I owned this lens for a while when it first came out and loved it - unfortunately I had to sell it during lockdown but I am hoping to get one again soon. Great video thank you :)
I only use prime Lenses. I have not tried the Sony 35mm 1.8 and I will not, because I have the Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar 35mm 2.8 ZA which is half the size of the Sony and under half the weight of the Sony, I got it used for US$215 included taxes. I also have the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical which is about the same size as the Sony, but it is built like a tank and the optical image quality is outstanding, second to none.

Recently hired this lense for a wedding (for video). Couldn't get the 35mm f/1.4 GM, so I hired this one. And let me tell you, I'm super impressed even in low-light. I'm going to buy one soon. I used it on my Sony A7III. So, if you are considering it, let me be the extra buy confirmation you might need.
i just bought this lense for around £180 and ive used it for a day or 2 and im going to a boxing venue to shoot ringside today so i cant wait to use this
I have a question, so july 1st i have my first wedding to shoot. Now looking into buying Sony Alpha 7iv together with the Sigma 24-70 so i can shoot it with one lens (the camera i have now is fujifilm xs10, which would be my backup camera) with buying the a7iv i'm getting a 100 euro discount on Sony lenses. Now i was wondering if i could buy this lens for the couple shoot and the evening since it has more bokeh and lets in more light. I will also have a flash. Do you think thats good or would you just stick with the sigma and save money to buy a more expensive lens from Sony? Really hope somebody could help me. Thanks!
You're gonna hate me, I just purchased the Samyang 24mm 1.8 even tho u told me not to. I got it for $250 and I'll return it if the Color Aberration is noticably horrible as you've presented. I'll update you Saturday when I recieve it! Wish me luck lol
I still use the lens! It's good for video stuff as it's one of the cheapest 24mm you can get. And for landscapes at f/4+ it's fine! My only issue with it was advertising it as an astro lens when the ca is so noticeable at f/1.8
@@JackWoodhams It arrived and I'm getting extreme focus hunting in movie mode. I was wondering if you experience the same thing (on the 24mm) My firmware is also out of date, not sure if that would be it
Not suitable for video because of heavy focus breathing, but almost perfect for photography. And no, focus breathing compensation doesn’t solve this problem, it steals resolution and introduces crop-factor.
@@igorzhidkov1957 On the a7IV, it doesn't steal anything because the final 4K result is the oversampling from 7K. Focus breathing and crop factor reduce the 7K to something lower and that is still bigger than 4K. Hence, the final 4K result is still sharp.

I'm quite new to photography, would Sony a6000 with default lens (SELP1650) and this one be a good collection to start with? I'm just trying to take photos, but not videos.
This would be around a 50mm on APSC sensor (a6000) so yeah! But personally as you have the 16-50 id go with something over 35mm so you have more coverage.

Interesting video but the flashing lights in your room were distracting and the super annoying flashing grainy/dusty background to your photos wasn't arty, it was positively epilepsy inducing. Only got to 1.23 before I ended it, such a shame
If you have an issue with a tiny green led which shows volume on an audio recorder in the bottom right of a video ur looking at the wrong thing. no worries. Thanks for trying.
Get the Samyang 35mm F1.8 instead. The Sony one sucks, really bad coma at night and at F1.8 crazy chromatic aberration. Samyang is about the same price, size and weight but sharper and much less problematic.

This video is for the Sony 35mm FE 1.8 so I can't give you any advice on those other lenses. The Sony is great. I'd avoid Samyang, too many QC issues.

You should mention that it is the FE 35mm f/1.8 lens, because there is also the 35mm F1.8 OSS for E mount.
