Love the wave on reflection. I haven’t seen any Dolphins this year on all my travels. I think all my electronic gadgetry frightens them off. Great that your uploading every few days. I now have something to watch. Well done on the fastnet rock.
We had no dolphins that I can remember last year, food must of been short for them. That’s the first for this year as well so May it continue. All the best mike
Our first time passing the Fastnet was 2006 when we hired for 10 days holiday a 50ft Beneteau and skipper from Kinsale to try discover if sailing with 3 small boys was a viable option. The following year we bought Wavedancer..
Well that's one of your list then. For you at least. The rest of us needs to drag our big behinds around the rock ourselves at som point. Well I sure hope to one day anyway. Thanks for shearing. Its always a pleasure to watch. Best regards from Jarle
@@sailingcosiloveit 😄😄😄 when I've done the Norwegian coast I'd like to see Rockall , the Fastnet rock and everything in between... shetland and the faroes on my way there... so there is nothing wrong with my ambitions, my only problem is to achieve it 🤔 thanks for keeping the pressure on. Best regards from Jarle
Well done. Great shots of the Fastnet! The name Gascanane Sound comes from the Irish Súnta an Ghaisceanáin. It is said to be named for the thirteenth century merchant Amhlaoibh Gascúnach, who received his nickname, “the Gascon,” because of his training in the vineyards of that French province.
great videos, I'm really enjoying them. Another channel I watch called SV Roquetta is also doing the jester challenge, so might see your brother on that,
Fabulous a calm day. been around the fastnet in a Force 8 it's a very different place then . My buddy has a southerly up the river from castletownsend great spot..the castle is in the village .
Castletownsend didn't have a castle like a Norman keep it was a later fortified Manor house still lived in by the Townsend family . The fastnet is /was called Irelands tear drop as it was the last bit of Ireland visible as the emigrants saw on passage to America . Where are ye now?
Used to do summer holidays there as a kid day trips on the train later we rent a caravan in redbarn half way to knockadoon. The river bed is still privately owned by the Duke of Devonshire from fermoy to moll gogins corner . There should be a lot more yachts there but mooring is expensive. I hit the wall going around moll gogins corner going flat out just after the lighthouse . 60 mpg my first near death experience I saw the other side and wanted to stay there . But I'm back and several nde s later I'm still here . Are ye anchored or by the key wall . Mobile dick was filmed there Gregory peck as captain ahab.
I watched your last one at 2 in the morning next to my sleeping wife. I had to laugh so loud in that minute, you fooled Lisa on 6 to actual 4 am 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 so hilarious 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 Than the angry 😠 😠 eye roll she gave you sitting on the floor 😅😅😅😅 The moment YOU said, "she loves me anyway," made me almost pee myself 😅😅😅laughing 😅😅😅😅😅 U2 are hilariously funny 😅😅😅
Great episode! I've only seen video of Fastnet Rock when it's blowing like hell. Where did you learn all this stuff!? The name of this rock and that stone. It's quite impressive.
Hi Edward I’m not really very clever, just wing it most of the time. I do study my charts and almanacs well though. I also study tides because out here they are my best friend. Regards mike
Hello Mike 2:25 bimbags/binbags? Not familiar with the term, assuming something like FAC (flat ass calm) or slick cam. What's the origin? Very much enjoying your and Lisa's journey aboard Swallow, thanks for sharing.
Hi John, if you have ever seen a black bin bag on the surface of the water it just looks like flat water itself. Many years ago a friend of mine called Pieter made the likeness and from that day on a millpond has been “bin bags”. It’s great to have you along mike
Fastnet Rock & flat calm. Good entry for your logbook. Are you doing Tuskar Rock on the way back? I remember the ‘Jester’ lads settling off from Pwllheli, a brave bunch, solo & yacht under 30ft. Good luck to your Bro!
Now while there may be a little of that our trip was planned many months ago. It did make me smile 😊 that we did it first I must agree but that’s just cos our dates to sail are set in stone. Cheer mike
I think Barbary pirates raideď Baltimore in 1631 taking most of the inhabitants as slaves to North Africa .I'm mot sure but I think a Dutch convert to Islam lead the raid
A dispossed dis grunted irish man led the pirates in to baltimore and specifically targeted families involved in his eviction . English authorities hunted him down for years afterwards he was eventually captured tried and executed. The coast of Ireland was a great place for pirates to resupply and get willing crew. The Royal navy press ganged fishermen here also .
There one half written but not about history or geography I just like that. yer videos are super Lisa needs the sun cream . As does my back . Thanks you two safe passage and fair winds.

That's a beautiful lighthouse.
It sure is, reminds me of Puffin at home 😁
Going to Fastnet Rock has got to be one of the highlights in any sailor's life!
😎
Fastnet and Tuskar in less than two weeks 😁
Thank you for talking us on another sail across the pond.
Always welcome mark 👍

So I guess the answer was very much so! Brilliant way to go about it 👍
Love being anchored in Baltimore, a beautiful natural harbour.
Batten down the hatches you may get a blow this week. Happy sailing mike
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing your trip!
Ye are welcome Gobin 👍

OMG Clare isn’t the area just riddled with fascinating history! Thanks for the history, well appreciated mike
Nice to see Lisa up and about. A nice relaxing video.
Hi Joe relaxing to make as well, flat seas have their benefits. All the best mike

Hi John, TBH wouldn’t fancy the Fastnet in a F8, sort of glad it was calm but think a F3-4 would of been nicer. Thought there was no castle left? Mike

Hi Mark, they set off on the 18th, weather looking good for them. My brother said most of the boats are over 30ft. Regards mike👍
What boat is your brother sailing, as I am entered in the Jester as well and could look out for him Chris.
Hi Chris he is sailing his Albin Vega 27 called Tarka. His name is Jim. Say hello when you see him and have a great sail. Mike
Wow! I’ve got an Albin Vega too!! She’s called “Saoirse” and lives just north of Copenhagen. Best of luck to your brother ⛵️⛵️⛵️
Are you going all the way round?
No Jj that’s as far as I have time for ☹️
Sail round St Kilda next then?!
Hi Pete, not on this trip lol mike
Is Lisa smiling?
Always inside 😂
you just had do it before your brother what spoiler you are, getting one up on him stealing his bragging rights .😂😂😂😂😂

Hi John did read something similar in the castle I’m sure but it seems to have slipped back out me head 🤪 so thanks for the refresher 👍
