Vespas, Lambrettas, Scooter boys & Mods out & about in various London locations. All photo's taken with permission of the scooters (& sometimes the riders).
OMG remember the Mod's and Rockers, big confrontations st Brightion, been, there, still got "T" shirt lol... happy days to all that remember great times :)
There use too be a old Lambretta in the back yard when i was a boy, it was leaning up against the fence for years and on the back wheel covers was a Map of Australia!, HAHAHA , hell of a long slow trip it must of been on a 62? Lambretta! Hell wish i had it now!
On this day in 1963 {December 8th} "Louie Louie" by the Kingsmen peaked at #2 {for 6 non-consecutive weeks} on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; it had entered the chart on November 9th, 1963 and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100... The first two weeks it was #2 "Dominique" by the Singing Nun was #1 and then "There, I've Said It Again" by Bobby Vinton kept it out of the top spot for four weeks... It re-entered the Top 100 again three years later in 1966 for a two week stay, peaking at #97... John Belushi covered it in 1978; his version reached #89 and was on the Top 100 for 4 weeks...
Aaah the memories, spotted Enfield on a sign, I come from Southgate, we had a lot of Lambrettas, Vespas and Bubblecars in late 50's early 60's. Great times. But the ones with the big windscreen were deadly in a strong wind )).
Jack Ely, lead singer of the Kingsmen's "Louie Louie," dies at 71. www.theguardian.com/music/2015/apr/29/jack-ely-singer-known-for-louie-louie-dies-aged-71 R.I.P. Jack.
Louie Louie, oh no Me gotta go Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go Fine little girl waits for me Catch a ship across the sea Sail that ship about, all alone Never know if I make it home Louie Louie, oh no Me gotta go Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go Three nights and days I sail the sea Think of girl, constantly On that ship, I dream she's there I smell the rose in her hair. Louie Louie, oh no Me gotta go Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go Okay, let's give it to 'em, right now! See Jamaica, the moon above It won't be long, me see me love Take her in my arms again Tell her I'll never leave again Louie Louie, oh no Me gotta go Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go Let's take it on outta here now Let's go!
it was a shame when we had to wear helmets but i can see there point as i had a Raleigh moped as at the age of sweet 16 when i almost lost my life but now i have 2 vespa's i have a full licence & i used to teach people how to ride up to test standard i have been on a few rallies its a great seen long live us mods
@ambertjeblue A classic Mod anthem. My mum and dad were mods from Whetstone/Finchley early 60's. Me still carrying the scooter torch, a scooterist for life. There is a club from Enfield called the Enfield Rifles which is still going strong. Scooters, a way of life.
Perfect dancing song. I tried desperately to discover the words, but never could! I HAD to know the words as I was dancing across that floor. It's rubbish, but it's a classic from late 1964/early 1965, I think! Anyone know for certain, please let me know.
Here's a question: How would I have fitted in during the sixties? I love the Mod culture, the music, and the clobber... but hell I'm not a scooter man... I love fast bikes so I'd have had to own a big Norton or Triumph cafe racer. I'd have looked a bit silly on it in my parker though ;)
Gotta laugh my ass off thinking about how the FBI scrutinized this song in their famous crime lab for "bad language". Running it backwards, forwards, slow speed, high speed, etc. and at the end they determined it to be "indecipherable at any speed". *AND THEN TOTALLY MISSING THE DRUMMER SAYING "FUCK!" at **0:56** when he missed a beat!!*
they need pixel test for old pic to identify what actually color that they used. -:born to be someone else is waste, except you have you own signature.
Why do grown men feel the need to end every comment with ‘KTF?!’ It only has any relevance to your own tiny band of like-minded half-wits. BTW, ‘KTF’ has no connection to Mod, only to Northern Soul. They’re not the same thing.
@ThisisTedWells Well, they have the lyrics to the original version, you can find those online. As to what he's actually saying, who knows. The FBI couldn't figure it out, and they spend two years trying. (true story btw)
Another brilliant mod song I like this one good to dance to, long live mods 🤩😊😎🤗
It ACTUALLY doesn't get any better than this.
2022 still reaching us . BRILLIANT ❤
I was there and loved every minute of it.

Best song ever!
Great mod tune. We are the mods!
Like a fascinating mix of The Who and The Kinks. 😀
My nickname is Louie, and when we were kids my older sisters use to spin this 45 on the old phonograph and we all tried to dance along to the song.
OMG remember the Mod's and Rockers, big confrontations st Brightion, been, there, still got "T" shirt lol... happy days to all that remember great times :)
Love this Mod anthem. It was played in every club back in the day. (nice scooters too ) Thanks for posting

Takes me back!
AS everyone forgot John Belushi in ANIMAL HOUSE, what a legend!!!
this was my late uncles favourite song
Listen at around 00:56 and you hear a slight shout in the background, that is in fact the drummer shouting "Fuck"
CRACKED.
only take they made of this song, singer didn't know half the words, they played it in the wrong time signature, and it is amazing.

Great sound quality! Thanks for posting.

"Louie Louie" has held up so much better than those two #1 songs.
Great song and good pictures too
awesome track and top video mate

Still have a genuine old copy of the original hit single, in my cupboard.
The first "garage" version of "Louie-Louie" is due to Rockin' Robin Roberts & the (fabulous) Wailers. It is this cover that inspired the Kingsmen.
The ultimate `Mod` anthem.
Love it great mod. Track
brilliant track
Love This Song.
Keep the faith .... great tunes...... scooters ain't bad ......

This is the real original version, the Kinks did a good one as well.
Really enjoyed your mix. I've got many of the same songs on my personal playlist. Also, like the ones you have - that are not on mine. Thanks.

Your uncle certainly had taste, one of my fav's too.

At 0:55 the drummer yells fuck because he dropped a mic
@iberfiber interesting combo...
Song of the mods !!!
Thanks for the comment, Check out more on Facebook 'scooters galore'
@redman8903 They didn't play it in the wrong time signature, it's in 4/4 like it should be. They just left out the guitar on the fourth beat.
There's a video here with the lyrics.
n 1
it was quite expensive to be a mod in the 60s you hadto have all the gear to be a true mod plus the scooter they looked good though
modernists the only way
they need pixel test for old pic to identify what actually color that they used.
-:born to be someone else is waste, except you have you own signature.
Always KTF...mod forever....
Why do grown men feel the need to end every comment with ‘KTF?!’ It only has any relevance to your own tiny band of like-minded half-wits.
