  • We talk about those who may not ever hear the gospel of the free grace of God. Are they without hope? Is God so dependent on us that he has no other way to reach them? Scripture teaches that God is never without a witness. This is a foundational part of Paul's argument in the Book of Romans.
We continue also chat about the point of the the Law (Ten Commandments, etc.) and how we can (must) apply rightly dividing the Word of Truth (2 Tim 2:15) to all of our Bible Study. We touch in the parable of the Sheep and Goats again in Matthew 25.
Finally, I explain why I'm opposed to the Kansas proposal of putting a chaplain in every school. Talk about putting a fox in the henhouse!
The demise of the West is not because we took the Bible out of the schools, we took the Bible out of the schools because of the demise of the West... and professed Christendom's dependence on tradition over God's truth made that all possible.

17:17 - The promises are of blessing and curse. The promises cannot be broken. Jesus says so. Therefore at every point in scripture where God says "IF"... it is an opportunity test your faith and to see how much grace you can give to God.

As just one example, " if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’" is not a generic if/promise statement for all people of all ages. We cannot claim this today. The verse ends, "These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." We must rightly divide this promise.
Similarly, the threats of particular punishments ("if you obey not") found in the Law and the prophets cannot be applied in this age. Clearly, many who obey the voice of the Lord do not prosper, and many who worship idols and money and live wickedly profit greatly today.
      Thanks for your thoughts.

@@MichaelScotto - ahhh, but that is where perseverance comes into play, praying as if you have received it and so on. Much of the text is symbolic and sadly people take things too literally. Err on the simple - love each other and let God be the judge. Thanks for the reply.
