I bought a Japanese Saturn for $80 in 2019. I thought it was a decent deal at the time, and now after seeing they go for 100+ I’m glad I jumped on it when I did.
Time Crisis 2 is my favourite arcade game full stop. I haven’t played the PS2 version in 15-20 years but I play the arcade version at my local arcade every week.
Just got the Saroo flash cart and its the best $60 I've spent in a long time. A little tricky to set up but not too bad. Policenauts with the English patch, disc swap is working too. What a great light gun game! Thanks fellas another awesome video.
Love the saturn. Just found 20 or so at a game store. Got 5 lower end ones. But there was no scud bc I want that one. Amazing video showing so much love to saturn and showing all these titles off. Wes, my thrift stores have nothing and send everything online. I used to find stuff all the time. Going to hit garage sales hard this year and go to flea markets more. Is this happening to you in your area?
Your pronunciation of Daisuki was actually pretty good Robert. It would technically be pronounced more like Die-Ski since the U is in-between two voiceless consonants so it's either not pronounced or very understated. It essentially means "I like you a lot." (in a romantic way) in Japanese. And with that, my work is done. Weeb, awayyy!
Mechanical Violator Hakaider is actually available in North America on blu ray. It’s a pretty badass little movie. Hakaider was the antagonist in a 1960’s tokusatsu show called Kikaider, so the movie is kind of an inversion where a former villain gets dragged into being an antihero. Fun stuff!
Been loving the Light Gun videos guys, I know def something I need to try to get back into. But also pick up a CRT TV again. Main thing is I need space though for it. Eventually it will come to fruition, I know it will. That being said, on top of great content for light gun games, then you throw out a video about a console I'm not too familiar with first hand myself, the Sega Saturn. So this one is going to be epic. The games looks so cool, hope to get a Saturn and a set up worthy of these games. The endorsement/praise of these games from you both is a shiny badge for them. I would really like you guys to review Ed Hunter, the Iron Maiden Lightgun game! Sadly it is (to my knowledge) only released on PC and somewhat hard to run nowadays.
All time is Time Crisis 2 on the PlayStation 2. I was never really into light gun games that much. Duck Hunt was awesome and I have played Virtua Cop and TC1, but TC2 in my opinion is hands down the best.
I know this video is old just stumble upon it today I have an actual Sega Saturn Japanese model modded with Phoebe with two Japanese Sega Saturn official light guns like you have in the video and I have a dream cast pre launch model with two official Japanese Sega Dreamcast light guns and everything you say in the video is correcting awesome about the light guns
Pro tip: If you do nothing else, the FRAM mod for the Saturn is an ABSOLUTE MUST! Losing saves is no bueno and this fixes that. Coupling it with fenrir will also make it so you can copy the saves to the sd card and back too.
I must give Scud a try. I bought it about 10 years ago at a Salvation Army stor for $5. The other game is Virtual On that I bought there is that price as well. Later on I bought the Dual Twin Joystick for Virtual On as that resemble the arcade version. $85. The buyer included the Japanese version of Virtual On. Are you going to list the fighting games on Saturn? It is perhaps the best version games and ergonomic controller for fighting games.
I was digging on the question of your Black light gun. It's not in US but in Japan. US at that time were experiencing toy guns that are almost like real gun in late 80s and early 90s. That's why government demanded that toy gun be in bright colors that do not resemble a real gun. FYI, there was a Texan kid that got shot by NES gray zapper gun. This is why I am curious of a Black Light Gun for the Sega Saturn because I have never seen one on US soil.
Just finished watching. You guys look like you had a blast making this one! Awesome video! Time to dust off the stunners after this one. Thanks for the inspiration
I love light gun games, but never actually owned any console versions. Only played arcade versions but I'm sure they are great with a friend in your own living room.
Guys, so I dug into my "war chest" as my friend called it, and I found a pair of the Dreamcast Interact light guns. I forgot I even owned those, so I went to set up my modded DC on the CRT and I couldn't find the standard a/v cables. So I've got SCUD, and I've got that Point Blank game you guys mentioned for like 1.5 seconds, but I don't recall if I have any Saturn light guns... if I do they're buried somewhere. Same goes for my GunCon2s... I have no idea where they are but I know I definitely own at least two. I have the most nostalgia for Area 51 followed by House of the Dead, as they were the ones I played most in the arcades, but Virtua Cop 2 is easily the better game. I've played my fair share of the Virtua Cops, House of the Deads, & Time Crisis games over the years and they're all awesome.
@@GamingOffTheGrid Nice, look forward to it. I'm guessing it's mostly a peripheral review, since there's only like two games for Dreamcast? I just took a look and I have House of the Dead 2 physical, but I swear I also had Typing of the Dead. And of course I lent my copy of Smash Pack to my friend as a tester for a couple busted consoles he wanted to try and fix.
All time fave is House of the Dead (Arcade). I spent way, way too much money on that cabinet at Farley's off of Grand back in the day. If we're talking strictly console, I'd have to say the first three Time Crisis games on PS1 and PS2. Just fantastic games. Time Crisis 1 is probably my fave just because of the nostalgia I have for that.
To be honest with the exception of the arcade game Operation Wolf I never really played arcade gun shooters too much.Ironically while I never got any of the PS2 or Saturn gun games I do have a bunch for the Wii and PS3 though.
Scud didn't work with "The Replay Action Cartridge" inserted 🧐🤔why?! It would read it but dont work..stuck in loading Time😢I fixed it by removing the Cartridge 😎🧐🤗😮🎉❣️🤓
I've gotta say my favorite lightgun game so far is house of the dead 3. The game using shotguns makes the game a little more forgiving when it comes to accuracy. Also, I actually recommend the madcatz fazor if you're looking for a budget lightgun. It's lightweight and doesn't wear out your arm in longer play sessions, and it's also ps1 compatible. Just make sure if you buy one it comes with the adapters to plug in to the consoles our it won't work since it plugs in through ethernet into adapters for the consoles
Crazy boys I just bought a copy of Maximum Force on PS1 for my light gun goodness, close to all Physical copies of PS1 light gun games. Gotta get me a Saturn just for SCUD! Cheers boys🍻
I’m a Sega fan first and foremost. But ps1 and ps2 light gun games cannot be beat. Sega Saturn doesn’t come close to it. Between Elemental Gearbolt, time crisis series, point blank, gunfighter legend of Jesse James, it’s a landslide victory. And for the time crisis games and gunfighter legend of Jesse James you can plug in a steering wheel and pedal into the 2nd player port and use its pedal in the game. Also, system link with the ps2 for time crisis 2 and 3 is the mic drop moment.
All of what you said about Die Hard Trilogy is true. That said, i have always loved it. I don’t know if it’s the way the enemies just explode in a fountain of blood like in Robocop vs Terminator, the destructible environments, or what. I actually just recently played it & i still had a good time. I loved it so much back when it was new that i beat it using only the D pad on a controller, something that a reviewer at the time said he thought was all but impossible. It was definitely hard as hell & took many, many, many tries but i eventually did it. HOTD would’ve failed better if they had gone either way flat shaded polygons instead of covering everything with those horrendous pixelated textures. Still a super fun game but, like the remake, it should’ve been so much better.
Hey guys thanks for the video, question. How do you screen capture or live stream your gameplay from the CRT TV? I ask since I'm interested in recording gameplay and doing live streams, but from my CRT TV.
We use the Elgato HD. It's an older model but has a dongle for Component/ AV connections (if you buy one make sure it has the dongle). Here's a link. We will also be having a Game Room tech video in the coming month or so explaining our set up in great detail. I hear people hate on House of the Dead for the Saturn all the Time. Not sure if there is a difference but I have the Japanese version and I loved playing through it. The graphics are rough but it was doing a lot for a 1998 port. I only notice the frame rate drop once in every 3 play through. I have not played it two player more than twice so maybe it struggles there.
Oh it's still fun. It's just not a great port. There are tons of games that the port is rough but is still enjoyable for sure. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Got Scud and played it with a Lightgun+Arcadestick with Rapid fire on..just rest your Wrist on the fire button and move along and thèn shoot everything else in Sight🎉😎 Two handed fun. Now gonna play with Two guns😅..I let U Dudes Know 🤘❤
I've got a number of those and I would agree that the House of the Dead game is a bit underwhelming compared its competing light gun games. I find Maximum Force to be more fun.
I remember buying that Saturn House Of the Dead port back in the day and being extremely disappointed with just how grainy and muddy it looked. I don't even really understand why it came out like that because the first Time Crisis on PS1 still looked good, despite its clear downgrade in polygons and textures.
You did miss one game that is now out there but not 100% complete, being Crime Patrol. It is unfortunately prohibitively hard due to the incomplete nature of it, however it does work and the gun is as accurate as always. Certainly better played on 3DO where it was quite playable especially if you have two Game Guns.
I think you guys were way too hard on House of the Dead. it definitely has low res textures and a low poly count, but the gameplay is solid, it plays great.
Love you guys and your videos, but the PS1 versions has a better frame rate and graphics. Not to mention, the Namco Guncons are the greatest console light Guns of all time. I do love the SEGA Saturn as well, I just don't think the light Gun games are as good as the PS1 and PS2. The Japanese Virtua Cop Collection on PS2 is amazing!!!🤩❤️👍

Hell yes!!!!! I know all about that exact cab :)
To be honest with the exception of the arcade game Operation Wolf I never really played arcade gun shooters too much.Ironically while I never got any of the PS2 or Saturn gun games I do have a bunch for the Wii and PS3 though.
There are some fun ones of the PS3 and Wii! House Of The Dead Overkill for the Wii is how the channel was started
Scud didn't work with "The Replay Action Cartridge" inserted 🧐🤔why?!
It would read it but dont work..stuck in loading Time😢I fixed it by removing the Cartridge 😎🧐🤗😮🎉❣️🤓
Interesting. I'm not sure. I will check tonight to see if ours does. I believe we had it in when we played it.
Just played it dual wield in single Player mode..WOW🎉🙏 Thanks again , CHEERS🍻😎👌@@GamingOffTheGrid
I think the house of the dead remake was updated for move support for ps4 not sure about ps5.
awesome! did you do a ps1 lightgun guide vid?
We did a while back. Here's the link if you want to check it out. Cheers!

@@GamingOffTheGridgreat thanks guys
Elemental Gearbolt on the PS1 is the GOAT.
That game is beautiful!! So glad we discovered it a while ago.
@@GamingOffTheGrid I wish there was a home release of CarnEvil.
Elemental Gearbolt is great. A shame it goes for $250 to $300 on average.
@@SubaruMalibu Yea all the Working Designs catalog is on the high side.
Absolutely love it!
I have epilepsy but flashing lights luckily aren't a trigger for me. So no sirs, I will kindly not f**k off lol
😂!!!
HOTD III is hammer dude!!!!
House of the Dead. It's the 1st light game that had me hooked. Virtua Cop wasn't too shabby either.
Crazy boys I just bought a copy of Maximum Force on PS1 for my light gun goodness, close to all Physical copies of PS1 light gun games.
Gotta get me a Saturn just for SCUD!
Cheers boys🍻
Enjoy! Maximum Force is awesome
I always loved the light gun part of die hard trilogy . Good laugh . Maybe just me 😂. Got virtua cop 1 and 2 . Great games
I was definitely laughing while playing it, but it was poor!! I did enjoy the first Die Hard a lot though
@@GamingOffTheGrid haha never completed got a good way through .
The PS1 version is a trip for sure. Terrible but fun. Kinda like a shitty horror movie LOL
shooting my shot: have you guys heard any wind about whats going on with hotd2 remake?
happy 3:16 day guys
How do you set the eng subs in Policenauts?
Duck Hunt!! An all time Classic
One Beer equalling 4 Beers. That's what I'm talking about! Cheers.
Cheers!

@@GamingOffTheGrid awesome will be looking forward to that one cheers 🍻
Any light guns compatible yet with ps4/5? Don’t think so but I know they made arcade sticks for them.
Not that we are aware of. I think there may be a few light gun types of games for VR but we don't have that.
@@GamingOffTheGrid makes sense, duh vr… I wasn’t thinking. Just know they redid house of the dead… would have been great with a gun.
@@GamingOffTheGridi do have a few ps4 Vr game with light gun. It is very immersive.
You might get it cheaply too by now.
I’ve not tried a light gun game yet but I’ll keep an eye out at arcades❤
We love them! Light gun games are what started the channel
Another Banger!
Time crisis 3 in the arcade with a buddy. We actually beat it.
Badass! Love the Time Crisis games
Action replay is cool but now a day's its the Saroo cartridge you should seek
All classics man.
Time crisis 3 my all time favorite
Hell of a game indeed!
Area 51 and virtua cop took up an entire summer for me and my buddy.
Dude love hearing it! Those type of memories are priceless
I love House of the Dead on Saturn, actually. the graphics are pretty blocky and pixelated but the gameplay is there.
Cheers!
The Japanese version has red blood. The North American version has green...
Policenauts is more like Snatcher on the realm or cusp of light gun game but not really more point and click
It’s such a unique game though! I really want to sit down and beat it one day
Got Scud and played it with a Lightgun+Arcadestick with Rapid fire on..just rest your Wrist on the fire button and move along and thèn shoot everything else in Sight🎉😎
Two handed fun.
Now gonna play with Two guns😅..I let U Dudes Know 🤘❤
Hell ya!
@@GamingOffTheGrid Really!!🤘💪😎🙌🍻
@@GamingOffTheGrid and the Music is Soo Good!🔥😎🤘🤠👌
GREETINGS
It is indeed. If you put the game into a CD player and skip track 1 the soundtrack is all there. Crank it up brotha!
Holy crap, I didn't know Policenauts had English subtitles....Action Replay and Japanese titles here I come!
It’s a game changer! Without that, it would be impossible to know what’s going on
Just bought a sweet Sega Saturn with HDMI adapter. Just got the virtual cops. Hotd is so expensive though
Yeah it sucks how expensive it is, but luckily it’s not a good port so wouldn’t recommend getting it
@@GamingOffTheGrid ha they got the arcade game of hotd at up/down so I just dump coins double gunning it with the miketyson drink in dsm
It’s one I play every time I go to UpDown as well. I also love ordering the Captain America drink
house of the dead, ALL of them :) and also the 2 gunblade games on the wii!!!
I've got a number of those and I would agree that the House of the Dead game is a bit underwhelming compared its competing light gun games. I find Maximum Force to be more fun.
Maximum Force is great for sure!
Gaming off the Grid loves their light gun games Gaming off the Grid 2018-Now
Yes we do!! Its one of the reasons we started the channel 🍻
I think I'm ready for another adventure.
I just wanna keep playing these light gun games!!
I remember buying that Saturn House Of the Dead port back in the day and being extremely disappointed with just how grainy and muddy it looked. I don't even really understand why it came out like that because the first Time Crisis on PS1 still looked good, despite its clear downgrade in polygons and textures.
House of the Dead 2, but the Wii RE games are pretty great.
Agree on all 3 of those!
I’ve got everything but a CRT to play on…
So close!! Get a small one and these games will look gorgeous on it
You did miss one game that is now out there but not 100% complete, being Crime Patrol.
Am I seeing things, or has GOTG made another Saturn video?
Two Saturn videos in a row baby!! We are LOVING this console right now
@@GamingOffTheGrid You guys are killing it!
My favourite light gun game was the one on a DVD that didn't respond to your inputs. I think I was scammed.
My god please stream the light gun dating sim and have Robert read the dialog 😂🤣
LOL!!!!!
When the Sinden based light gun comes out for the Polymega you can play all these games with out a CRT.
We knew this comment was gonna happen
@@GamingOffTheGrid I would love if you guys test the new gun for the Polymega with all these Saturn light gun games.
That didn’t take long
Love you guys and your videos, but the PS1 versions has a better frame rate and graphics.
A little...pew pew pew action. Time crisis 1 and point blank baby!
Both amazing games!!
