think it was released in 1983
The first song they did does your mother know I learned of ABBA through that song from a compilation 70s album but they used to put out with all different artists on it and it made me fall in love with Abba
Can't tell Bjorn from Agnetha!! He needs an eye test!
Dereck, Frida's solo, Ett liv I solen, or ABBA's Gonna sing you my lovesong
And finally the day arrives...
(after six months)
and Dereck react to
'Hole in your soul" live!
Everything you say is very true The control of the supporting musicians when the girls are around them The brilliant harmonies of the four (not just the two girls anymore) The energy and enjoyment that enhances their songs
I add a context data that elevates what you say The recital is the closing of the North America/Europe Tour September/November 1979
At the beginning of that year the blonde singer Agnetha and the guitarist and singer Björn had already separated; However, their professionalism allowed them to share the love for their music and that energy put on stage
Something about the two songs:
"Does your mother know" with Björn added to Agnetha and Frida at the leads vocales, was the second single from their six album "Voulez Vous" (1979) pick #3 in UK
"Hole in your soul" wasn't a single, it's a hidden gem in their five album "ABBA The Album" (1977)
ABBA gave the best of itself in that mythical setting
It had been almost two hours and 20 songs
And they arrive at this epic moment with the four in front of their audience (after a memorable melodic and heavenly bridge of the singers Agnetha and Frida and their highest and highest notes)
Then there will be the special numbers. They will return to close with the emotional "The way all friends do" followed by their greatest worldwide hit "Dancing Queen"
And the final bonus will be the iconic "Waterloo", the song that gave them the triumph there in England in the remembered 1974 Eurovision Contest that put ABBA in the consideration of the music world
Here is the link to this final trio of songs ("Waterloo" with image of the first minute, but the complete audio)

You did before
"The way all Friends do" live,
but I think that could be react the sequence complete
Thank you again so much for giving us this gift for all ABBA fans
My best wishes for you from
Buenos Aires Argentina
Wow, never heard a rock version before from them 😳 ❤️
ABBA, Bonnie Tyler, Céline Dion, and Flo Rida are the biggest names for the international music industry to compete on Eurovision! And thank you Dereck Reacts and music first, always! 💝
