As a beginner with little to no experience, I really appreciate the 'camera on the head' perspective augmented by explaining the maneuvers. Would be nice, if you kept doing this from time to time in the future.
As it conquers two birds with one stone you will probably see more of it. The only downside being the speed I move my head may get you dizzy and I could hear myself drink my tea ☕️ 🤣
As another beginner (still working on my old heap to make it seaworthy) I also appreciate the lessons and local knowledge. Menai will be my nearest mooring and sailing grounds. Looking forward to seeing Swallow for real, one day!
I always love watching you and Swallow (and Lisa), never miss any but I can't understand why you've so few subscribers. You're such a great sailor, obviously very knowledgeable about sailing and you have a great knack of explaining stuff to us armchair sailors. I don't get it, but please, don't stop doing all these as they're always great to watch. I live up the coast and on a clear day we can see the mountains and if we're lucky just about see The Great Orme, and I wonder if you're out and about on the water. Keep up the cracking work Mike. 👍
Hi Gav, thanks for the kind words and I’m sure if more people thought like you then I would have more subscribers. I would certainly be driven to make more than I do. Just means not all get me I suppose and that’s life. I will continue just for you and people just like ye. All the best mike
Great start to the season I have been watching your posts for at 3 years now You have compassion and I like your philosophy It’s great that you love your swallow and I like the way you deal with sailing Great videos Thank you
Hi Demetris, I’ve been making the in the hope that you’ve been enjoying them and now I know you have it makes it all worth while. Thanks for the kind comments have a great year mike ⛵️
Love your boat and the time you take sharing. The camera on the head is great except when you look around quickly. 😊 I missed your videos during the off season. Welcome back!
I know I know I forget it’s up there and get on with what I’m doing. If I use it on me head a bit more I may get better with it, with a bit of luck 🍀 Thank for the kind words 👍mike
Hi Bruce, it’s been a bit of a gap between being in the water I’ll tell ye. Think I was actually apprehensive getting launched. Soon fell back into it and now chomping at the bit. Nice to hear from you mike
Tell you what.....great boat you got there..mike....love her lines....the wheelhouse and cabin are just great...so inviting....my perfect boat for sure...👍👍.like you say the menai is beautiful...stayed overnight in a bay in front of that church one night....will stay with me for ever...what a night it was....used to scrub bottom of boat at ffenhelli in front of pub...and antifoul in one tide.....in-between pints..🤣🤣
Great to see Swallow sailing again. I always enjoy your videos and wish you well for this season. As a long keel owner myself, I think that you did really well going astern in Victoria Dock. Well done.
Always great to get back in the water, especially good if you can get in a manageable sail! You also have very good bedside manners Mike 😊😊 I look forward yo your further adventures.
Hi Peter, was very glad to be back in the water and very lucky to get a small sail in the next day. Weather is just poor here now with no signs of letting me out for a shake down sail. Fingers crossed 🤞 it breaks soon mike
Looked like you were getting ready to go out on Sunday, I floated past on my kayak. Gorgeous clear skies and then the mist came in. Couldnt see a bloody thing. Was loads of boats launching at Beacons it was chaos,
On land it was a fantastic day but that mist hung around for days. It was cooler in it as well. No went ashore and enjoyed the fine weather. Happy paddling mike
Great to see you out there, never thought you would take a tow anyway being the die hard type! I just wanted a tow from you in the bag for a rainy day 🤣 No seriously have a great season matey 👍
Really glad to see you looking forward to another season's sailing. Thanks for sharing. ⛵🌞Not sure Swallow looks as nice with the fenders up on the bow, to my eye it detracts from her purposeful and balanced lines. Practicality, it is definitely not seaman like, that's for sure. Are we to assume it was filmed on the 1st April??
I actually agree about the fenders, just didn’t want to correct my friend over something so small. I did however see another plus point of the being up forward. Every now and then a boat hits Swallow in the river. I normally tie two large balls up front for the very reason. I never had the balls with me so the fenders became my protection. If you see what I mean.
I've not seen any of your clips for quite awhile and I've realized being subbed doesn't automatically mean you'll be notified. Anyway here we are watching my favourite small pilot house sail boat, she is a gorgeous sail boat and if I was cashed up she'd be the one for me
Well played coming out, I was stuck in that far corner facing the wrong way when a big power boat came in and moored on the first pontoon I had just enough room to reverse out. Fortunately I don’t have a long keel but wasn’t easy with a lifting keel either. Lot of boats on the water. Just shows what a fraction of good weather will bring.
Good weather brings every man and his dog out! No fun being stuck in a corner with the wind pinning you in there lol 😂. I know just how vague it can feel with your keel us as well, been there and got the t shirt 👕. Have a good one mike
Swallow is back in the sea, sailing and loving it Captain is swallowing some hot tea, then together they hear the song of the water see the shapes the tides bring smell the weather they are all together, and we can enjoy that, many thanks✌️
Thank you mike, have you thought of giving lessons, refresher course,or day skipper,i like the way you put things across, your knowledge of sailing, also the area is amazing, one to think about,
Well what a first sail well done Mike!! by the way did you realise when you were going astern in the harbour you reserved up to “sailing melody !” A you tuber. !! Give him a shout they’re suppose to be going on a long sail but to be honest I haven’t kept up with their channel so will have a look. Thanks for the note by the way - God speed Malc uk 🇬🇧
I’m too busy chatting to take note of who’s around me. Everything is just a hazard until it’s a boat if you get my drift. I’ll check them out! Best wishes mike
Caernarfon was a lovely marina. Our first time there last summer ( John was there with the Irish naval reserve when in 20s). Caernarfon to Dublin was our last sail of the season in July. Weather became horrible after that.
@@sailingcosiloveit In fairness we had been sailing more last season than usual since moving from Malahide to Dun Laoighaire end of March. The tidal estuary at malahide was very restrictive. Love being in a 24hr access port now.
@@sailingcosiloveit Hi Mike and Lisa...tell you brother from us good choice he can't go wrong with it!.... me and Grace absolutely love our Halmatics..We're bringing them to the Pirate Festival (if we can sort moorings) so we are going to rewatch your videos about the o-so tricky approach to Conwy ... Bon Voyage ..cheers Richard
i think Jon was having a laugh with you he knew you always tie fenders to pushpit , was winding you up he even took a photo of his handiwork caper 😂😂😂 , singlehanded i think i,d want half of them at hand near the cockpit then you grab them quick style,,
Ye don’t worry they will return home soon. At hand is much better, especially in poor conditions. If John was having a laugh then power too him as it is quite funny 😆

Good to see you back and yes, Swallow looks pristine.
Thanks it’s good to be back! Guess all my hard work paid off then. Wonder how long she will stay clean for?
That is a spectacular new development: fenders on the bow LOL!
🤣

Hi Paul, what’s your boat called?
So good to see you back!
Swinging mooring this year?
Moved here two seasons ago 😁
My brother has sold his Vega and purchased Halmatic called Makeatea

Skipper 17 I think 🤔
What make of yacht do you have?
Scanyacht 290, Swallow is number four. 👍

🤣
Welcome home to Conwy

Sorry Mike, I did give you a wave. The vhf channel was busy with nigel lol
No worries mate, nice to see you out. Will have to cruise together soon so we can have a pint 🍻 or two 😁
