Sue their pay back to states the represent therefore making the people they represents choice if they get a raise and their staffs as well. If our military can live dorm style when away from their homes so can our representatives. Dinners should be served mess style same as our military when deployed. These 2 things would save taxpayers their per dime. Before anyone complains if it’s good enough for our military who representatives send to war then it should be good enough for them when in Washington. And it sure doesn’t bother them to use VA hospitals so it shouldn’t bother them to live the deployed soldiers lifestyle. Good enough for US it should be good enough for them.

The government had plenty of money for asylum seekers and others but those of us who worked and paid into S.S. are barely surviving and even when we get a 1 % raise, the government finds a way to take away something. Every government official should try living on $1200.00 a month, without having to go to food banks or try applying for food stamps or help with electricity bills, guidelines for income seem to make sure we "make too much " to get any help.

They keep wanting me to get this procedure and that test and I'm wondering why, if it isn't medically necessary, are you pushing this stuff!

What do you mean social security is not all that? If you mean SS is not all that big a deal then I beg to differ. I'd bet the number of people surviving on social security alone runs into the tens of millions. Could you live on $1,200 a month? Could you pay over 50 to 75% of your income on your housing costs? Now Congress is talking about cutting Medicare benefits as well. Stop taking from the poor, working and middle classes and giving to the already obscenely wealthy. Oh, wait. We just put the obscenely wealthy in charge of our entire lives. And for a start, Elon Musk just vetoed the budget bill, likely triggering a government shutdown, which means social security checks could be delayed. Does Elon want to finance that loss of income for millions of seniors?.

They’ve been talking about this for the last two plus decades but not doing anything about it so maybe it isn’t as bad as they say it is. I understand SS was never late or skipped payments so that’s encouraging right there. Looking for more money then remove the cap or change early retirement from 62 to 63. That should help.

And because these "gravy train" jobs don't pay enough, we break our backs working another job in which we pay social security taxes, which won't even be counted toward the SS benefits, unless one has "substantial earnings" for the year, and then we have to work 30 years in that part time with substantial earnings (not some low wage job like working at a restaurant or supermarket - so another burdensome restriction that you have to earn substantial $$$ earnings to be eligible for SS benefits - to get the full benefits like the private sector. Few if any achieve that. The private sector has no rigorous substantial earnings and the earnings required for private sector quarter credit are much lower. And before people complain there is something wrong with the welfare system when we have 1 family name and 3 different generations of that family all in same low income housing but in 3 separate apartments. We need to train a workforce that lives in and maintains low income housing. Elderly need their own facilities which maintenance would be done under supervision by those living in younger aged facilities. Under these same guidelines we offer vo-tech training for all maintenance jobs including all building and lawn maintenance. Child care on sight which requires either paycheck stub or volunteer hours in the low income housing community. Again all will be supervised and vo tech training through this program. Social security is paid into specifically for our elders future before we ever start talking about cuts. Those that did pay in to SS should have fair access to it. However, this rushed bill allows those that paid to received a much higher rate of SS payment, because the SS payout formula will assume they were in poverty ( formula doesn't take into consideration their pensions and pays at the higher poverty rate). This is totally unfair to those that did not have a public service pension and paid into SS fund their whole life.

The new unfairness this rushed Bill creates is an unfairness to those worked and paid into SS their whole life without a public service pension. Under this bill, you will receive a higher percent of what you paid in to SS because it assumes your SS Job was your only source of income and is biased to pay out more for lower contributions and those that it think are near poverty. The average worker that worked their whole life at job and paid into SS will receive less percentage of what they paid in since they contributed over a longer period and likely not near the flawed payout formula poverty calculation bias. I know it sounds crazy, but we did pay into SS and fulfilled all requirements. However when we go to collect earned benefits from SS we find out it has been reduced by 2/3. Wrap your head around that. We are not asking for one penny we have not earned.

Those that are against this bill should lose their seat/election. Maybe public servants should form an organisation to fight these politicians.

Dear Congress, this is a problem that you and your predecessors created. Own it! But given your past track record most of us are NOT hopeful for overhauling the Social Security on your watch.

I’m supposed to get $1200 but instead after TAXES (yes it’s taxed) and after I have to pay for Medicare, because of this situation my check is $406. They KEEP half of the money I PAID INTO IT. So pass the BILL AND THEN….fix it. But done punish us for the stupidity done 40 years ago AND be happy we don’t go after back pay!!
