The next contestants for "Guess That Bassline" are Chris and Shannon, all the way from Portland! Chris and I used to be in a cover band together and one of the songs we played was a Muse song. Was I able to stump them with one of their favorite bands? Check out the video to find out!

randomly landed on this video and made me realize i have to pay more attention to the bass in songs cause ive heard every single song by Muse and at one point of my life i listened to nothing but Muse for two years so when i didnt recognized several of them i was shook.
Don't blame yourself for that. It's because this dude is playing all of these terribly.

I wonder if it would've been easier for the contestants if the tone of the bass matched the songs better. Also, the performance of each part could've been better as well. For example, the notes in Plug-in Baby don't ring over each other.
Plug in baby was tricky cause for me, it was played wrong

yeah. i say he cheated with 5, 'cause if he'd played it properly, then it'd have been obvious from the start.
but he played it super softly and slightly slower than it should have been.
The distortion is missing so it got me too
I never listened to seperated basslines before. And i'm dont really play instruments. But is he playing all these with....lags? Like sometimes he's late? They sound so familiar yet so weird. I only got 3.
I got all of them. The Invincible one almost tricked me at the beginning but the last part of the baseline was the key :)
I'm so furious by the fact that I missed the one from Time is Running Out... It was super fun tho!
She had the right idea for song 5, when she asked "What's the one where it's like a slower song?"
I nailed all the track except the trick question one, the fact he play the male choir from survival on the bass immediately wipe my memory data

I've listened to Muse WAY more than a healthy person should, like sickenly obsessed with the band for 2 years, but I barely recognized any of them. I'm wondering what the fuck is wrong with me
you likely didn't get them because the guy played most of them wrong.
best example is Plug in Baby. played too softly and too slowly.

I got them all apart from "Time is Running Out"; it's from the bridge-of-8 at the end of two of the choruses, which tripped me up.
Didn't get the trick one either, but not so bothered about that one hehehe
I adore Muse so I was more than pleased to have a good knowledge with this 😂
I got all of them wrong except for Knights and Supermassive.... Im not sure if Im a worthy Muse fan anymore ...

I got 6 out of 7 and the bonus question. Time Is Running Out just completely threw me off, even despite it being one of my favourite Muse songs.
My brain was scanning for songs in D minor and it didn't cross my mind that it might not be.
I could hear the whole section but might not have gotten Hysteria if they hadn't mentioned it, for a sec I thought that section was in Stockholm Syndrome.
Knights of Cydonia, Plug In Baby and Invincible were pretty easy, Survival and Muscle Museum stumped me

Got all of them but that’s because I used to listen to Muse religiously for a fair while and even seen them live back in 2013. Great video and I’ll definitely have to check out more of your channel.

Even he played not 100% accurate , i got them all. Yey! the chord progressions is so unique and typical on each muse song
Well, I got 5/7, but the ones I didn't get were all songs I haven't heard more than once and the ones I did get are either super popular or among my favorites, so I'm still not entirely sure what this means in terms of my ear. It doesn't help that they kept suggesting songs I'm a huge fan of. I've learned absolutely nothing from this experience, but at least I had fun, and I can brag about being better than two strangers that I've never met before in my life. Thank you for this wonderful, life-altering experience. 👍

I'll admit that i repeated like 2 of these but been listening to Muse since 99 and glad to say I got them all and even got the trick question. Great content.
I re-listened to the last one like fifty times and then kinda gave up and said Invincible as a final guess I was so happy and suprised that I got it😅

got everything but Survival but I play bass, love muse, and already knew how to play everything but Survival. Plug in baby wasn't instantly recognized because I play it an octave lower and with fuzz

Time Is Running Out was hard to get at first, but then I managed. Failed Song 7 though, maybe because I didn’t listen to Invincible a lot. Cool game!

Got 5/7, for Time Is Running Out I thought it was Plug-In Baby (but realized I was wrong as soon as they said their guess), and for Invincible I thought it was Map of Your Head, even though it seemed highly unlikely.
4/7. The only one I should have gotten that I didn’t was Time is Running Out. I don’t even know Muscle Museum and Plug in Baby did not sound right to me.

6/7 and I didn’t get the trick question right. I sorta forgot how Muscle Museum sounded like.
Not being familiar with the instrumental parts of songs, I only recognized a few. A couple of the songs I actually haven't even heard yet, as I'm still working through their discography. Most I recognized but couldn't place.
7/7 but didn’t have enough time to think about the Trick Question. It wasn’t that hard because I mostly listen to the bass when i listen to music and I’m a masssssssive Muse fan.I play the drums and the uke but bass is my goal instrument. One day when i’m older i’ll learn how to play it!

I got all but the trick question and the last one. I guessed Sing for Absolution for both lol. I almost guessed Hyper Music for Plug In Baby, but I cheated and listened to the clip again... Eh, same album!
invincible the bass like out of context wooow loll you got me there was just no song coming to my mind.. but i had thee rest although i thought like the plug in baby riff couldn't be plug in baby and i double checked to be sure and i don't want to be picky but my hesitations came from a missing note cos you played doomda doomdoom ta da but there's a short syncopated note missing cos Chris Wolstenholme plays doomda (da) doomdoom ta da
You may be right about Plug In Baby. I thought that he played it slightly different between the intro and verse, but I could definitely be off there.

I got all but the trick question which I'm not counting because that felt dumb. Though I don't blame them for not getting some of these, without the same or even similar effects while also lacking the right energy while you play stuff like plug in baby becomes a bit harder.
I found the trick question was among the easier "bass lines" to figure out, I got that one immediately. The chord progression is pretty recognisable.
