Good job, Paula! I should think that even if the coleslaw was not spoiled, the cabbage and dressing would render too much liquid. Also, I think the cabbage would be mushy. Nice meals planned and well done using what you are blessed with. Take care and big smiles to you.
Aw, thank you! 😊 Yes, although the coleslaw smelt okay, it had separated and gone really orange, so sadly, it ended up in the bin. Lesson's learnt! And to you! 😃
Thank you 🙏 It's such a good thing to get on board with! Not only for the saving money aspect but also for reducing the amount of waste! Sadly, a few things have slipped through the net this week 😕 but I suppose at least I'm learning what I shouldn't buy again 😁 Are you doing this for the whole of January?
Oh Paula you are so brave! I’d be petrified with the coleslaw and things that amount of time out of date😳😂I’m terrible and I understand how wasteful that is but “if in doubt chuck it out” is my motto! The fear is real after a bout of severe food poisoning a couple of years back🤮! Do you not get bored and just feel like going out and getting something nice? 12:41
I wasn't that brave! 🫢 Spoiler alert for Mondays meals of the week, but unfortunately, the coleslaw did not make the cut! 😉 It didn't look right at all once it was fully defrosted! Needless to say, I won't be freezing it again. Oh no, poor you! I think if you have had something that's made you that ill, it makes you think twice for sure. We normally like a good takeaway, but with doing the January pantry challenge, it doesn't really fit at the moment. I enjoy cooking so it doesn't bother me, and the past few times that we went out to a restaurant, we ended up feeling slightly disappointed as the food has not been that good. Because the children are teenagers, it's all adults' meals, so for us to go out, it's normally £100 at least. I guess we're more for experiences as we'd sooner spend that going bowling or a family day out. We went clay shooting the other weekend, which was so much fun! 😁 Sorry my reply got a little long! 🤣
Use tired vegetables in the slow cooker to make a soup with suet dumplings on top😊 The jelly and dessert mix should be fine. Bean sprouts do not keep well and my one attempt to freeze coleslaw was a total failure. Nice menu ✔️
Nice idea with the dumplings in the soup! I've never tried that before. We've had the jelly so far, and it was absolutely fine 👍 I'm with you on that one, the coleslaw did not defrost well at all and sadly ended up in the bin! We try, and we learn. Thank you 😊
Good video. Victoria foulger on you tube I did her bean & lentil chilli, very nice. To be honest I really didbt miss the meat, didn't think my husband would like it as he likes meat, but he did. I've also made her butternut squash & spinach lasagne as well which is so tasty. I try to do us a meat free day once a week if I can. Soup is a really good 1 to do as meat free, homemade French onion soup is delicious, as is leek & potato, mushroom, anything you have really. I'm sure the pasta & white sauce is fine, it's common sense if it looks & smells OK its fine. But I've never frozen coleslaw before but if it looks iffy chuck it!!
Thank you! I'll have a look for that recipe, although im not sure if I have lentils 🤔 We had a lentil curry once, and they were surprisingly filling 👍 The butternut squash and spinach lasagne sounds amazing! Having a meatless night every week may be the way to go 😊 The coleslaw definitely looked iffy, sadly it went in the bin.

Aww nooo 🙈🙈🙈. The mayo should not be frozen it separates. Naughty Alexa lol x
That's exactly what it did! 🙊 Needless to say, I shall not be listening to her again 🤣 x
I say. ;) You're doing great! I've been doing the same thing in the USA. I'm making quite a dent in the stuff that needs used up.

@@Withinabudget I'm doing it for as long as it takes to empty my pantry. I've got a lot of stuff to use up.
Ooh didn't realise you had a channel..I've subscribed 😊
Aw, thank you! 🙏 I've only had it for about 4 months, so I'm still very new! I'm enjoying it, and everyone has been so lovely 😊
Good meals ideas really good way of thinking about what your spending and wasting thank you so much 😊❤
Thank you so much ☺️ it's been a really good way to use up the things that we already have in our kitchen. You are very welcome!
