- Finally I've done a little video on COLOR THEROY! Colors are such great fun and my favorite is to choose colors for a new crochet project! I always get lots of questions on my colors and here I show you my main go-to-tricks!
I often see comments from people saying they are not good with colors and that they just can't seem to choose colors that go together nicely. Well no worries, it's just practice, like everything else! Here I show you all my basic color tricks, and like I show you in the video, the 3 top ones really are fool proof! You can use all these tips and tricks those for guidance when practicing your color skills and after a while you´ll be a master of colors!
As always, I'm most grateful when you guys can also purchase my patterns, and I'd sure love to see if you try out some of my tips working on my designs. To up the odds on that, I've activated a coupon code for you guys that gives you 50% discount on your total purchase! You can buy 1 or 10 patterns, but the code ONLY WORKS 1 TIME PER PERSON. So choose wisely, haha ;)
use code: PINK and get 50% discount on ONE purchase until end of next month, that's end of May 2024. here's the link to my Ravelry store:

now if you need any further assistance or pattern support, please consider joining my Facebook group TINNA'S CROCHET CLUB. We always have lots of fun there ... I even call it the fun zone! here's the link if you want to join:

Honestly, they should bottle you and prescribe you for depression :) Your enthusiasm is so infectious. This was so helpful! Thank you.
lol, that cracked me up!! 😂😂😂🫶🏽✨😘
I don’t know of anyone else who is more generous as you Tinna. Thank you for everything. I wish you all the best 🥂
Well aren’t you sweet! 🥰 thank you for your support 😘😘😘
My grandmother was known for her unusual color combos in her granny square quilts. When I asked her how she chose her colors, she told me she put all of her yarn in a black plastic trash bag and then blindly reached in the bag and picked one!
Over the years I've come to realize that her method was brilliant for breaking out of the comfort zone.
That’s a great method! ❤️
there are 2 more aspects you can add to this...1) The Neutrals....black, white, gray and brown go with ANY color combo....adding a neutral as a tertiary (third) can make the actual colors pop more....2) light/dark contrast....to make colors pop more do a light next to a dark.....2 darks next to each other or 2 lights next to each other forces both colors to compete for the center stage which mutes them together and most of the time it's an icky mess....but to prevent that, put a light color next to a dark....they will nestle together like a glove and lift each other into the spotlight
Great advice, thank you 😃
You're simply the BEST!!! Thank you, Tinna. 🤩💯🤸
Haha you’re so sweet 🥰 thank you 😘
❤️
I was sad, but after listening to you for 2 minutes, you made me happier. Thank you Tina ❤
Aww 🥰 happy to hear that 😘😘😘
I’m loving the different shades of blue and tourquoise against the pink I can see in the background.
I know! I love that combo! Teals and turquoise against pink and burgundy are glorious together 😉🫶🏽
The amount of knowledge and taste for colour you have is beyond my comprehension. I am proud that I am learning from you ❤
Oh aren’t you sweet ❤️ thanx love 😘😘😘
Faci lucruri extraordinare, artă,iar energia ta este molipsitoare, mulțumesc!
Love your energy . Always bubbly it's contagious . Brings a smile
Thank you 🥰 your comment brought me a smile ✨😘
i haven’t stopped thinking about the “drab” color tip since i saw this. so true and helpful!
I know, it’s a good little trick 😉✨
Thanks, Tinna. Your explanation is simple and practical. Won't forget- family and friends, warm and cool, single and double fade....awesome ❤
Glad it was helpful! ✨
I made your Queen Mosaic blanket pattern in a color wheel/rainbow fashion, and I have gotten so many compliments on it. I tell people about your channel and how your teaching method gave me the courage to try. Once I got past about 20 rows, I began to find the ‘groove’ you talked about and it was fun!🤗. Winters are long here in Canada 🇨🇦as well so it helps to do a nice crochet project👍🏻 thank you Tinna 💕
Oh this makes me happy ✨🥰😘
Absolutely wonderful your work! My first attempts in this mosaic crochet world were with you, about 3 or 4 years ago. And I always tell people about your pieces as "artwork that could be hanging on the walls of an art gallery". It's amazing! Recently I've introduced you to a group of friends here in Brazil and they went nuts with what they've seen. One of them sent me the picture of her first mosaic crochet piece the following day. Thank you for teaching us!
Now you've brought exactly what I needed! I've always thought about how you choose the colors you use because I could never get the results you have (and we can see that's natural of you). I could only notice you worked with this "degradé" effect between two colors, which I could notice, but could reproduce. Now it's easier to understand, although I still know it's an artistic aspect I got to develop. Thank you once again for your availability to teach us!
A shout out from Brazil! Keep up with the astonishing work!😊
Oh aren’t you sweet!! Obrigada ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Shout out to my Brazilian mosaic crochet team 😘😘😘
Wooo! Just got the rest of the patterns I didn't already own!! Can't wait to try some color theory ideas
Yay! Thank you so much for your support 🥰 happy hooking! 😘
You are the teacher, keep up the good work.
Thank you so much, I will ! 😃
Hello Sweet Tinna! This was SO helpful. Yeah, I've always been "mad" at you for telling us basically to just wing it color-wise. I've done a lot of things that to me were ugly. This will definitely help for my next project! And...............I forgive you for taking so long! I've only been waiting 4 years for this! LOL!😁
Ahaha 🤣😉🫶🏽😘
This was so much fun! I love the way you explain color and the joy you bring to it. I'm going to go check out your patterns. I just made a cowl for my mom using your beginner mosaic pattern and cannot wait for her birthday in a week to give it to her. Happy crocheting 💚🧶💚
Oooh hope she likes her cowl! What a great present ❤️😘
Tinna thank you for this! I am so happy bc when I started mosaic I only used 2 colors light and dark……with the rubric I am experimenting with different colors! So exciting!❤
Ooooh I absolutely love to hear this ❤️ go forth and conquer! ❤️
Thank you so much Tinna, your lesson was so helpful. I always struggle with choosing colours. I always learn so much from you.
So happy to hear you liked it 🥰 now just get to it and start practicing those color skills! 😘
Tinna, thank you so much for making this puzzle so clear! I have been so frustrated with the dcs and scs and now I don't hate them. You are a fantastic teacher and inspire confidence to give things a go.
One favour to ask - could you possibly do a video on how to keep to a pattern when you are in the round and having to increase as in a round basket bottom? My maths is hopeless with increasing stitches and then growing the pattern at the same time. If this request comes up a lot it would be wonderful . Many thanks for being a shining star out there.
I’ll keep this in mind ❤️
I'm impressed with the double color fade. Brilliant. Thank you.
Thank you ☺️
YES YES YES I REALLY NEEDED THIS!!!!!!!
Happy to hear it helps ✨
Love U Tina!
One of the best color theory explanations.
Omg ✨ thank you so much ❤️✨

Thank you very informative as always
Glad it was helpful!
Ohh in my younger days I learned a lot about colours, so thats is no struggle. But finding a yarn in wool or 50/50% with enough colours in them an at a reasonable price...thats a hole other story!!🤪
I finally understand color theory……. Thanks soooooo much ❤
Ahaha yay!! ❤️🫶🏽
Thank you! Explanation of double fades helped me greatly!
Wonderful!! Happy to hear that, it’s such a fun and easy way to play with the colors you have on hand ✨❤️
Thank you Tinna...really helpful... I m encouraged... I have not started my Havanna exactly because I don't know what colors to pick... but I encouraged....thank you again
So happy to hear that! Do check out my old video I made on the double colour fade for Havana, there I show this in more detail 😘
Sorry about the sound 🙈 this was one of my first videos ever 🫶🏽😂

I just bought 4 more items with 50% discount yay🎉 Thanks a lot Tinna ❤.
Wonderful! Hope you have fun with them 😘😘
Hello Tinna,
Thank you, for sharing the way you use a color, the color theory wheel. I struggle with color, but the Ombre skeins have helped me, and now I have gotten braver throwing colors together. 😊 Enjoyed the video, thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful! And like I said, use the tips and tricks while practicing, and before you know it you’ll be good at colors too ❤️✨
@@TinnaThorudottirThorvaldar Thanks Tinna, I'll put those tips to work for sure😊
You're so beautiful, and I love your accent. All your projects are works of art. Very impressive. 💜
Thank you so much 🥰 especially for being encouraging with my faltering English, was struggling a bit with that tonight! 🙈🫶🏽✨😘
@@TinnaThorudottirThorvaldar it's perfect. 🤩
I love your words for the colour theory! Fun!
I had a few of your patterns queued up on my favorites and so just bought them! Thank you for the code.
I'm still confused reading the Terranzzo afghan as I want to do similar to yours but the A colour is changing even in the same round and the suggested yarn is a solid. Perhaps I'll just grab a hook and have a go!
I love your sunny presence and loved doing the Whoopa and hearing your stories and jokes while I worked (played). Much love from Okanagan BC Canada!!! ❤
Oh this makes me all around very happy! Thank you for your support 🙏🏽✨ and yes. Just give the terrazzo a go! I have a video for it available on my channel, best way is to just go for it and see how you like the colors and how they line up. Worst case scenario is you have to frog a bit, which is obviously not the end of the world! 😉😂❤️😘
Thank You Tinna 🦋🌼🫂
Thanks for this Tinna!
You are so welcome! 😘
I love your blue blanket so so beautiful ❤
Thank you, it’s one of my favourite makes ✨
This was fantastic, Tinna! Thank you, from someone ”not so good with colours yet” 😅❤
Ahaha yesss! That’s the spirit! ✨ now go forth and practice and conquer 🤸🏻♀️❤️😘
This was really great, and you answered a lot of my questions about how you choose colors for your gorgeous projects. The colors would have been a lot easier to see if your ceiling light was in front of you in the camera view rather than behind you. A lot of the examples you held up were in shadow as your moved closer to the camera, but lots brighter to see as you moved back behind the ceiling light so that the light fell on the projects. I love your work and you have taught me so much! Thank you for all you do!
Thanks for the pointers 🙏🏽 I’m trying to find my way still and practicing filming and editing my own videos ❤️
Your perfect do loved thank you for being you ❤
thank you 🥰
Thank you so much for this Tinna. I’ve recently started the Havana and I can’t put it down 😂. I’ve been zooming in and out of your versions to get hints on colours so this video has been really helpful. I think I’m heading in the right direction. ❤
Wonderful ❤️ I have 2 videos on my original colorway for my Havana available on my channel too! Check it out, one of the first ones! 😅❤️
Merci Tina!!!!!❤❤❤❤👍👏🎉😊
Happy if it helps 😘
Love you!! ♥😍😍♥
Love received 🫶🏽 sending love and light right back at you ✨🫶🏽😘
oooooh happy Weekend Tinna! Thank you for posting the pattern discount! I love the color wheel thing, and the way you choose your colors. I will be making a smaller psychedelic Amma cal 1 for my daughter's friend for his birthday, I hope I can finish it on time, and I will make another Amma cal blanket to represent both sides of our family. I have been collecting wool for a while now for it. The design of yours to represent my husband's lineage and the colors to represent mine. My daughter's friend had such a reaction to that one I made, so excited, I never saw a man so excited about a blanket. Even the man fixing the roof, he came through the living room and saw it on the table I was working on it, he was admiring it! I had to work on it on a table it was so heavy! I have made so many things but never have I made anything crochet to receive such a reaction from men, they usually don't appear to care much about that stuff. Your design has been a great "hit" with everyone that has seen it :) I got a big kick out of that though, usually men do not comment like that about blankets. Thank you for that pattern. I look forward to making more of them.
Wow, that’s so cool!! And thank you for spreading the word on my patterns with your work ❤️😘
@@TinnaThorudottirThorvaldar Thank you and Thank you for the pattern Happy Mother's day!
Thank you so much for your explanation of colour theory. Friends + family!
I haven't tried the fade yet. Really want to get the Scheepjes box for the your rubic ... maybe I should get 2 for a really big blanket! Their boxes make me smile!
Hugs from Canada 🇨🇦
Oh yes, 2 of those color boxes sounds like a dream! You could double the width, that would make a nice and generous sofa size throw ✨✨✨
Hola Tinna. Me encantó tu video!!!!. Muchisimas gracias por tus consejos. Besos desde Argentina ❤

Hi tinna how are you doing tonight I am doing fine tonight thank you for sharing stay safe ❤❤❤
❤️✨😘
That was so helpful Tinna! I’m quite new to crochet and have never done the mosaic style. What pattern would you recommend for a beginner?
Happy to hear that! I recommend Havana, Indiana or the queen for beginners ❤️ remember to use the code PINK for 50% off your one time purchase 😉😘
Love watching you .I don't know it you can help but I'm looking for a sea turtle for a scarf . I know I saw one you did and What to know if you have a pattern for it . Your really great to watch . Please let me know thank you in advance. ❤
Thank you ❤️🫶🏽 and nope no, no sea turtles in my repertoire 😘

Where do the browns fit in the color wheel?
They go between yellow and orange sort of. Do google COLOR WHEEL and you’ll get up pics of lots of fancy and more detailed ones than the one I drew up to use here 😉❤️😘
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😊
🥰❤️😘
Look in nature for color combo's! Lilacs are blooming right now...purple with green...so beautiful! Just wondering...maybe someone knows...what colors DO NOT go together? They clash? and just don't look right. Can I figure that out on the color wheel? Thank you for a much needed video!
That is an excellent observation about combos in the nature. I will take this to heart thank you ✨🤸🏻♀️ and about the clashing colors I honestly don’t know, but will give it a think and some research ✨❤️
Your color choices are so excellent. You make it seem easy but it’s not. The color wheel helps but you have an innate talent in that department. Hoping to try some of your cool mosaic patterns soon!
Thank you so much! And yes, I know some people understand colors just on another level 😅🫶🏽 but that isn’t to say that everyone can’t always practice the skill and get better at it ❤️ hope you give some of my patterns a go, yay! 🤸🏻♀️❤️😘
Thank you, Tina and yes, I am going to take advantage of that 50% OK I have a question. I don’t like using PayPal. I like using my charge card for my airline so I can travel so my Alaska airline card is what I like to use. I’m getting double charged if I use PayPalis charging me. Also, I even canceled my PayPal altogether so it wouldn’t happen and it still happened. What do you do please help
Oh I’m sorry love, I have no solutions there. I only sell on Ravelry because it’s way too much work that goes into maintaining a whole website on my own. You should be able to buy through PayPal with your normal credit card ❤️ if not, maybe someone around you uses PayPal and could do the transaction for you? Hope you find a solution 😘😘😘
