Everyone in the organization contributed to missing the playoffs. The main problem is the ownership group cutting Dipoto’s budget. Next, Dipoto’s inability to consistently find position players who would fit with the M’s. Third, analytics team stubbornly pushed a hard line hard numbers strategy in daily lineup decisions. The hitting coaches (DeHart and Brown) couldn’t develop a hitting approach for the batters for 5 months of the season. The players (Polanco and Garver) couldn’t play to their stats behind their baseball cards. Core players (Julio and JP) couldn’t consistently hit. The middle inning bullpen started to lose steam.
Definitely agree the mariners really just need their current guys to improve. Julio Rodriguez having a better season next season is an addition. Randy Arozerena and Victor Robles in a full season with the mariners hopefully will be good. Luke Raley looks like he can hit 70-80ribi. Rojas is a hole offensively.
The Ms won’t be a serious contender until they get a legit bat in the middle of the line up. Not some bargain bin bat but a true #4 hitter who can drive runs in.
every team has games they lost that they should have won. Just trying to squeeze out the final wild card playoff spot should NOT be your goal or considered good enough with the opportunity you have right now. The window to win a division and more is open right now. Stop trying to finagle a way into the wild card ......go out and take some of your profits from 2022 and 2023 and invest it in your team and win a damn division. This mentality of 'just squeeze in and let's see what happens' has to end. Try and put together the best team in the league before the season starts. Stop just trying to be good. TRY TO BE GREAT!!!!!!
Let's just accept it...Turner is coming back and Raley and Turner will platoon at 1B. Those two, with Garver and maybe Locklear will make up the 1B/DH platoon.
Talk is cheap Jerry. We’re tired of platoon signings. You and your sidekick Justin need to catch a big fish this Winter. Soto would be the prize but this has to be a now or never winter acquisition. I’ve grown three gray hairs this Season and I’m too young to have gray hair Jerry. Something needs to change this offseason or there will be more gray haired dudes in their early 30s pleading for help. 👨🏽🦳
We know they own ROOT. There's nothing guaranteeing ROOT exists next year. Nearly every other property has left the channel, and there isn't a boom of cable subs
Munoz blew the last game in Detroit. Garcia didn’t serve up that meatball to literally the worse hitter in baseball, threw a meatball to Carpenter the night before lol😒 🤦♂️ Scott managed that game in a panic bringing in Munoz to face Baez like if Javy was 2016 Javy. It was 2 outs runner on 1st.
I wish everyone would stop doing this! It is not apples to apples. Just because they hit with the Dodgers (in a loaded lineup) or with the Diamondbacks (a good hitters park) doesn't mean they would hit here. Moving on from Suarez was the right move. He was beloved in Seattle but his production was declining, and he was one of the worst hitters in baseball until like August 1.
it has NOTHING to do with choking. This teams failures are clearly the lack of ownership freeing up some of the profits to spend enough on offense to truly have a complete team.
Some of the teams with lower payrolls then the M's: Twins, Brewers, Royals, Tigers, Guardians, Orioles and Rays. So please stop excusing dipo for not making the playoffs because the M's only have a middle of the league payroll.

Idk what your smoking but they missed the division by 9 games in 2016 and 3 games back in the WC 😂 2018 missed WC by 8 games and division by 14 games 😂 2021 missed division by 5 games and WC by 2 games Last 2 years have been frustrating cuz there is no reason they should’ve missed the playoffs. 😞 They have wasted 2 years of elite starting pitching. I have no faith they correct and make it back to the postseason PS if your looking at standings from pre 6 team per league playoffs that “3rd” WC didn’t make the playoffs from 2014-2021 lol
@@ricardorincon2083 I stand corrected with the division, but the ESPN website needs to fix the WC standings because they started using the pre 3rd WC starting in 2016.
@@ricardorincon2083 It’s embarrassing to make these mistakes on division leads. As far as the WC figures, ESPN website started their pre-3rd WC starting in 2016 year. ESPN needs to correct this as it is a major sports website, but someone should tell to fix it. I tried the Contact Us on their website. It just is a rabbit hole.
Dipoto is too stubborn adhering to analytics for the batters for so long. Jarrett DeHart was the M’s Director of Strategy for nearly 3 seasons. He was never a professional baseball player. He was hired out of college by Dipoto. DeHart doesn’t have the cachet that Edgar has. DeHart just played college ball. This goes back to A-Rod interview with Mike Salk where putting the ball in play matters, moving the runners 90 feet and situational awareness with 2 strike count. A-Rod might be right that there will be a point where scoring runs and RBI stats matter most over analytics.
Mariner fans will probably fall to dipotos word as gospel and then experience disappointment all over again in 2025 😂 it’s the mariners way. He should have been fired the same day the manager was let go.

Agreed 💯- well said!
Tmobile is the worst hitters park because every game there features one of the worst offenses of all time vs a team facing historical pitching
Sure, but that doesn't explain the stark difference in results for the M's pitching staff on the road

I got to say one of the biggest disappointments this year was when they didn't go out and get somebody when they had the 10-game lead
No one is available in mid-June
They should've spent last winter when it was a better FA market.

We know they own ROOT. There's nothing guaranteeing ROOT exists next year. Nearly every other property has left the channel, and there isn't a boom of cable subs
they will trade a few prospects for a couple bats
John Stanton doesn’t care if the Mariners win the World Series.
You leverage the 7th and 8th innings by keeping your starters in the games. It worked for 100 years. It's not rocket science.
Thank you guys for a good season. Hopefully next year we can get some post game post season reactions. Tridents up!
Thanks for watching!

I am done with the Jerry Dipoto era....Eugenio, Teoscar and Carlos would have us in the world series this year....
No, they wouldn't. These are fair weather players.
