I saw James play with Kingdom Come at the monsters of rock tour in 86 that also included Scorpions and again with Scorpions in the mid 2000's and he killed it! A total drum stud! He has the best stick moves I've ever seen! Rarely do I ever pay more attention to the drummer than the rest of the band but James made it hard not to!

Its a testament to the Scorpions of how they'r loved and appreciated around the globe. Reading alot of post here and its amazing. Some are years old some are recent and in so many languages. Majority agree on how bad ass Scorpions WERE and still ARE and WILL BE bad ass forever. Truly global icons!
The Scorpions are so fantastic live! I saw them in the 80's on the Monsters of Rock tour. They were the last slot before Van Halen. They absolutely nailed their performance. Just an awesome experience!
Klaus Meine's intact voice on 40 is always a great hallmark of Scorpions and Mathias accompanies the legendary band well

I have seen too many rock bands live but Scorpions is one of the best ever, they sounds like in the 80s still with a great music and vocals.

Nah, dude. He was still a badass drummer, but from 1996 to 2010 he was such a blasting beast! Watch the 1996 show in Bremerhaven, Germany. Too bad, I mean, realy bad we don't have him around anymore. :(

😂"Killing it"...To be honest James was actually in a horrible form when they recorded this live version, but the fact that he was screwing it up then but still sounded good in that show shows how great James actually sounded in general. That's why James Kottak is one of my absolute favourite drummers and was my role model alongside Phil Rudd and Roger Taylor.
@@martenspitzner408 The last years with the Scorpions was in very bad situation..He had many alchool issues and his performance along with drummnig skills was really bad if we think hes gold years from 2012 and past.. Is very sad to see such good and talented drummer and one of my idols that he is a shadow of his past until today he plays with kindom come and can't achieve his former glory days.
@@user-vj4et2rk6x Kingdom Come was his original band though? They played Monsters of Rock with VH and Scorpions way back in 88, certainly not a bad fallback.
I agree, he ruined himself. Which is a shame. Rarebell is the guy everyone knows and a great songwriter, and Dee is a great metal drummer, but I think Kottack was the best drummer (for the band) to ever play in the band. He brought a lot to the live shows
