Mr. Skinner is by far the most accurate and well versed narrator of the history of the wild west period. Also his linguistics are relevent to this timeframe.Great job ,always a pleasure to watch his videos.
Jerry, you have the most wonderful stories about people , places & events. Love the way you tell it.You also have the best voice for telling a story. Thank you for sharing all these things with us all.Stay strong
Thanks for posting Jerry, my Grandmother, Margorie Short was a relative to Luke Short(a niece i think). who resided in Ontario Canada. I found this out from my uncle who did a family tree search several decades ago, and who has since passed now. It's interesting to know that one of your passed relatives was a gun fighter from the 1800s, I never thought I would ever see a picture of his head stone, and resting place. Thanks so much again for sharing.
Thank you Steve. There is nothing like a graveyard to bring us back to reality, I once thought we were placed on this earth to learn to be tolerate of each other, but now know that even Christ was not very tolerate of the religious leaders of his day. However, He did teach us to be forgiving, especially towards the sinner. Which religions seem to have a problem doing. Thank you again Steve. Jerry
@Jerry...No, Thank you sir...your videos are pure homespun magic (beyond obviously being very well researched)...if you don't mind sharing a little about yourself I'm sure many of us here would like to hear "your story". Every time I watch one of your videos I think man that guy must have a very interesting story himself....anyway thank you for all the videos and you contribution to Americana.
Thanks for posting Jerry. I grew up in Fort Worth, and always thought Courtright was city Marshall when he confronted Short for disturbing the peace (drunk and disorderly) on the North side of town. One thing led to another, and a gunfight broke out. I heard a lot of this from my Daddy, who was a kid at this time. He told me about a lynching at the old Ellis pecan warehouse, by the railroad tracks, on North Main in 1917. Klan activity.Tell us some more.
You mention the acquittal of L.L. Short. There was absolutely law in the old west, and men didn't just blast some poor jamoke and walk about like nothing happened. There were arrests, grand jury indictments, and miles of subpoenas, writs, motions, postponements and the like. Wyatt Earp spent way more time in law offices and courtrooms than scrapping with lawbreakers and drunks. He was always in lawsuits defending his policing methods, giving sworn testimony, as well as also being a defendant in cases for things he did when he wasn't wearing the badge. There was a fine judicial system then and men were held accountable for their behavior.
Jerry, Have watched some of your videos, and trying to be helpful put this comment up. 1. In San Diego the town of La Jolla is pronounced La Hoya. This is a Spanish name. I can also say that back in grade school that I flunked Spanish. 2. It might be nice to do one on Kirby Grant from Saturday morning Television shows "Sky King". You certainly have a talent on making these videos.

You'll have to come to Ft. Worth sometime! There are lots of us still here
Haha We Meet Again.
What an object lesson. The prideful and the meek all end up in the cemetery...
Thanks for this interesting video
Thank you again for sharing this history with us!
The comment about resting with both friends and enimies when we are laid to rest just about says it all...
Your last sentence were very poignant words indeed, Jerry....words to live by....Thank You

+B Watkins Thank you B. I always watched "Sky King" so thank you for the suggestion. Of course you are right about La Hoya. Thank you again. Jerry
Wow!! This was so cool. Great stuff
excellent !!!
It was the White Elephant Saloon, not the White Irish
The White Elephant, not Iris.
+boc234 Thank you and yes you are right. I had Buford Pusser and the White Iris on my mind. Thank you. Jerry
There’s no audio on the right channel!
Great job
🤣we'll all end up in some grave yard with our friends and enemies.
I understood it that Morgan Earl was murdered at the Oriental Palace and that Virgil was seriously wounded on the streets of Tombstone!
Morgan was shot at the Campbell and Hatch Saloon while playing pool.
The hammer thumb
Yep, no one gets out alive!
Rest In Peace Jim.
I admit i might be thinking of someone else but wasn't Short actually an Englishman?
Actually the keychain thing was never proven and has been called a "feeble excuse"
Great history.
Luke Short`s wife Hettie was exceptionally good looking(judging by the two photos that exist of her)!
+Brian Wells Good for Luke "right". Thank you Brian. Jerry
