A nice wrap-up of your dliberations on the new anchor. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the Bruce at all, and so I'm not surprised you opted to replace it. The Spade looks good; I've typically used Delta and Rocna, and if price wasn't an option, I'd probably go for an Ultra. Over-sizing the anchor and having plenty of 10mm chain is a good investment in peace-of-mind.
Thanks! Yes the Bruce isn't the greatest that's for sure. It excels in mud and that's about it. We got by with it, but are feeling much safer with the Spade and new chain!
