    I refused to buy the Misti because of the price. I bought the stamp platform instead and love it. I've never needed to use foam but see how it can be helpful with intricate stamps. Great tip.

    Thanks for this quick how to. I had watched videos in the past, but one crucial step was missing and that was to turn the platform to the Rubber side. I tested it and now finally my stamps are crisp, after 1 stamping, 2 at the most. Thanks so much. I was regretting my purchase, but now I am really happy.

    I got my THSP a few months ago and I'm really loving it. I haven't needed any extras so far but these tips you shared are great! Especially the duct tape and magnets since mine seem to be in love with each other!

    Thank you for this tip. I had tried adding foam but didn't turn the lid from clear to other side, nor did I use the TH stamp mat. I have now adjusted my attempt and have flipped the lid as shown, used foam with sticky back and have adhered an inexpensive teflon oven mat ( instead of the TH mat) to it. Now there is no slipping and sliding! Works great!

    Thanks so much - I'm having so much trouble with my 5 year old Tim Holtz platform. I can't get a good impression. Areas are skipped, even though I'm thoroughly inked the stamp. I think this just might solve my problem. Last night I went back to the old fashioned Fisker stamp press with the 4 foam feet to finally get a good impression. You just have to stamp it perfectly the first time - no second stamps with the simple little system. However, it did the trick when I couldn't get good results from either my Misti or Tim Holtz platforms. And I think I'll change the foam in my Misti, too. Maybe I've used it so much, it's lost its oomph! Thanks again.

    I’ve always loved the idea of customizing tools.. The tools don’t need it to work but it sure is nice on my arthritic hands and every advantage lets me stamp longer. As a legally blind stamper certain colored backgrounds make it easier for me to see paper for alignment. Now I can swap out the foam to higher contrast against my colored papers TFS. I’ve subbed and look forward to catching up on your past videos. 🌼

    Great idea. You could stick the foam down with a sticky grid. I will definitely try this.

    I tried the foam trick with my clear stamps but it won't pick them up. Looks like I need thicker foam. I'm using the rubber stamp side with the 2mm foam. Sometimes I need foam with the clear stamp side as some of my stamps seem exceptionally thin. However, I do wonder if the stamping platform is slightly misaligned as it doesn't quite close.

    Neither the Misti nor the TH platform promises to make a perfect impression every time. Their purpose is to be able to stamp in the same exact place until you are happy with your results. Also like TH showed in one of the videos you can add more ink to certain areas looking like shading. The reason for the foam in either one is whether you use a platform or not your image always comes out better if using store bought precise stamp foam or fun foam which is exactly why the Misti included it with their machine. Also if you ask me the manufacturer of the Misti was just scared because if TH product hit the market even though it was different in a coupe ways like not having to cut your paper down to fit, and allowing more crafters the opportunity to purchase a nice platform without charging 60.00 and 100.00. They were afraid some people might buy the TH one and that would mean a loss in enormous profit each time someone bought a T H one. They were just selfish and wanted to monopolize the market with their enormous prices. They weren't too worried about the other ones on the market until the TH one came around.

    I noticed that I have a "dead spot" in my THP that is particularly noticeable if I am using a large stamp. I found if I take a strip of cardstock about 1.5" wide by 6 -8" long, I can slide the strip under the edge of my paper so it is under the "dead" spot where the impression is light. I can usually re-press without reinking and it fixes it. This "raises up" a part of the paper to make better contact. I even have used a "chuckie" tool to press all over. I think my cover is slightly warped. I live with it because I don't want to spend money for a Misti. Every tool that comes to market eventually gets improved upon by someone else. Its hard to justify repurchasing supplies I already have. Do you find that your magnets work through the foam and the teflon sheet? I do notice that it is harder to place the paper in the corner due to the thickness of the foam.

      Wonderful idea with the cardstock shim. I too have certain stamps (the Visible image hummingbird for example) which wouldn't stamp clearly. I've also ordered 2mm foam. I've had my Tonic platform for more than 4 years. Couldn't imagine stamping without it.

    I can't get a good impression of Tim Holtz Glorious Gatherings stamps for anything. They are rubber stamps so I don't know how this technique would work for them. The Glorious Gathering stamps have much finer detail than the one you are showing. Help!

    • @HedgehogHollow
      @HedgehogHollow  5 років тому +1

      Hi Susan, the glorious gatherings stamp is designed to be used in part rather than as a whole I used it in the alcohol lift ink video but it does work best with the block rather than the platform, is there a particular part of the stamp that is causing you an issue?

    • @susanhamilton1822

      Different parts at different tries. I pressed down really hard I thought. I've tried it on the block and the platform. It was expensive enough too.

    Alexandra thank you for another video on this stamp platform. I was curious do you think if I say sticky taped two pieces of wax paper, I could create a stamp mat to put over the foam? I try to come up with ideas for somethings that I can make at home instead of purchasing. I really enjoy your videos Alexandra and I appreciate the fact that I can look forward to a video that has great tips, demonstrations etc from you. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and talents.

      Be careful with wax paper and heat, it will melt onto your platform, wax paper will not behave the same as a teflon mat, for something that isn't heat resistant I would try a laminated piece of plain or grid paper

    • @kathleenbaugh5869
      @kathleenbaugh5869 7 років тому +1

      Thank you for the info, Alexandra. I think your idea for a laminated grid etc. are right on. Thank you so much for taking the time to graciously answer my questions. I really appreciate you. Thank you so much.

    I thought the whole idea of the THSP was that it would give perfect results all the time without doing anything more to it! No criticism of Hedgehog Hollow implied but if the tool needs that intervention I'd not be happy with it.

    • @fam.ligaard
      @fam.ligaard 7 років тому +3

      I agree. Might as well stick with the MISTI...

    • @ellygreaves9793
      @ellygreaves9793 7 років тому +10

      It doesnt need that intervention at all. However, some peeps do not like stamping on a hard surface and, therefore, prefer something softer. Also there is less changing of the lid for different stamp thicknesses. By all means stick with your Misi, perfect results will always be achieved using the THSP with or without the foam. It is just a preference. :)

    • @fam.ligaard
      @fam.ligaard 7 років тому +3

      I own a MISTI and it works perfectly fine, so don't see a reason to buy a new one just because it is from Tim Holtz ;) And besides, I like having the grid and the foam :)

    • @HedgehogHollow
      @HedgehogHollow  7 років тому +7

      Absolutely, I prefaced this in the video that it is personal preference and I wanted to show you how to use the foam if that is what you like, I mix it up and yes it is convenient no changing around too

    • @HedgehogHollow
      @HedgehogHollow  7 років тому +7

      If you have a misti I understand, I have 4! However for a new purchase Id o think the THSP is much better value, the foam is personal preference and the grid is also so easy to get with some math paper or laminate a piece of SU or SSS work paper
