@@arturdankovsky8293 not really unfortunately. Bach’s horizon was not fettered by a want of travel. He was able to understand enough of the world through his learning. By collecting and reading musical scores. He must have possessed an extraordinary sense of integrity and purpose to produce all he did without the normal attachments of parents or praise. Much of this probably owes also to a genuine faith. True genius doesn’t often conform to anything we would expect.
19:30 How and why can such dramatic events of Bach’s life as his month long false imprisonment in Weimar, death of his first wife shortly after, harassment of life long witch hunt etc be cut out from biographical narrative ? What is the reason for these impactful on his music events to be of NO interest of his devotees, in order to have the true portrayal without distortion of what was most important for composer and his legacy?
That is the 'air' from the orchestral suite #3 in D. In other words, the second movement of BWV 1068. Hope you found it sooner, and if not then at least that you find it now :)
Just enjoy what you enjoy from this outdated documentary about the great JSB and skip what you do not enjoy ... Your appreciation of it will not change anything about the greatness of one of very few composers who was blessed with a nearly divine inspiration which was founded in his divine faith ...

When Mozart died, God himself greeted him and said, 'From you, Mr. Mozart, will come the conductor of the heavenly orchestra.' Mozart was surprised and asked, 'Isn't Mr. Bach already here? I think he should be the conductor.' God replied, 'I am Bach.'
15:08 - is this Bach? Please forgive me. May be I´m a fool and I just didn´t know. What "fucking" BWV is this? this is violin peace - just great! I know that Bach was also a great violin player - by a CD from Nigel Kennedy?
Why do so many players overwhelm the harpsichord in recordings?! Did you listen to the results? Terrible balance. Why would Bach write the keyboard parts if they were not to be part of the music. 😢Really awful.
Bach ..." a very local story "......um...in a sense ?......where really did he really need to go given all what is in evidence to contemplate . As in " The Power Of The Aether As Related To Music And Electricity " ( by Eric P. DOLLARD " E.G. )
This point which is repeated twice in this documentary is also completely false. Bach *walked* over 250 miles Arnstadt to Lübeck when he was 20 years old to learn from Dieterich Buxtehude -- staying there for three months.
This documentary contained factual errors as well as crappy modern renditions of Bach's music. Further it omitted all kinds of interesting facts that could have added a lot of colour. BTW, note to musicians featured in this doc near the end: don't mess with Bach's basslines... you are not the superior composer.
An interesting travelogue, but performances were just so-so. Is the announcer a legitimate Brit? or is he from central casting? Bach? Take him straight. No chaser.
Yes, Simon Callow is a well-known English actor. He was in the film '4 Weddings and a Funeral' (I think it was his funeral). But the accent is a product of some very horrible elocution lessons, I fear, as nobody really talks like that. He seems to be struggling with reading the autocue, which doesn't help. Probably too vain to wear reading glasses!
Bach is most definitely not the father of classical music. His works were largely forgotten after his death. He was not an innovative composer to any degree, instead perfecting the old forms of the suite, the cantata and counterpoint. It was left to his sons, and to Joseph Haydn, Beethoven, Wagner and Debussy to chart the course of music over the past 250 years.
Bach was the greatest composer the world has ever known. Praises be to him. I am glad to hear all these good things about him.
Bach was Bach no matter who he actually was. We cannot be too grateful for him and his music.
We must be ever grateful to God for giving us Bach the composer to aid in our worship & for our enjoyment.
These people must have spent most of their time creating statues and paintings. Thanks be to God! & to Simon Callow!
Bach is the red Power Ranger of classical music.
he´s still "the king of baroque music!"
@@odunhops7727 I'd go so far as the "King of Western Music."

@Wolfgang1782 ... how true are your words ...
Given Bach's vast output, why do we have to listen to the "Air on the G string", THREE times?
That is exactly what came also to my mind ... 😵💫
Because it's so Gooood! I'd be afraid to tell you how many times I've listened to some of the Brandenburg Concertos...

Where is the second part please ?
