Not necessarily. Don't always assume the worst case scenario. People don't really intentionally steal dogs all that often (mostly bc it's pretty easy to get a dog legitimately, so not worth the legal repercussions). It very well could be that someone found her along the highway or something and thought she was abandoned so adopted her. Then moved. The maybe she ran away again and got take to the shelter.
@@jennifermarie3158 you people lack critical thinking skills, no dog will make it across state lines alone. That is just delusional. Don't always assume the best case scenario, people aren't good.
This is why microchipping your dog is so important. A dog tag on a collar is great and all but collars fall off and get lost. A microchip is a bulletproof way for you to be reunited with your pet.
@@MrsDhanyaPremAirTags are nearly useless. They don’t give live updates, which means an Apple device has to happen to pass nearby enough. Even in a city, you’re lucky if it updates every 5 mins at minimum . . . and even in NYC, I sometimes don’t get an update for up to an hour. By the time the tag is updated with location info, the dog is long gone from that spot. A GPS collar is a much safer bet as long as you keep it charged and nobody has removed it. You’ll get a LIVE location up to 10-30 ft away from the collar, depending on the brand (the brand I have is ten feet). As soon as you notice the dog is missing, you’ll have a precise, LIVE location that moves with the dog by opening your cellphone. It gives you enough time to either go to the location yourself if you think the dog wandered away or call 911 to provide a location if you suspect someone took the dog. You’ll probably have the dog back within minutes from the time you open the app on your phone. You sadly won’t get the with an Apple tracker or any tracker that doesn’t require cellular service to work because the dog will have already wandered away before you catch up to the spot where it pinged since dogs don’t stay in the same spot like a set of keys you might have dropped on the ground. I personally am very happy with the Fi Collar in the last few years. I’ve owned several GPS collars for my service dog over the years, and this is the most accurate I’ve had. The battery also lasts a long time before needing to be recharged, and it doesn’t take long to charge it up. It’s also completely waterproof for rain and swimming. A microchip is still very important, though. Should a tracking device get removed or the battery dies, it still gives you a chance that someone might scan that chip if the dog got found somewhere.
My ex owned a motel. One morning he noticed his chihuahua dog was gone. A family had left that morning and their girl, who showed she really liked his dog, mentioned where they were headed. So my ex jumped in his car, got onto the freeway, located them, chased them, and forced their car over onto the side of the road, and forceably took his little dog out of their car. They were shaken he would pursue them and b aggressive with them, but he was angry and determined.
They were shaken? Screw them! Dog thieves. To be so narcissistic to be shaken when someone else is losing their beloved family member because of their selfishness. Too bad! Don’t take what isn’t yours! Our parents raised us with ‘if it isn’t yours, don’t touch it.
Don't let dogs run around loose. I realize that he thought she would stay around his repair shop, but there are bad people out there. Someone took her for sure and decided they didn't want her. It bugs me when people think it is ok to take someone's dog.
My mom was a serial rescue stealer. She was visiting my house once, left, and later that night a frantic neighbor was going door to door searching in tears for his dog. They were working out in his yard and we went into his back yard, dog in the front yard. My mom assumed it was a lost stray and called it into her car and took it home. Thinking what? I guess call around shelters for a lost dog? Idk. But I called her that night just to talk and she told me about the stray puppy she rescued off the side of the road on my street. So I asked. From my neighbors front yard? Her, but I was afraid someone dumped it there and it would get in the road and get hurt. Needless to say I drove across town to rescue the dog my mom rescue stole to return it to my neighbor. She did that a lot. I also had a patient who’s daughter found a dog and gave it to her so I asked if she checked a chip or asked around and she said absolutely not it’s my dog now… So I personally think vets should scan the chip every vet visit to confirm it’s still working and that it’s not a mistakenly rehomed missing pet.
