This film room study details Denver's unstoppable two-man game, all the defensive coverages Erik Spoelstra, Bam Adebayo and the Heart tried to slow them down, along with the Nuggets defensive improvements and adjustments from earlier in the series.

For example, I see people mad at Spo for going away from “what was working the last game,” not acknowledging that Denver already corrected for that “fix” and made it a weakness that he couldn’t afford to get further exploited. There’s a reason why Strus, Gabe, and Robinson etc. had great numbers and minutes for a game or two before their offense got neutralized and they became defensive liabilities.

Obviously cant just base on the playoffs, but how many top 25 nba players have done what Murray is doing in the playoffs? We questioned if Murrays run in the bubble was a fluke, and he is proving it wasn't. Even though Murray isnt a all star (yet) and can be inconsistent during the regular season, something has to be said for him rising to the biggest occcasions in the playoffs multiple times now. I just love your analysis! For me as an absolute layman everything just happens way too fast. So pointing out what the players are doing off the ball is extremely helpful. And here in Europe it's usually the 10-minute-summary the next morning we watch where it's mostly the successful offense that's shown, sometimes good defense and rarely misses where you could see why. Thanks!

    "Its easy! Just make Jokic score and you win! Hurr durr!" 😂
    People can be so ridiculous.
    First, who has the roster that can lock up the other four? No one. You honestly think no ones tried playing them straight up? Because thats what you're saying.
    Second, Jokic organically turned into a scorer those losses because he was intentionally trying to will his team back into the game. It wasnt some magical adjustment, its people who dont know ball looking at stat sheets instead of the game.
    Third, Nuggets are the picture of consistency in fact Id argue their two worst games were the first two of the finals and Heat barely managed to steal one by a single 3 pointer.
    Fourth, its got nothing to do with home or away. They are GREAT regardless. Their losses came away from because those happened to be the games Book and ANT had historic games and Heat shot a miraculous 50% from three as a team.

      The Nuggets already tell opponents to pick their poison in the playoffs. Sometimes it does work (see game 2 vs the Heat) but for the most part the Nuggets get past that and arrive at their win conditions like Jamal Murray on a scoring spree. Or when the Nuggets pick up their 3-ball shooting again (which is a scenario the Heat cannot afford to fight against). At the very least the Nuggets are making these mistakes and adjustment early in the series than in the middle/later part of the series and not showing they have an answer. Jokic and Murray as offensive forces are too persistent when it is still very clear the Heat don't have the bodies to match consistently and can only catch up in game with absurd shooting splits from 3 point land.

    I don’t think so. Teams need a lot of help in the sense of the others on Denver not playing well to stand a chance beating these two on nights they’re both on.
    Aaron Gordon pickup was huge for them in this era where teams are opting to play players that are more perimeter oriented instead of bigs. Miami right now really lacks the personnel needed to consistently negate that and that’s likely the case for most of the league in a 7 game series. Having to deal with those easy buckets on top of Murray cooking whoever is in front of him is ggs

    Outstanding analysis... few people ever give Denver enough credit for their D however that rookie is def going to change that narrative of the casuals... it just goes to show you that the BEST OFF production is sourced in excellent DEF... the 2nd chance points & rebounds don't just put points on the board in your favor each is a dbl whammy robbing the other team of its possessions & possible points at the same time... what we saw in game 3 is the TRUTH... Denver is the consensus #1 & miami is an #8 seed... I was illegally evicted from my home on Winona Ave in San Diego & have an Original Jurisdiction Case that is being obstructed at SCOTUS... so I was cheering on the Aztecs in the FF... it seems to me that miami is like SDSU in that they give 100% effort all the time & overachieve... just like in the FF tho at midnight it's time for cinderella to leave the party... the Blue Chippers at UConn were too smart talented big & high effort high character for SDSU to prevail... it seems to me the SAME fate has been crafted for miami... Denver is too smart, talented, big & at least in game 3 well Denver can play DEF & engage in a relentless high effort level of play in someone else's house too... problem is there is no cure for miami... they are simply outmatched & now Malone AND the Players have the Secret Formula for Miami's magic powers to victory cookbook... it's all over except for the crying... Sianara miami- you are NO MATCH for two players that make 30 triple dbls on the same floor on the same night!

    The thing is, they could be even better if Murray passed the ball sooner in the pick n roll. A lot of the time he misses a wide open Jokic for a floater or just dribbles around too much then hands Jokic the ball in traffic with 2 seconds left on the shot clock.

    • @GoZags43
      @GoZags43 Рік тому +8

      That’s one of those things where you have to trust a great player’s feel for the game/situation. Are there times where it looks like the pocket pass or throw back pass is there for an open Jokic, but Murray shoots it? Yeah of course, but I’d argue it’s sometimes better to go against tendencies or the “perfect” play to bring uncertainty into the defense’s mind. Usually when Murray “misses” Jokic it’s during a ridiculous shot making stretch from Jamaal, so he rarely misses Joker and puts up a bad shot himself. (There aren’t many bad Murray shots at this point. It’s getting in the neighborhood of Steph level shotmaking).
