    The Pacers could beat the Heat in the regular season all they want, but they have Wade and LeBron to answer to when June rolls around. Honestly, The Pacers are the biggest threat to the Heat in The NBA, not just the East. With that said, I will never, ever, bet against LeBron again once the post-season hits. The man is possessed. He's developed that killer/assassin mentality that Kobe and MJ had. Please, don't hate me. I'm just voicing my opinion.

      I agree with what you said mostly, but I don't get this killer mentality people keep talking about. For me, if you're comparing LeBron now to the Kobes and the Jordans, he doesn't possess that killer attitude because his character is just different. However, his intensity for the game has never changed. I think at this point, its because LeBron has revolutionized his game as he continually improves and now, he's in a position to succeed with the system the Heat play which perfectly fits him. Like many people said, Mike Brown's heavy ISO system never really used LeBron's gifts to their full potential.

    Im a heat fan but I won't have a HUGE problem if they dont make the Finals. A threepeat now is much more difficult than a threepeat back when Jordan and Kobe did it. Now, everyone has a teams stats at their finger tips, how well they defend pull ups, how well they defend drives, how often they do this that etc. So teams in the east can build there team to defend the Heat's strengths and abuse the Heat's weaknesses, so in my eyes winning back to back is the equivalent of winning back to back to back decades ago.

    • @KriticalKing
      @KriticalKing 11 років тому +10

      Heat have only ONE real competition in the East. And that's the Pacers. If anything they might have the easiest 3 Peat in history. (If they do it of course.)

    • @randomfaca
      @randomfaca 11 років тому +1

      KriticalKing
      you think the East during Bulls' 3-peat was any more competitive? It was basically 3 incomplete teams, the offense-incapable Knicks, Magic and Pacers with Reggie and some other guys.

      Lectiuss People use that excuse all the time, yet when you look at their freethrow attempts, it's usually near the same amount as the opponent. Quit jumping on the bandwagon.
      RadicalRattleMusic The reason the handchecking rule was created was because of Jordan, believe it or not. They made it easier for him to score. Kobe just so happened to be playing a little before it was added.

    We've seen this before. Miami don't run their best stuff until it's absolutely necessary. Why is that I've no idea, but I think they still have a few tricks up their sleeves. Their priority for the season is firstly health. Indiana's getting better each game though. Should be fun come playoff time. Personally I think Beasley will get more minutes in the playoffs, from what I've seen he can bother wings on defense.

    Very nice vid once again Nick. I've been putting the Pacers as the #1 team in the East ever since the start of preseason. People here (Belgium, Netherlands) don't always get that because "the Heat have LBJ" but they will see come June that the Pacers are for real and Paul George is the next big thing. That boy defended LBJ AND Wade the entire game. Respect!

  • @goldberg713

    Hey Coach, one thing that nobody seems to mention is the fact that Greg Oden will be healthy and play in the playoffs against Indiana. In this game, Roy Hibbert scored 24 points with Bosh and Birdman guarding him and Roy Hibbert has at least 3 inches and a good 50 lbs over them. Greg Oden will be a good matchup with Hibbert defensively and the presence of Oden won't allow the pacers as many offensive rebounds as they get. Plus I think the Heat just missed a few shots that they would regularly make. Great video btw.

    I think the Heat will pull it out against the Pacers, Bosh has to be more assertive tho. They pulled out into a big lead early on they just have to keep that same pace going. Indiana is really good too

    • @ryanr20091
      @ryanr20091 11 років тому

      exactly pacers barely pull this one out . heat shouldn't be sacred of the pacers. the bulls beat them down worse lol. whats more alarming is that paul George seems to have bad games against the heat and that's their main guy. you take him out in a series and the pacers have no chance.

    • @ryanr20091
      @ryanr20091 11 років тому

      asik for bosh helps both teams. the rockets need a stretch four and the heat need a big that rebounds and plays defense.problem is bosh contract is hard to move

    • @uberhikari
      @uberhikari 11 років тому

      ryanr20091 In order for the trade to work it would have to be Omer Asik + Terrence Jones + Jeremy Lin for Chris Bosh. That trade is the best possible trade for both teams.

    The reason for Indiana's great defense is Roy Hibbert... While Paul George gets all the credit Hibbert is the real reason behind their success

    • @youngAssassinAM
      @youngAssassinAM 11 років тому +1

      Hibbert gets a lot of the credit I rarely hear people say PG is the reason the Pacers are so good on defense they all give it to the Big Man!

      C'mon, you gotta give PG credit!

    • @OriginalSin110

    • @provokeme
      @provokeme 11 років тому

      BBALLBREAKDOWN George does get credit, but i think the reason why he can play such amazing man to man defense is because he knows he has hibbert in the back to either lead his man to or he knows that if he does get beat he has hibbert to clean his mess up.....I saw plenty of possessions during the game where james and wade would blow pass the pacers defense only to run into that hibbert wall...take hibbert off the team..i think the pacers are like a miami-lite team

  • @RionMusik
    @RionMusik 11 років тому

    I believe if danny granger can come back like a star to complement the team they can win the title, they really need a 3point shooter to spread the floor and to make Paul G go inside more, also will make the team more diverse on offense.

    Coach Nick has criticized the Heat the past 2 years saying during the regular season they probably wouldn't win the championship yet they have the past 2 years. They are the heavy favorite until someone beats them in the playoffs, it's clear the regular season doesn't matter to Wade Lebron or Bosh all of whom are getting healthy for the playoffs rather than wasting all their energy during the meaningless regular season.

  • @jonoliver95
    @jonoliver95 11 років тому

    4:40, i gotta say, i love the channel and i love the videos. very knowledgeable stuff and its helped with my growth in basketball. HOWEVER, the comment about the heat being able to be successful against the bottom 25 teams but "its when they come up against good teams" where they'll have some serious trouble. The heat have actually STRUGGLED against the bottom teams this year, no doubt due to coasting, losing more games to worse teams, and showed up against the great teams. sure, one loss to the pacers, and a loss to the thunder. That does not change the fact that this is a championship team who knows how to win in 7 games against just about anyone, and against any odds. And when they need to show up, i think anyone knows they will.
    *YES I AM A HEAT FAN, but when talking about basketball i remove bias. The Pacers are a good, tough, and motivated basketball team, but they wont make it out of the east this year. They are one or two pieces away from being the team to beat. Until then, its a threepeat for miami.

  • @RastaHenkie
    @RastaHenkie 11 років тому +4

    I'm more concern about Miami not being able to defend Hibbert. I've ceen better defence on a big man in a All star game. Like he's playing against children. there was not stopping him.

    • @KenGKaiden
      @KenGKaiden 11 років тому +2

      Part of that is because the Heat really don't have any size on their team. Their strength and weakness comes from them playing small ball all the time. If they strip you it's over on a fastbreak, chances are you're not stopping them. Doesn't help that they're only "Big Men" are Oden who's legs seem like they're waiting to snap and Bosh who couldn't even stop Dirk in 2011 or Duncan last year.

    • @GenericOverload
      @GenericOverload 11 років тому

      KenGKaiden Oden can be a huge factor in winning the title this year if he stays healthy. He should be able to do a nice job defensively against Hibbert. Overall, I can't wait for the playoffs. It'll be intense.

    • @RastaHenkie

    • @KenGKaiden
      @KenGKaiden 11 років тому

      GenericOverload Yes but that's if he's healthy and that's a huge IF! His legs have become have an issue again and even if he gets out there someone like Hibbert, Duncan will wear his legs out with footwork or drives to the basket then they're back to where they started.

  • @teemacdaddy
    @teemacdaddy 11 років тому

    also one think to take note of. they were unable to deny Hibbert that leather and that's why he dominated the paint. well you can also say it's "The Pacers Offense is better than the Heat Defense".

People complain about him taking 3s but he definitely can shoot those. Hey coach this is an odd request but I'm wondering if you could do a breakdown on Brian Shaw and his coaching of the Nuggets. I'm wondering how he is applying his triangle offense on a team that quite frankly doesn't have any good post up threats. Is he running it at all? Or is he just going with the flow and working with what he has ditching the triangle all together?

    Awesome stuff Coach. Keep it up. What can you say about Coach D'Antoni's recent remarks following their loss to the Suns? Are the Lakers better off without Kobe? or they just suck in defense and the Coach should be held accountable?

    • @jeangentry6656
      @jeangentry6656 11 років тому

      It's probably a mix of both. MDA isn't a defensive minded coach, and Kobe, right now, is probably doing more harm than good, as he has to play himself back into shape and on top of that, is playing outside of his comfort zone right now having to play PG (13 Assts don't mean much when u have 7 TO's and only 2 steals to mitigate the damage)

    Coach, I want to get in on this conversation.
    Firstly Coach, to state "Why the Pacers Will Win the East" on Dec 11 of the NBA season, you know better.
    Secondly, you state you don't like the Heat's spread offense. I understand your sentiment and partly because of your coaching style which is understandable. This offense is not built on consistent repeatable actions, traditional inside - out play. However, the HEAT are highly capable with that offense of putting up 95+ points on the Pacers (their average last playoffs versus them). In this game, they missed a lot of makeable shots. The HEAT shooters have been in a slump the past couple of games. We all know what happens when they make open shots (they had a lot of open threes in this game).
    They shot well below their league leading field goal percentage of 50.4%. Some of that can be attribute to the Pacers defense (which is terrific by the way). Their defense reminds of the Spurs in last year's NBA finals, protect the middle at all costs. The big 3 will perform better, especially LeBron, and the HEAT have advantages more places than the Pacers do. Coach Spo will have a full season to game plan against this defense. There are holes to exploit with off ball screens on the helper, pin downs, 3-5 pick and rolls and back door cutting.
    For instance on side line pick and rolls, while that action is going on, if the off ball man would come off a pin down screen (screener clears to opposite corner) and set a screen (clears to top of the key for reversal or 3) for LeBron to cut towards the basketball, seal and post or simply create movement and clear to the corner (2nd most wanted shot in the HEAT's offense); the HEAT would score more points.
    Finally, this HEAT offense will improve as the year goes on, that's why you practice and watch film. This team is battling something this year more arduous than anything the Pacers are capable of. This is the disease that is success. 3 years to the Finals, 2 NBA Championships, 3 straight years of sending they're biggest East rivals home in an emphatic fashion (Bulls, Celtics, Pacers). They are not overly concern with them because of these realities, they've done this song and dance before. New year, new team. Out of every team in the NBA the HEAT have a gear that no one else can reach. It has been a gift to them these past 2 years, will it become their curse this year? That's the drama that is the Miami HEAT.
    In my humble opinion, I think not.
    Reggy

    Coach, love all your analysis videos, best bball stuff on UA-cam. Question about Hibbert's D in the restricted area on LeBron's drive: It looks like he follows through with his arms and hits LeBron on the way down. Shouldn't that be called despite his good effort to jump backwards?

    Hey coach, do you think that if greg oden came back to play decent minutes in the playoffs against the pacers, he could somewhat match up with roy hibbert? Not so much in the heats offense but slow hibbert on defense? If so do you think they would stand a better chance of beating the pacers with oden? When i was watching the heat pacers game it seemed to me the biggest problem at the moment is the heats innability to stop any semi dominant big men, just a thought

      They aren't that important to the Heat at the moment because well the Eastern Conference is so shit they can cruise to 2nd. To add, as some past pro basketball players pointed out, it's extremely exhausting to go to the Finals and the Heat did it 3 years in a row.

While lbj is the best player in the leage there is no fkn way they lose a finals i can see 5 rings in a row till lbj hits 30-31

    Coach Nick said: "Since the more perimeter shots LeBron takes, the better off the Pacers are."
    Isn't LeBron shooting over 43% behind the 3 point line this season? Stats show that he's gotten a lot better and is able to knock them down now on a regular basis.
    Maybe he means he wouldn't be able to do that if he was a volume 3 point shooter? I mean James attempts three 3 point shoots per game on average, which is not too bad..

    • @FiremanH16
      @FiremanH16 11 років тому

      Don't be fooled by percentages. LeBron is still not a consistent 3-point or even 2 point shooter. His 3P% is up because he really doesn't take many. If I attempted 1 3-pointer and made I'd be a 100% shooter but that doesn't mean you have to respect my shot. LeBron makes most of his threes off ball movement when they're in rhythm. If you can get LeBron to catch the ball, put it down and settle for a 3 you've done your job defensively.

    It is too early to say that, with Lebron's back not being 100%, and Miami doesn't care about the regular season. Last year the Pacers were pretty good at home against the Heat and that didn't get them anywhere.
    But if the Pacers win the East, the Thunder will win the Finals.

    Funny there were no clips from the first 2 qrts. The pacers defense couldnt do anything in the first half. In the 2nd half though.. another story.. the Heat struggled mightily. But it wasn't the defense of the pacers who won the match. Roy Hibbert was just incredible in the 4th qrt. But it's just a reg. season game and i think the Heat still have enough to beat the Pacers (in 7).

But the fact that he has been injured for years with few years of experience playing on the court and not even playing in the regular season this year, you can be that optimistic that he will be dominant in the upcoming playoffs?
