No mistaking who the announcer is for sure. Johnny Olsen's voice is quite distinctive.

Betty asked, “How many times do you roll the ball in a perfect game?”. All three gave an incorrect response. The correct answer is 12. You’ll roll two bonus balls in the 10th frame giving a total of 12 rolls in a perfect “300” game.

I was surprised when all 3 got that one wrong. It was sure easy to rule out the one who answered "30"!

ONLY the bowling round brought out the usual enjoyable light-hearted entertainment I’ve come to expect from the show. The first contestants were hardly alive, and the last subject was too disturbing to be enjoyable, but as usual Betty White was just WONDERFUL!

I looked up the Pulitzer story...a mother, teenage daughter and a male friend traveling through Utah were ambushed. The mother and friend were shot--he survived, she didn't. Then the assailant kidnapped the daughter. He took his own life two days later, and the girl's body was never found.

Last round seemed bizarre to me; a recent failed invasion with loss of life and deleterious political consequences seems odd subject matter for a game show.

Perhaps because it was a significant moment in American, and Cuban, history and an event that occurred only the year before this episode was recorded.

The men in the final game get my vote for being the best looking group of men playing in the same game in the entire history of the show.

re: the bowler... If I heard correctly, none of them got the right answer to how many balls one throws to bowl a 300 game. The correct answer is 12. I think #2 said 10, #3 said 30, and #1 agreed with #2.

Out of the 30 some odd episodes of TTTT that I’ve watched, group #1 gets the prize for the worst contestants, including the Pulitzer Prize winner, himself. The most unanswered, barely answered, unimaginative answers I’ve seen. All with the personality and charisma of a wet dishrag. If this was their strategy to win the money, it really backfired on them.

    • @loissimmons6558

There are also some bowlers who straddle the ball with their thumb instead of using the thumb hole.

Johnny could not wait till the show ended to get out his cigarette, It was the smoking that was instrumental in his death. He also smoked on his show. And a funny episode on The Tonight Show was when Don Rickels accidentally broke his cigarette case. He sort of went ballistic when Don did this.

12:20 "How many times do you have to throw the ball to bowl 300. 3 said 30, so obviously has never bowled before. But the others said 10. Have the rules changed? Because you need 12 strikes for a 300 score at least going back to when I started bowling in the '70s.
