Honestly I'm surprised they don't, even if it's not them you would think they would have a program or something like DARE where they go around to schools and events around the area and teach them this stuff. Maybe they do I just don't know but if they do, they need to do something different to get it through people's heads

Thank you for bringing awareness to many of the issues related to "nuisance alligators." I hadn't thought of the population boom in FL. I live in CA, and I think part of that population is from here. We don't have alligators roaming around here, so I am sure there are many ignorant people, who don't bother to research the state laws and regulations, while wandering around there. When you visit another state, country, you should KNOW things like this going in. Unfortunately, some people will feed wild animals, because they want that great pic, or the animal is "so cute." Some people don't think about the consequences to the animal, the environment... Some people just don't think, period. I have an acquaintance, [Association by spouse, or I would not have any exposure], who I've gone around and around with, on the subject of the ethics of good stewardship. It's like talking to a wall...

I live in the Colorado suburbs and I learned from my parents to be respectful of wild animals since birth. I know not to feed wild animals, let alone a gator! If I see a wild animal I just leave it alone and maybe take a pic only if it’s safe, and I’ve seen many. There was a black bear cub that ran into my next door neighbor’s front yard and ran up a tree, left a present on the lawn and then fled into the nearby greenbelt about four months ago. The police were aware of it, but no one felt like they were in danger. When I lived in Japan there was a “neighborhood tanuki” named Maru that people just let inside their house. I interacted with it a few times while having dinner with a neighbor and it always felt so weird. I’ve always loved gators and I hope to safely see one one day! Thank you for talking about this 😊

As someone who watches from the UK and we don’t have any alligators 🐊 I absolutely love watching ur channel and learning about the gators and what they do and how they are in general and how intelligent they are and that goes for all the animals as far people it’s a shame that they are so ignorant and don’t care about anything else than there lives but thank god for beautiful people like yourselves that do such a great job and care about them 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️🙏🏼

Some species have gone extinct due to human behavior, but some sre due to them being killed off by other predators. No humans, no preservation or conservation of forests or habitats. Humans are also responsible for healing sick and wounded animals, which would die if not for the superior IQ amd knowledge of Humans. Humans are responsible for a better standard of living not just for our own species but every other species as well. Humans are better in every single way. If not forHumans, there wpudl be dead carcasses, animal feces everywhere with overgorwn forestry some of which would catch on fire with no way to stop it likeCalifornia. .it's a good thing Humans know how to do controlled burning, huh.
I live a few minutes south of Grand Teton National Park and about an hour from the gates of Yellowstone National Park. I couldn't help but comment, when you mentioned Yellowstone. I feel the same way you do about people bugging alligators, as the people who try to ride a buffalo out here! It happens Sooooo many times out here, during the summer!

Congratulations again you two. I have not been so excited over an engagement + wedding since my granddaughter got engaged + wedding. It was booped up when she found out she was pregnant (with twins) 🎉Literally made me yell Yes!! Then I cried happily. I know over the top. But you guys are the epitome of a well matched unique couple. 🤎💚💙Earthy & Airy combined. Mother Earth & Father Sun ☀️ 🌍 Most of the Floridians I know complain mostly over the native wild life harming their cats and dogs. First off cats are an invasive-nuisance species nationally. But because they are domesticated pets they are not treated like the Burmese Python etc. The domesticated cat prehistorically hails from Southeast Asia area but Cats are not native to North America. Their ancestors are wild species of cats (Felis silvestris) that are native to Africa and Europe. Cats were first domesticated in Egypt around 2000 BC. Domestic cats were first brought to America by European colonists in the early 1600s. So why are cats granted special treatment that reptiles are not? This irks me. Don’t get me wrong I adore cats but they harm our natural wild life only just under humans do. We are over populated. I am all for limiting family size. I know how sociopathic of me but it is to not just save animals but to save our planet. We all live on this planet not just humans. I am a Californian and we and Floridians do not see eye to eye on many things. I have Family there. Interesting family reunions. Lol. I am 100% against trophy hunting I have always been against even as a wee one. Have you read about the wolf is back in California. Pray that these blood thirsty trophy hunters leave them alone. Great video! I go to Loxahatchee quite a bit. One day I saw a bunch of people feeding the gators so I made a comment ( I was very nice about it ) and they came after me yelling and telling me to leave and mind my own business. I see people do stupid stuff all the time. Common sense is gone. And God for bid something happens, they always blame the animal. It drives me crazy!

There are just too many bizarre stories coming out of Florida for me to want to visit there ever again much less live there. I visited a couple times, then a conference once at West Palm. Can’t see the attraction. But I do enjoy the stories and pictures of those who do find the place endearing. I’m happy y’all are happy there and I’m happy waaaay over here. 😂
My entire family has always said, if you get hurt by an animal 99.9% you did something wrong. It makes a lot of people mad when they say they got hurt by an animal and I ask what did you do? If they don't flip me off right away and I get them to talk me through what happened I can usually explain to them what it was that led to the incident and it's always the human.
I would love to hear you and Gabby speak about this topic in a non-professional setting. I would pay money for the uncensored version of how you feel about all of this. I know how deeply the anger burns when I see a video of Jimbob the wanna be king of the bayou calling his alligator over like a dog and feeding it chicken legs while showing it off to his friends Susan and Mavis. Jimbob Isn’t thinking about the people this Gator may encounter when he’s not around, what he’s gonna do if he gets his hand caught in that mouth, and what big Bertha is gonna do if Jimbob falls in. I understand wanting to feed them. I am a fat southern mom and feeding folks is my love language but you have to use your brain. If you really love gators, you have to do what is in their best interest. How do I know all this bomb @$$ wisdom? You and Gabby. I’m a shut in. I get obsessed over true crime and a case lead me to research alligator attacks. When you research alligator attacks, you learn that none of the stories ever start with “this guy was out minding his own business, adhering to the rules on signage and local state laws when a random gator showed up and unalived him in cold blood.” It’s all accidents and more often than not-people doing dumb sh*t. Thank you for all you have taught me. Information is a gift that people take for granted every day. If you read all of this rambling of a baked stranger from Mississippi, thank you! You guys are the best and congrats on the engagement. I can’t imagine how much cojones it took to do that in front of all those people. ❤
Yeah, at Yosemite NP black bears are the issue. Every place you can stay warns you not to leave your cooler in your car (bears are not stupid, and they know coolers have food in them.) Bears are extremely powerful, and can literally rip the doors off your car. Every place I’ve stayed in Yosemite has a “wall of shame” with pics of cars that bear have destroyed. Yet, still it keeps happening. I guess people just don’t believe it can happen to them, so they don’t follow instructions. Similar thing with how people react to signage regarding not feeding alligators, etc.
"People are stupid" This validates my worldview. "People get lost in the supermarket in their home town." I resent this. I _do not_ get lost in the supermarket. I get lost in the parking lot outside.

This conversation is so interesting. I agree with so much of what you guys are saying, but I do think there is a group of individuals, and where they are from doesn’t really matter, that have a little experience, or think they have experience, because they read a book or saw a show about some topic or animal, and so they are automatically experts on that subject in their mind. Maybe it is just a personality type. In any case, it doesn’t matter who you are, what your expertise or experience is, or what you have done, they just know more than you and love to tell you how much they know. They will argue with you regardless of what you say, and eventually they almost always end up making the argument personal and especially if you ask them for sources or credentials to back up their claims. They are just arrogant know it alls. I have long ago given up trying to talk to people like that because they won’t listen. It is sad, but there is nothing you can do to convince them of their ignorance, and sadly, in this case, the animals suffer. I also think social media and the internet has made these people even worse because they can take a little information they come across and use it to feed their egos, and in this case animals suffer.
I live in Houston, TX. Unfortunately there was a large gator that ended up getting killed because it was wandering around a Cinco Ranch neighborhood recently. It was probably being fed sadly. I love these animals so much but people really need to be responsible about their interactions with them.
I have a question with the upcoming cold weather where you live the iguanas that are out in the wild will it hurt them or kill them where the cold weather
I'm not 100% sure where they are, but I think they are far enough north that their area doesn't have iguanas. I think did live in an area far enough south to have the falling frozen iguanas but I'm not positive.
As a trapper its daily thing I get told why people called on the gator and the first thing they say it’s too aggressive and I ask what did it do ? And they tell me something either it was on the bank with its mouth open 🙄 or they tell me it attacked and ate a bird. 🤦🏼♂️ THATS NOT A NUISANCE

Most of the Floridians I know complain mostly over the native wild life harming their cats and dogs. First off cats are an invasive-nuisance species nationally. But because they are domesticated pets they are not treated like the Burmese Python etc. The domesticated cat prehistorically hails from Southeast Asia area but Cats are not native to North America. Their ancestors are wild species of cats (Felis silvestris) that are native to Africa and Europe. Cats were first domesticated in Egypt around 2000 BC.
Domestic cats were first brought to America by European colonists in the early 1600s. So why are cats granted special treatment that reptiles are not? This irks me. Don’t get me wrong I adore cats but they harm our natural wild life only just under humans do. We are over populated. I am all for limiting family size. I know how sociopathic of me but it is to not just save animals but to save our planet. We all live on this planet not just humans. I am a Californian and we and Floridians do not see eye to eye on many things. I have Family there. Interesting family reunions. Lol. I am 100% against trophy hunting I have always been against even as a wee one. Have you read about the wolf is back in California. Pray that these blood thirsty trophy hunters leave them alone. Great video! I go to Loxahatchee quite a bit. One day I saw a bunch of people feeding the gators so I made a comment ( I was very nice about it ) and they came after me yelling and telling me to leave and mind my own business. I see people do stupid stuff all the time. Common sense is gone. And God for bid something happens, they always blame the animal. It drives me crazy!
It’s a shame people don’t use common sense when it comes to interacting with nature!

Congratulations to you both, Vegas is good luck, was married there on 6/5/2004 and it's been over 20 years. 😉😁 There is a couple of gators floating around the pond/lake in Celebration, FL. When we were there two years ago, we watched some tourists throw stuff at the gators, very sad and refer to them as crocodiles. 🙄 Huge lack of education and just plain rotten people being mean to animals. I love it, unreal how dumb folks are especially all the reports coming out of Yellowstone this past summer. Your point about the liability is very interesting. There are just too many bizarre stories coming out of Florida for me to want to visit there ever again much less live there. I visited a couple times, then a conference once at West Palm. Can’t see the attraction. But I do enjoy the stories and pictures of those who do find the place endearing. I’m happy y’all are happy there and I’m happy waaaay over here. 😂

My entire family has always said, if you get hurt by an animal 99.9% you did something wrong.
It makes a lot of people mad when they say they got hurt by an animal and I ask what did you do? If they don't flip me off right away and I get them to talk me through what happened I can usually explain to them what it was that led to the incident and it's always the human.

I would love to hear you and Gabby speak about this topic in a non-professional setting. I would pay money for the uncensored version of how you feel about all of this. I know how deeply the anger burns when I see a video of Jimbob the wanna be king of the bayou calling his alligator over like a dog and feeding it chicken legs while showing it off to his friends Susan and Mavis. Jimbob Isn’t thinking about the people this Gator may encounter when he’s not around, what he’s gonna do if he gets his hand caught in that mouth, and what big Bertha is gonna do if Jimbob falls in. I understand wanting to feed them. I am a fat southern mom and feeding folks is my love language but you have to use your brain. If you really love gators, you have to do what is in their best interest. How do I know all this bomb @$$ wisdom? You and Gabby. I’m a shut in. I get obsessed over true crime and a case lead me to research alligator attacks. When you research alligator attacks, you learn that none of the stories ever start with “this guy was out minding his own business, adhering to the rules on signage and local state laws when a random gator showed up and unalived him in cold blood.” It’s all accidents and more often than not-people doing dumb sh*t. Thank you for all you have taught me. Information is a gift that people take for granted every day. If you read all of this rambling of a baked stranger from Mississippi, thank you! You guys are the best and congrats on the engagement. I can’t imagine how much cojones it took to do that in front of all those people. ❤
Yeah, at Yosemite NP black bears are the issue. Every place you can stay warns you not to leave your cooler in your car (bears are not stupid, and they know coolers have food in them.) Bears are extremely powerful, and can literally rip the doors off your car. Every place I’ve stayed in Yosemite has a “wall of shame” with pics of cars that bear have destroyed. Yet, still it keeps happening. I guess people just don’t believe it can happen to them, so they don’t follow instructions. Similar thing with how people react to signage regarding not feeding alligators, etc.

This conversation is so interesting. I agree with so much of what you guys are saying, but I do think there is a group of individuals, and where they are from doesn’t really matter, that have a little experience, or think they have experience, because they read a book or saw a show about some topic or animal, and so they are automatically experts on that subject in their mind. Maybe it is just a personality type. In any case, it doesn’t matter who you are, what your expertise or experience is, or what you have done, they just know more than you and love to tell you how much they know. They will argue with you regardless of what you say, and eventually they almost always end up making the argument personal and especially if you ask them for sources or credentials to back up their claims. They are just arrogant know it alls. I have long ago given up trying to talk to people like that because they won’t listen. It is sad, but there is nothing you can do to convince them of their ignorance, and sadly, in this case, the animals suffer. I also think social media and the internet has made these people even worse because they can take a little information they come across and use it to feed their egos, and in this case animals suffer.
One way to slow or reverse the numbers of people moving to Florida is to make blue states and cities, red.
Not easy, but doable in time.
I live in Houston, TX. Unfortunately there was a large gator that ended up getting killed because it was wandering around a Cinco Ranch neighborhood recently. It was probably being fed sadly. I love these animals so much but people really need to be responsible about their interactions with them.
I have a question with the upcoming cold weather where you live the iguanas that are out in the wild will it hurt them or kill them where the cold weather
I'm not 100% sure where they are, but I think they are far enough north that their area doesn't have iguanas.
I think did live in an area far enough south to have the falling frozen iguanas but I'm not positive.
One shouldn't feed wildlife period.

As a trapper its daily thing I get told why people called on the gator and the first thing they say it’s too aggressive and I ask what did it do ? And they tell me something either it was on the bank with its mouth open 🙄 or they tell me it attacked and ate a bird. 🤦🏼♂️ THATS NOT A NUISANCE
