Cami and Lizzie, taking your littles out for your chores every day will come back and bless your family in the years to come. Guaranteed! I love to see you and Sandy Brock loving to your older ewes. Makes my heart sing
Name the no ear sheep! Have a contest or let us give suggestions! So glad you're keeping her! She deserves a nice rest now after her years of service! ❤🐑
Congrats on your first retirement sheep! You should name her now. Man.. you guys are parenting at its best. Kid loses key.. parents would reprimand kid.. etc. Nope you give the feedback.. then hand the key to the kid to do the right thing.. which he did. He must have been listening? Thanks for sharing! Love from the USA!
I had a ewe and a ram that were 22 years old. They produced twins together every year up until dieing natural deaths. I didn’t have to supplement their feed but I did have plenty of excess grass and they were kept as “pets”.just love your videos. Both informative but also humerous and very real….
I love animals and want them to be safe and happy. But I am also pragmatic. The Cull Ewes are older, tired, have lost teeth, are unable to eat enough to maintain condition, as Older Mamma;s start to endure, they are losing muscle mass and healthy fat... Then the health issues, and that Winter is coming and they will suffer from the cold, the wind, etc. It's kinder to them to send them off, and it allows for more room for younger Ewes who will be far happier during winter, can graze and settle to chew their cud, can have lambs to love. But we all are happy that you're keeping the Earless Ewe! She IS special, and she deserves a quiet retirement. Every Farmer has a few pets anyway, right? Jock and Angus, maybe even Bonnie will love her up!
It's so great that you took the kids to work, but I couldn't stop laughing when you were crying and the great idea 🤣!!! The boys and soon Bonnie will become more useful than a hindrance. Love your old ewes. 🇨🇦
Great sheep content as usual Cammy and Lizzie, as you say tough decisions but cruel to be kind is the best way to say it, really old ewes will just not survive and that isn't the way a farmer wants to see happen.
You guys are absolutely amazing. I love that the boys are experiencing all the farm work! Best way to grow up as far as I'm concerned, Have you had any maedi vizna in your flocks? Hugs to you all!
We have a few sheep at our farm that is 10-11 years old, and they're still kicking it as we take them to islands and move them about. Will be sad to see them go as they are massive for aiding with more scared sheep or those that has become a bit too wild, luckily we have a few younger 1-3 year olds that are on the road to be just as useful. EDIT: They're so called "Värmlandsfår", a Swedish breed. We'd have only them if it wasn't for the issue that they lamb late in the season, which is an issue for our line of work of taking them out on islands.
I recommend a small but hideously bright keychain. Suggest industrial orange. So if the key happens to fall out of the ignition again, twill be a tad bit easier to find. Congrats on your first retired sheep. Will there be more?
You and Lizzy are doing great at farming and raising those three adorable children. Angus is right in there along with his big brother. 😊❤️ Nice rugby shirt!
@@TheSheepGame Haha. Yes, Angus sure is.... learning so much from his Big Brother. Stay turned....for up and coming videos, that could prove very entertaining. (for Us ....not them)
You're going to have your own flock of Golden Girls like Sandi Brock. She started out with a small flock and its grown a bit. Hers are getting up there in age and spent the last winter hunkered down in her old barn in a real nice bed of straw.
Yes, but she has a smaller operation and only keeps her favourite pets, and is more hands on with her indoor herd. Nice to see Cammie keep a pet or two as well :)
if farmer in the UK were going to do hair sheep - they really need to look at the Australian White - Aussie youtuber "Tara farms" did a great vlog in the last month about purchasing a Aussie White flock - what she was looking for and why - tups with a good gap between their hooves to prevent foot root - the Aussie White is also a grass fed sheep - why it was crossed they way it was, they call it the Wagyu of sheep - the fat does not sit on top of the meat it runs through the meat like Wagyu
I saw that episode, too. Another great sheperd is Sandi Brock here in Southern Ontario, Canada. Cammie hosted Sandi and Mark on Fed By Farmers, and Sandi did the same with Tara at her farm in Canada - all great fun!
Hi Cammy, Do you still have Iris? I was watching your old videos and I was wondering what had happened to her? I'm so happy your going to keep the old no ear one, that makes me so happy! 🥰
have you got a collection of No Ear's daughters? I surpose you were not recording 7 years ago - would be good to know who her daughters were and how they were going
I see Angus finally got to sit in the chair and Jock got the trusty red bucket. Oh Jock oh no! Keys are off limits🤣 I still remember when one of my littler brothers was around that age and threw my dad's keys to his truck in a flooded drainage ditch. Took my dad, my uncle and I a good hour to find them.
Cammy, please can you let us know what your cull ewes fetch. It is an important, but usually a forgotten about, income stream. If you run 1200 ewes, and call them after their 6th lamb, you have in the region of 200 cull ewes for age (minus 10% of being barren or death).
Yeah I think we ended up with 120 in total this year! Be averaging about £65 so far i think. These girls would be below the ave and the mules would be above it👍
@TheSheepGame £7,800 in cull sales, not to be sniffed at. Better than a fee from the knacker man in Jan Feb when they die having put a few weeks of feed into them. Thank you for being so open about for business.
When you cull your sheep because they are thin, do they get sold at market? Lol, I spend 5 hours one evening looking for car keys when my first daughter was just a year old. We were supposed to be loading the car to depart on a camping trip first thing in the morning. At midnight, exhausted and frustrated, I went to pour myself some water from the pitcher, and something rattled inside... Toddler had dropped the keys in the water, and I NEVER would have thought to look there! Aren't they great?!!
We looked for the keys for so long my hubby had called a cab and then I started washing dishes … and found one of the kids had dropped them in with the dishwater😂 (40 years ago) Now I just start tidying up until I find whatever is lost😅
I guess Sandi has rubbed off on you with her Golden girls, lol. Nice idea. Ask me why I have a brightly coloured lanyard on all of my sets of keys? Works great. ❤❤
Great video Cammy & Lizzy i love the fact your keeping miss luggless bless her she has been a good ewe. I love the idea of you having your own little golden girl group like your good friend Sandy. Take care and have a good weekend 💜
Every farmer has a pet or two! Next thing you know you'll have a little retirement flock like Sandi. It's harder to get attached with such a large commercial flock run across several fields, but you somehow managed! (Of course it'd happen with an animal you nursed back to health)
Should of taken the keys out of thr ignition. YOU know better than that. Like with animals you always have to look ahead..if they can get into it move it out of the way.
I was visiting my mom and dad‘s house and my son was riding his new little car and had grabbed the keys from my dad and put it in the trunk of the little car. We didn’t find the keys till the next morning.
Poor old girl glad you retired her even it isn’t very farmerish Dad had one pet he retired of course our whining to keep her played a role in his decision 😂😂
I hate maggots. I wanna keep all the sheep 😢 I know you have to be cruel to be kind but it’s still sad. It’s clear you have a bond with them as you remember them
Yeah it’s a shame because they have been good to me. I’ve learned my lesson in the past keeping them too long and they just can’t look after themselves through a hard winter.

"Earin" is certainly a kinder name than Lugless.
