Hello do u respond I have a question
yes, how can I help?
@@iankearns7875 I need help with a problem that states that 7 people bought sandwiches and one had 6 off how much is the sandwiches all together? Is that a percent/ discount word problem? It does say off but no percent sign in the sentence
@@latonyahall2086 can you share the full description?
@@iankearns7875 if 7 Jose buys 8 sandwiches for his coworkers for $9.00 and has 6 off how much does the sandwiches cost ? Or how much does he pay?
@@latonyahall2086 Okay this is a rate or y=mx+b problem. Are you paraphrasing the question? It seems a little strange. Anyway, The rate or cost per sandwich (which is m) is what the question is asking for. So you would use $9 for the total which is y, in y=mx+b. so you have $9=m8-6. where m8 means m times 8. So now you have a two step equation to solve for m. First add 6 to both sides which leaves you with 15 on the left and just m8 on the right. Lastly divide both sides by 8 to get 15/8 which is $1.87 per sandwich. To check out the work, or to explain it differently. He bought 8 sandwiches at $1.87 per sandwich which would be ~$15. But he had a coupon for $6 off which means he only had to pay $9. Hope this helps.
