- Steel Venom is an Impulse rollercoaster that was built at Valleyfair in 2003 by Intamin Amusement Rides building innovative coasters around the world like Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts at Universal Studios Florida and many more.
Steel Venoms train runs along a 656-foot U-shaped track, incorporating two 185-foot vertical spikes while holding 28 passengers. The forward spike features a twisted spiral while the backward spike provides a straight freefall. Once the ride begins, riders are accelerated in less than 3 seconds to 65 mph toward the forward tower before dropping back down through the station house and up the back tower.
Steel Venom is one of six impulse coasters around the world that is still operational. These include coasters from the United States, Taiwan, and China. Out of all six impulse coasters Steel Venom is the ONLY impulse coaster in the world that still has an operational holding brake at the top of one of the spikes making it one of the most fun coasters at Valleyfair.

OH I GO THERE IN A FEW DAYS SUPER EXCITED
ONLY operational holding break. Shots fired!!
Wow I didn’t know it was one of 6 In the world that’s really cool-
But the only one with a holding brake
When I first clicked on this I thought steel venom was losing its holding brake
The steel venom sticker on my water bottle is awesome and one of my fav rides in my home oark
there used to be a scream sound effect when it would brake at the top but after riding today I can confirm they removed it.
I was super impressed by how well maintained this great ride is when I visited this summer
