When I play this game it just feels better every time, the skate mechanics are insane, it feels like the character puts effort into doing the tricks, it makes it look less Arcady and it’s amazing!
Pretty sure he has modded it so the animations and gravity look more realistic

I really hope they consider adding the stats mod to their full game release. The original physics are a little too floaty for me. The stats mod makes the game feel twice as real.

These theme maps are cool. Someone should make a post apocalyptic zombie themed park with zombies walking around. They can decide if they want them to randomly attack you or just look scary walking slowly around the park.

I've been checking out Skater XL and Session video's for quite a while now. And I'm really hyped for both! But just wondering, do any of you agree that Skater XL 's animations look more natural and less abrupt and stiff compared to Session? And do you think Session's animations will get smoother?

Such a fun and pretty map! I would love if you did a thorough trick tutorial again. Maybe this time focus on advanced tricks only, so that way it’s different than your current uploaded one. There is so much detail in this game and you could show the tech side. Just brainstorming, but what if you took a line and dissected it with slow motion while showing the controls. Flips in and out of rails, foot control, tweaks and style. And then an entire section devoted to doing all of those same tricks in switch and FS vs BS approaches. It would also be great to show how you practice. Do you go through a comprehensive list of all grinds/slides, all flip tricks, all vert/air tricks to cover it all (which I know is already in your head)? If not, you should totally create a “Complete List of Skateboarding Tricks” manual! Last thought, since you are in a position of connecting real life skateboarding and video games, it would be amazing if you did a video, or a series of videos, that explained the trick naming system (Board Slide vs Lip Slide, FS vs BS Spins, FS vs BS Grinds, how FS and BS are referred to when riding switch, nollie vs Ollie vs switch Ollie or nollie or whatever a switch/fakie nollie or Ollie would be called?, etc...). This would be a way to educate players of the real trick names (and their nicknames such as tre flip, laser, dolphin, and how they actually rotate explained), and make them understand skateboarding way beyond a video game. You have viewers that don’t watch skating videos, or skateboard themselves, so you have a wider and unique audience to teach the art form to! It’s a bridging the gap between virtual skateboarding and reality, and you are the bridge builder!! Thanks for the videos! 👍

Skater xl seems to have a similar issue to skate 3 where if you slide off a rail you get a random burst of speed. Not sure if its just translating your downward momentum too much, but it looks bad.

This would be one of my favorite parks if it worked better with the stats mod. I like the concept of the abandoned park with nature taking over. It makes timing tricks more rewarding.

I've always been team session. But after watching this.. I might just be for sxl...
I’m all for whatever one has the best animations, controls and aesthetics, they both look like they’re improving but it’ll take a lot to want to buy them over just playing Skate 1 and 2 more, those games are complete packages with interesting worlds, especially skate 1, but the tricks added to 2 and 3 make them worth playing
With time hopefully these games can reach the same ambitions as the Skate games, obviously they’re not made by AAA studios so I’ll just try to be optimistic, ill only want to skate around these new games for so long if they feel dull and lifeless like everything I’ve seen, great mechanics or not.
Im in the same boat, at the moment Skater XL is looking really good, but I think session has the base physics to be something bigger than SXL, i just have hopes both are enjoyable in the end
