Agreed, it was my first James Bond film and I loved every second of it. What’s particularly great, is that the villains scheme (to my mind at least) is a genuinely good idea, and not just the crazed fantasy of a lunatic hellbent on world domination. Not that I don’t enjoy those kinds of villains as well of course!
@@alwaysOPEN4business Roger Moore films are not considered to be great Bond films but there are quite a few classic scenes in many of them. This was a fantastic starter for Roger for sure
Kananga is underrated as a Bond bad guy. He was a master at deception: he led everyone on that he was championing the rights of his people at the United Nations, but was really a complete psychopath who funneled in heroin to the US through his restaurants.
yes, I've even read professional movie critics put this up among the Top 5 anyway it's way,way better than Diamonds are forever, and I can't believe some people would prefer to have Connery in Live and let die after his bad performance in Diamonds are forever the opening song is really the best and even got an Oscar nomination
You Only Live Twice should've gotten best song and score. Can't believe Adelle received one. As for DAF ... Connery didn't shave his eyebrows, was terribly paunchy. It works as a comedy. But LALD is both funny and action packed. Bond is in actual danger sometimes (about to get his finger sliced off, jumping on crocodiles, etc.). Loved Geroge Martin's music. He should've done more Bonds.
@ AlexDeLarge90. I agree that Connery would not have been preferable to Moore to play Bond in "Live and Let Die" considering the facts that Connery was bored with playing Bond as early as "YOLT" and that he was grossly out of shape physically in "DAF". But if Connery had gotten into excellent physical condition to play Bond in "LALD" and had been motivated to give a strong performance as Bond, then he would have been preferable to Moore to appear as Bond in "LALD".
Yeah, she was only 20 when she filmed this, and married already. And then she married three other guys! One wonders who would divorce her? Goes to show that beauty sometimes attracts a guy who looks just at the outside. Enzo Ferrari said, "When a man says he loves a woman, it means he's in lust with her."
The elevator operator gets his first assignment: Villian's HR Trainer: "No, there's nothing to it - you just stand here and bring people down when you hear a knocking on the headstone. Don't worry, it's totally safe." 007: "How 'bout a nice boot to the face?" Also, there's no way that the container at 3:45 is watertight with doors that flop around like that...
A Bond villian must possess three qualities: 1. He or she must be a psychopath; 2. Must have the best of manners; 3. Be smart enough to think it's a good idea to reveal the whole story, and stupid enough to not know that he or she is going to lose.

Live and let die is one of the most underrated Bond films along with The Living Daylights. Any Pierce Brosnan one is overrated. Seriously Casino Royale with Daniel Craig and the re-boot of the series should have been done after Timothy Dalton retired.
The only bad Bond film that Pierce did was Die Another Day (which I would only give 2 out of 5 stars) while I would give the other three at least 4 stars (5 for Goldeneye and The World Is Not Enough and 4 for Tomorrow Never Dies).
Among the Roger Moore Bond films, I would give Live and Let Die 4 out of 5 stars, and The Man With the Golden Gun would get 3 stars, The Spy Who Loved Me would get 4 stars, Moonraker would get 4 stars, For Your Eyes Only would get 5, Octopussy would get 4, and A View... would get 3.

I believe it is foolish to let bond always win. I wish the producer leaves a room for the viewers to judge the scenes instead of uses his dictatorship to the end. Thank you.
