Go listen to mr bungle jimmy "the revs" favorite band. Then all will make sense.
It will make songs like ficition and a little piece of heaven make a lot sense too.
This song is the definition of never let them know your next move. Love it
Great way to put it
Pray for u …
That doesn't mean it's good tho lmao
@@harveydurrance it is
@@TrophySon1996 indeed i think it’s a masterpiece their are so many different genres combined in one song. And damn Matt’s vocals are very interesting as well. Their are cleans, highs, lows and growls.
I just love how they achieved peak commercial success with HTTK and then were just like "fuck it, prog"
And people still call them sellouts, that's hilarious
@@irkhan4505 They're pandering now because the radio doesn't play them anymore.
@@DerrickRG how is going full prog pandering? lmao
that's the opposite of pandering, especially considering what 90% of their old fans liked them for.
Fuck around and find out. Positive ending
@@DerrickRGthis is the opposite of pandering lol
This is what metal music needs. Experimentation, strange shit, new atmospheres, pushing boundaries, many styles combining together. Absolutely LOVE this track, Avenged Sevenfold became one of the most interesting metalcore bands off of the 2000s for me. Can't wait for the album.
I mean it's refreshing to see that they are doing completely different experimentation. Typical verse/chorus pattern is getting pretty boring tbh.
This song is legit every Avenged seven fold style change they went through.
hey
This is more cohesive than it appears on a first listen. You literally need to listen to this more than once or it doesn't work
I don’t understand how people don’t just immediately re-listen to it. You get done with the 1st listen and you’re like “what what?” And hit replay
I agree. First listen I thought it was insane and all over the place but at this point it just sounds normal to me.
@@nickiekover6885 I must've listened to it like 5 times in a row when i first heard it
@@nickiekover6885exactly what i do. Everytime i hear a new song i listen two or three times to get the structure down
@@nickiekover6885 Some of us are just wired to like what we like. For example I'm a Rivers of Nihil fan and it took like 7 listens to appreciate most of the songs on their 2021 album " The Work" when the previous three albums are amazing lmfao
It's clear that now more than ever, they want their music to send a message more so than to be a hit. I like that personally. It would be so simple for them to just cut and paste some radio hits but they continue to break the mold with every release. I know that a lot of fans are going to be upset at these releases, and likely this album as a whole, but I can really respect trying to put some deeper meaning behind your music rather than just doing it to make money. This band really speaks to me in a profound way.
I think that A7X has been releasing music that is more directed to people who can appreciate the musicality and originality of each individual aspect of their creation. One of the other comments had stated that they don't need opportunity in order to succeed anymore, and i think that's very much correct. Matt had tweeted that they are making music for the sake of music, not so that they can plaster the title of "metal band" on their placard; and this album really shows that he means that. It's different, it's not for everyone, but the musical talent is explosive.
@Dragon Ball fans can't read wants and needs of humans and governement and the effects of going into the future and then everything in shambles and broken at the end. all in the lyrics and video dude
They could have EASILY done radio rock songs and be bigger. This and The Stage years ago proved to me at least that like Deftones, they are willing to explore new sounds and territory but still with heavy sounds.
@@SylvieAurora Oh cool anyway
Every time he says "more", I think of myself scrolling through Instagram Reels, watching people repeat trends to get more and more engagement, more views, more likes, more, more, more... People talking about how to make money, build something, be someone, be better than the rest. Algorithms dictating how things are while everyone says they love you because you're unique... while the music changes completely every minute like a Tik Tok video. Music is art and art also serves to provoke.
@Dragon Ball fans can't read “lyrics aren’t music” bahahahaha you’re delusional
My biggest take away from this song is that Matt is screaming again, and that automatically has me excited for new songs from them.
But.....why? screaming isn't always good.
I went to their immersive album thing in vegas and all I can say about this album is, its all over the place.
@@beatlesfn1015 i seriously appreciate that you didn’t go and say to much about the experience despite knowing it 🙏🏽
@@davidsakamoto9353 screaming is pretty important tho
@@LordOfTheJizz Is it? There's plenty of great metal that doesn't have screaming. Don't get me wrong, I all of my favorite bands incorporate screaming but it's not enough to save a shitty song.

@@AnthonyDavis-kh7zd f u 😂😂😂😂
For me it gets better the more I listen to it. That first listen had my jaw on the floor tho
You can’t catch it all at first, u gotta listen a few times. Masterpiece
Yeah I wasn’t impressed the first time
I find myself playing it a few times a day and singing the chorus to my newborn. "and we love youuuuu." After Nobody released I was like "ohh this is different. I kinda like this" and now after hearing 'We Love You,' I'm totally obsessed. Bought tix to go see them at MSG in June.
I was the same way.
Ive not enjoyed any song on this album....the first time.. now i cant stop playing them thats how i know im ready for their new direction
yeah after Nobody I realized I had to open up my expectations to basically anything, so I'll try to be ready for whatever they throw at us
Yeah I needed like 3 listens for Nobody to worm its way into my brain, so I reserved judgement for this song. Sure enough, I realized after 4 listens to this song that I was humming the refrain on repeat
Same. I've listened to them since their first album and thought the same. But everyday I wake up and the first thing I think about is "Build tall, build higher". Might be genius.
There’s so much unexpected in just these two or three songs so far… I really don’t know whats coming on the rest of the album. Holy shit, bring it on.
@@SlimJimJoeym excited to hear more of the orchestral pieces considering they delayed the album for the orchestra to be involved
The inspiration of Mr. Bungle in A7X has always been evident, but this song is definitely Mr. Bungle
I was literally gonna comment that everyone who thinks this is crazy and all over the place has never heard Mr bungles first album
Or disco volante
that soft bridge before the second chorus sounds exactly like the intro to slowly growing deaf. Like, spot on.
First thing I thought like 10 seconds in. Big early Warner Bros. era Bungle vibes
For real man.
Matt did say that he and Syn had a lot of experiences with psychedelics when making the album and it definitely translates to both the lyrics and music especially when you consider the overall lyrical theme of the album as a whole, which is humanity and in this song in particular, ADHD and what people who have it go through in their minds on a daily basis thus explaining why it's all over the place like something System Of A Down or even Mr. Bungle would write.
Does that mean shadows and syn doing drugs? Or just experience psychedelics through movies/books or something?
They actually took psychedelics to really feel what they were writing about
Yup. Listening to this song as an ADHD is such a trip because if feels like they put what goes on inside my head into a song and I love it. I've been listening to it multiple times a day cuz it's just such a trip and I feel weirdly connected to it.
They should just do the acid or shrooms and sell their instruments cuz this is WACK
@@nickkduhh yeah, i watched the trax podcast, but im not a native english and didnt know dmt or something like that before, so i thought they just watched some films or books titled dmt to make the album.
I think the album is going to be even stranger and I’m all for it.
hey
At first I was like "man wtf I'll never listen to this thing again" and now I'm here watching your video and singing "more power, more sex" all the freaking day hahaha. It's weird af man but it's what make it a great song, I'm glad they're pushing boundaries.
Tbf, I'm still at the first step 😂 but I know they are the kind of bands that require multiple listen so I hope I'll make it through
@@rialyandriamiseza9814have you hit that stage yet?
@@guitarkid9623 unfortunately no, I like the album so much now. But this song and G...I tried my best but I don't like them

This is like ADHD through a musical representation. Everything was all over but nothing felt out of place to me

I've had this song on repeat for the last 2 days. Every time I listen to it I feel like I hear something else, I'm not sure if I actually do, but I'm just obsessed.
Me too but it gets stuck in my head lol
Me too. That’s mind blowing
Me too! Sometimes even felt sad hearing in the morning. The solo made me feel .. cant even explain. Love this song
As a Mr. Bungle fan for 30 years, I totally get why Avenged did this, and I LOVE IT! The Rev would've loved this, and I think this progression is a great follow-up to "The Stage".
Not very many people know about revs love for bungle. But this is bungle all fucking day.
Agreed 👌🤘
@@franciscoennesbe6914 It's more than one era of Bungle, to boot.
Trippy as fucking hell and i love it
i love this song so much. its so perfectly chaotic and weird to me. super excited for the new album. a lot of people are gonna hate it but i like where A7X is going with it
I agree. I see a lot of people disliking the new songs, but I love them, even though I wasn't sold on nobody at first.
Same bro!
@@jondarberry8204 still not crazy about "nobody" but "we love you" is up there with my fav avenger sevenfold song rn
I like it for sure. I mean, The Stage had some funky-ness to it as well but it's a damn good album, hoping this'll turn out the same.
I absolutely loved it! Thought it was such a trip and the heavy stuff was awesome! Matt is sounding better than ever!
hey
Just saw them perform this song live and it's fucking insane.
Watched them play this live a couple days ago, sick asf
I used to be a diehard A7X fan but fell off them in recent years. As someone who loves Waking the Fallen through Nightmare the most, this song and Nobody have got me back on the bandwagon HARD. Love both tracks a ton and they remind me why I love this band so much. So excited for the album
I'd highly recommend listening to The Stage in its entirety. Would have to put it up as my favorite avenged album other than Nightmare. Will also give more context leading up to their current direction.
@@lost4weeks i can second this, the stage, city of evil, and waking the fallen are tied top 3 personally
It’s not a bandwagon my guy. You left the nest, explored a bit, and you came back home. ❤️ it’s all good :)
could not agree more with this comment. i didn't know if they still had it without jimmy. but i think his ghost wrote this new album lol
I was a diehard fan of the first 4 records but this ain't it....for me. I honestly prefer the httk direction to this.
Acoustic part at the end is definitely a David Gilmour tribute/inspiration of the solo in High Hopes
This is what I wanted from them. I want a "The Wall" for modern metal.
There’s no doubt in my mind that this album will be a flowing concept album. I feel like we are just listening to chapters now and the whole story will flow way better
This is what my anti-metal dad hears when I listen to Tool
To be fair, tool is kinda trash
I've never been a huge fan of A7x, but I think this album is gonna convert me. How did A7x just become one of the coolest modern prog metal bands out of nowhere?
I mean they weren't this experimental before but their last "The Stage" album showed a lot of love they had for prog metal, you may like some of the songs from that album if u wanna check it out, here are some good ones:
Sunny Disposition
Simulation
Creating God
Fermi Paradox
Higher
Paradigm
And the most experimental one "Exist"
@@snitchex5087 yeah, that album was decent, one of their better ones. But it definitely wasn't this good. I don't hate all of A7x, The Stage and City of Evil are decent, and the first album has some charm to it, I've just never liked them enough to consider myself a "fan."
fuck prog metal
This song hits so much harder than Nobody. I immediately was all for what they were trying to achieve with this one and personally love it. Its not for everyone but I urge people to give it a true listen a couple of times, its not as over the place as it perceives on 1st listen. Love the structure and meaning
This made me laugh so much, ive been meaning to watch the video too, so thank you
XD
Pink Floyd vibes. Lamb of God vibes. Rammstein vibes, Dream Theather vibes. It’s Legendary indeed. Thanks professor , you’ve expanded my musical theory knowledge to a whole different level. You deserve payment indeed. May the universe and God Bless you. All your series are so informative but enjoying the “How to be X band “ ones more fascinating by the moment.
Can tell syn finally let his love for mr bungle out on this song
im actually kinda glad to hear Matt screaming again, knowing his voice is healthy enough again that he can do it is awesome. cant wait to see what still to come
The quick transitions really contribute to the chaotic feel of the song, it makes the song very relatable to me in some weird, beautiful way
I fucking love the song! You got a bit of The Stage in there, then 7th Trumpet breakdown out of nowhere, into a beautiful acoustic outro that reminds me of City of Evil. Honestly in love with this song. I’m excited to see how the entire album will turn out
Happy, confused, and sad at the same time is the perfect way to describe this song
This is the first song of theirs I've actually loved since the album Nightmare came out. I think it has great replay value. It always comes back to the chorus and ends with an amazing outro.
What about The Stage?
I honestly I'm loving this experimental stuff they are trying to do
I don't think it's an easy listening, but the more i listen to it the more i like it
The verse and the variations they do on it are sick
I never heard this song until i seen them play it at Rockville a few days ago. Got hella chills in the crowd
Your reaction was so good! I just wanna point out that I felt the same way when first heard it, but (not to be that guy) the more you listen, the more the structure and the nonexistent transitions become "normal". Anyway, love your vids man!
A band needs to evolve in order to stay together, and I believe Avenged has done this. Also, brooks drumming is very well written.
Petition to have a song like waking the fallen again. The screaming part and the riff after are so good would love the whole song like that
Mattel is that song :)
@@CatProph3t I’ve heard it’s heavy like older avenged heavy it’s killing me I need to listen lol
Same man! Im excited for a waking the fallen styled song after 20 years
One of the last parts of the video is you rowing your boat gently down the stream, merrily, life is but a dream.
It’s like Car Bomb, System of a Down and Slayer have a baby with The Stage Album and take a whole bags of mushroom and went down to Louisiana and at the same time they’re watching a Terminator movie
It needs to be listened to again! It does things for your mind!
I didn't think I was gonna replay this song either... Now I can't stop listening to it
Was waiting for this reaction
This song was all over and it took me a second listen to really appreciate it
Thank you for reacting to this! I was looking forward to seeing your reaction as soon at the song dropped. I personally love this one!
To me honestly this has a lot of replay value for me, I am a pretty big fan of the band so I personally have enjoyed just about everything they put out, and as for people saying “can’t wait for them to try and play this live” they literally did the other day at their first show after 5 years. It sounded great and pretty close to studio version, and m shadows voice sounds amazing and healthy again. People shitting on these last 2 songs but tbh I love them and love the direction they are going. I’m seeing them live September 22 for the first time ever and after hearing nobody and we love you I’m even more excited for the album and tour.
Feels like they are channeling some old Pinkly Smooth vibes into this song. I personally love the direction this album is taking
The Mr Bungle influences are coming out in full force now
Something about this has the rev written all over it and I love it
I’ve replayed this way more than Nobody, I actually love this song
I was expecting more weirder songs after they revealed nobody, but I wasn't expecting this. I'm so excited to see how much weirder it can get.
I have a spotify playlist which I've named "Sonic Insanity" for songs that are just batshit insane. This song is now on that playlist.
I’ve been waiting for you to talk about this video. So excited lol
I feel like they were possessed by demons when they wrote this song lmao!
and the more i hear it the more i love it 😘🤘
I freaking love this song. Can't wait for the album ❤
Honestly this song is addicting, Deffo one of my favorites
I am addicted to this song, it's so bizarre and catchy. I'm excited for this new direction they're going
i absolutely love this song, it became an instant playlist candidate.
On top of it all, they played it live! I can't believe it!
The song was a huge shock to me at first. But it grew on me a lot. Like the message behind it too and the heavy guitar pumped me up and loved the slide guitar
I've been waiting for this 🔥
The two songs out so far really grow on you the more you listen and I am here for it. 99% of the time i feel like the complete opposite happens
Honestly I prefer it over nobody, I have this song on repeat, it's really interesting when you listen to it closely
This song is like a summary of their music journey, and the last part of 'We Love You' from Matt until the end sounds like an appreciation for their fans❤
Saw them at Rockville Friday night. These new songs are AWESOME live. They played Game Over (opener), We Love You, and Nobody in the set. I hadn’t seen them in so long (12/2007) and they did not disappoint except for maybe the set length. The crowd and I went WILD too. Such a good live band
I felt the exact same way about it when I first listened to it and 2 days later I cant stop listening to it 😂 its a journey
This is a piece of art and the best thing I heard this year
Mr. Bungle x2 and I love it. Always wore their influences on their sleeves
This reaction from beginning to end including the hilarious on screen commentary (“this is your brain on NFTs”) is exactly mine 😂 especially at the very end. I couldn’t make it past a quarter of the song but watching this reaction vid is technically the first time I’ve listened to the whole song (and I am never hitting play on it again). A7x has yet to release a song I would hit play on again this year. Waiting for this as an OpenSea NFT with opening bid in ETH.
As a fan who’s been with them since WTF, and as someone who’s favorite album of all time is COE, this direction isn’t what I wanted but I acknowledge that the song is unique and it’s definitely an experience.
It doesn’t follow the “rules” of metal music as we’ve know it to be to this day.
I support them and I’m excited to see where they’ll take us. I’m sure ill like at least some of the songs on the new album.
But deep down I’ll always want new material reminiscent of COE era.
Jesus dude, the album with Bat Country on it.... you're trying to ruin their career😂
Since what the fucc?
This song has grown on me.. even though im still not sure if I like it or not.. I can’t stop hearing the song over and over in my head
This song is a trip the first time you listen to it but the more you listen to it the better it gets i felt the same with the stage and with their last single. Imagine that middle thrash type section as a full song though.... one can dream
That more and build build build, reminds me of the lyrics of Empire - August Burns Red. Talking about never having enough and constantly building
“You can’t just say new song every 20 seconds” lmao. Yea I’ve been waiting for this review.
I got to listen to the entire album early in Vegas, and holy fuck it’s some of their heaviest, most creative, spookiest, most beautiful work they have ever written. Very deep. Lots of layers. Lots of depth. So much to explore. It is probably my second favorite album behind the stage.
I love this album so much. I love the depth and how rich it is and it’s themes and combined with the album art has so much personality and style. I love it so much. I love the stage (my favorite album) for the same reason. I love this direction avenged is going in and fully support it. I love that they are doing different things and trying new sounds. The prog elements and what they came up with fit the album’s themes and art work and depth and is just a beautifully deep and trippy experience. These guys are so talented and are incapable of writing bad music. I can’t wait for the album to release so I can hear the whole thing in its entirety again.
I just think the 3D experience is so innovative man, its like the next level of music video artistry, I was very confused by the song but along with the video it was truly like a drug trip and all the visuals somehow worked for me.
I loved nick's reaction Lmao "I'm so happy and confused.. and sad for some reason??" 😂
I love this song. It feels like one big fever dream and I never even watched the video on first listen. I am excited to experience this new album.
I read some of the comments on their Instagram post before listening and so many people were bitching about it, I LOVE the track and I really haven’t loved their stuff since Nightmare… this is amazing stuff.
It’s crazy, but this song sounds even better live
Saw them perform both new songs at Rockville festival in Daytona a few days ago. They’re great live and Matt sounds amazing so expect more screams on the rest of the album :)
Bro your reaction was the same as mine, btw.
I've been listening to A7x since high school days (and I'm fucking 30), and this song gave me the same vibe their early stuff hit when I was young.
I feel the melody of Sounding the Seventh Trumpeth, the screams of Waking the Fallen, the raw power of City of Evil, the circus-esque tunes of Avenged Sevenfold, the feelings of Nightmare, the rage of Hail to the King and the Cosmic insanity of The Stage.
This song is the reason why I fucking love these guys.
good sir, this is a song that needs to be played a few times to fully embrace and enjoy
Can we just talk about that wicked fast rythm that Zacky is gonna have to play during Syn's solo. I think its the same chord progressioin from the start of the song. Good luck beign tight every night with that
This songs is genius.
Just seeing and hearing this song for the first time. All i have to say is what a roller coaster 🎢 this song is.
It’s beautiful. First listen was odd for me but wow I love it now
A7X has always had Prog elements in their music, but Holy shit they're REALLY going all in on them this album. 😵💫
I remeber first time to listen SOAD Chop Suey and Nicks reaction was the same recation that i had on Chop Suey. We Love You is an amazing art that ears can hear but still art is subjective. To like this song you really have to replay it like few times just to get used to it. This song is definition of clusterfuck XD.
Sending love and support from Croatia brother
I like this song in a lot of places, especially the acoustic part at the end. The video matches perfectly and i like that Avenged is writing songs that kinda grow on you, like Nobody and this one it takes a few times to listen to it rather than having to think about how to express your feelings on the songs. I am hyped for the rest of the album
such an amazing song once you hear it some times
Listened to the entire album yesterday at the Vegas experience and let me say y’all are in for a treat. This song gives you a pretty good idea of the weird shit going on here. If nothing else, Mattel is worth the record alone. By far the heaviest song they’ve dropped in years.
if you don’t mind, how’s the title track (life is but a dream), beautiful morning and g / ordinary / death
I’m looking forward to those tracks, especially since I wanna listen to one of the songs from the album when I play cod zombies
@@rosenrot8187 People who already experienced the new album are saying that title track is piano instrumental.
@@rosenrot8187 yup, title track is a piano instrumental.
The GOD tracks are extremely out there. G is pretty much a funk metal song with some of the coolest guitar/drum work I’ve heard in a long time.
Ordinary could fit on a daft punk record. If it weren’t for Matt you’d have no idea it was Avenged.
Death was is part ballad with moments of tension/dread brought about through the jarring tonal shift. It feels like it could be a Mike Patton side project.
The first 7 tracks are much more “conventional” prog metal tracks.
I was there on Sunday, too! The whole album is fantastic, and yes. Lots of weird, but good, shit
So far with this album, I've realized I need to listen to the song a few times over a week or so to really start enjoying the songs. First listen through this and Nobody made me really disappointed, but the songs grew on me.
