It did. I was a kid in the 90s and growing up with music of this caliber was, in retrospect, a privilege.
That's because singers had to have talent and a lot still had backing bands. Now its all autotune over EDM. Hell, even the lyrical content has gone downhill
I think it had a lot to do with the way it was recorded. Everything not sounds too clean and over engineered

She puts on quite a performance, like you're thinking what she was feeling when she wrote the song, when she acts that way.

One of the most under-rated singer songwriters of all time. A timeless talent akin to the likes of Billie Holiday & Nina Simone... she is the type that's your favourite artist's favourite artist. You can find video of Quintin Tarentino and Elvis Costello gushing over her... Dave Navarro once slashed his arm open and wrote her name in blood on a dressing room wall. With that voice, the emotion she puts into performing, her song writing and poetic lyrics... she's one for the ages.
