This is classic Michael Buble' He loves to keep his audience involved. Nothing else...He is an awesome performer and any of his fans know this is classic michael
I have to say, I am a fifteen year old teenage girl who is surrounded by crude and disgusting sounds that people try to call "music". However, Buble has truly inspired me. I am in love with both him and his music, and I hope that everyone can open their hearts to not only Michael, but also this wonderful genre he represents.
My hat is off to the younger music lovers who have expressed an appreciation for the standards. One may or may not like Buble, but these are great songs. Buble and the younger listeners who appreciate these songs deserve affirmation for their taste in music.
Nothing like seeing him live. He's absolutely phenomenal as a performer, and that voice! This performance was also fantastic (and no, he wasn't drunk!), and I'm glad he got the chance to be on AI because it could only help get him exposure. People need to hear him. He's just so wonderful. LOVE YOU, MICHAEL!
I love, Love, LOVE Michael Bublé! His smooth and flawless voice can just give me the goosebumps sometimes.. in Home, he sang so feelingly that i cried.. i can really FEEL his songs and i just love him!! i so need to see him live.. he came to my country before when he was not famous yet, but i don't think i knew who he was then. i was real young anyway.. What a golden opportunity thrown away! keep singing great songs, Michael!
People keep knocking him in the comments, but Michael is one of the best vocalists of our generation and easily the best showman of any performer these days. You may not like his voice or this lisp (which I have no idea what you're hearing), but the man is an incredible talent and will be a big act for years to come.
I saw him in concert last night in minneapolis and he was AMAZING! Best concert I've ever been too! He belted out every song so perfectly it was better than the CDS!! It was pretty obvious he was kinda nervous at the beginning of the song but by the end it was back to good ol' buble. I can't wait to see him in concert again!
Agree, think Tony having tante regarde pour Michael au chante dans his place..Magnifique,altre grand performance from a legend in class de Sinatra,Bobby Darin e Elvis..Know his new CD has tante variete, romance e his distinctive style toujours superb..hugs di lisette
for record, lisette here has nothing but kind words, respect e j'adore Michael qui son sophisticated, beau voice his own style,e believe he's always charmant, witty e Mr. Bennett holds him dans bonregards..Bravo,magnifique,Monsieur Buble, ranks no.1 dans mon famille e all amis. Some kind words for ques gifted singer..lisette
Michael has a great sense of humor and you have to know him to understand that. He wasn't pleased with this performance himself. Late notice, he was doing a dvd in the streets of L.A. the night before. Hadn't sung it live yet, and was a little overwhelmed standing in for Tony. And such a huge audience. He usually doesn't let any of that get to him. But I still think it was great!
Being a huge fan of Michael, I can tell you now he is 100% not drunk. To me he didn't seem much different to when he normally performs, just very nervous (he gets nervous performing on live tv) which is understandable, he isn't as confident as everyone thinks and if simon did give him a look it would of knocked him back... But tbh he's just trying to be himself. Yeah it wasn't his best performance but it was still brilliant! He's amazing just watch other videos of him, you'll see...
I hated all the drama accosiated with this preformance, saying he was drunk and all. Hello, he said so in an interview later that he was nervous. He litterally found out he was going to be on like hours before he took the stage. It was exciteng but nerve wrecking. I think he did AMAZING! And you gotta understand too, he likes to joke around on stage. That's my fave part, all his goofy antics! :)
If u go to his channel Michael buble veto and watch the newest video a half hour video he tells you why he sang like this and why people thought he was drunk!!!
I've seen a few of his shows - he's totally funny in concert and has a crazy sense of humor! I don't think any of his comments on the show were offensive in any way!! one or two glitches on the vocals - but what artist HASN'T made a mistake on a show - doesn't mean they are drunk!
I red that Michael Buble claimed that Simon Cowell rolled his eyes, when he sang the fourth sentence of this song. Hence, he became infuriated and it crushed his confidence during this performance
A little nervous at the beginning. As well, his official website says this is the first time he's ever performed this song live. He was only asked to perform on idol on tuesday, he was in the middle press and promotions and a video shoot all week. It was not his own band, except the pianist and had little time to rehearse. I think he did an incredible job all things said! And wait til the tour is underway - he'll have the song perfected!
how could u look foward to tony bennet when michael buble is WAAAY BETTER?! i met him and he is extremely nice and caring and funny! he is a great great preformer. not the best he's had but then again u cant be perfect everytime! he's still awesome! id go to his concerts anyday!
This is crooner at its true form, its never note perfect but its perfect because its a fun laid back kinda music i called it key music aslong as your in the general area it sounds good!
I saw this when it happened live, I can't believe that was 9 years ago. If I remember correctly he wasn't really famous yet back then, or at least not like he is now. I remember watching that crappy idol show (nothing else was on), seeing this, and looking him up. It certainly wasn't one of his best performances but it was enough to get me interested in his work. No one on the actual idol show ever made me do that. Most of them are garbage.
nope, the notes were right on! it was suppose to be sang that way. maybe you heard it differently but when he sang it live in AI, and if you were there to hear it, it sounded really great. Simon even loved it.
Yes! I remember seeing this live - and thinking - he is drunk! And I am a huge Michael Buble fan and love his music and talent - but, yea - he was drunk. But I love him anyway! And he has quit drinking since and is doing awesome.
"Personally, I don't consider Buble minor talent." That statement is based on an unbiased view. A person can be objective without being partial. When I listen to Michael Buble's cover "irresponsible" I'm not thinking about Tony Bennett but strictly the singing, and how he tries to make the song his own.
Mike gave an interview to glenn beck sept. 28th stating he found his performance very bad on AI because a nr of reasons.1)he only heard it a day before.2)it wasn't his own band playing.3)he got scared and intimidated by Simon who gave him a bad look and turned his head away. So I hope this will bring an end to all the discussions here on his performance which clearly wasn't up to his own standards. Please comment/rate my performance of sway on Dutch television, I need the hits ! Thank you
TPTB gave him "a couple hours" (Michael's own words) to fill-in for TONY BENNETT, which is impossible, and sing a song live for the first time in front of Simon Cowell and 35 million people...?! Was it Michael's BEST performance, absolutely not, but it was certainly respectable given the circumstances. Well done, Michael! Oh and as for the lisp, he uses it in concert in jest all the time, and I am going to chalk it up to nerves in this performance.
1:45 - evidence of being drunk. The antonella joke at the end, that was crass. That was the icing on the cake. Only a drunk would make a sex joke like that. Drunks usually get focused on sex (being that antonella was known for sex news) and he just blurt that out. He was undeniably drunk.
Maybe he had a drink or two to calm his nerves like who freaking cares he killed this song like he always does so can we just enjoy good jazz music and get on with our lives
Buble's renditions are his expressions of the song not Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett. Judge the merits of his voice by not comparing him to past greats; it's the only way to avoid biased views. Personally, I don't consider Buble minor talent.
This is quite good. But Buble not perfectly at ease. You all to see the other video recorded in Italy a few later. Wonderfully relaxed and poignant. Good kid. Great!
It just depends the singers' talent and also the listeners open-mindedness. I recently heard a cover of Celine Dion "My heart will go on". First time I heard it, didn't like it. By second, third time I heard it, I based the performance on the voice and if it went well with the song. While I don't think the cover is better than the original; the person has amazing talent, and with other songs would suit better than Celine Dion. It's just that way, I guess.
I love this guy! Emily Blunt is one lucky girl. ^^ His voice is so warm and rich. It's the kind of voice that just makes you melt! Particularly on his songs Sway and Everything. Those two are his best.
Obviously, some have a preference to the original singer but [that] doesn't categorize people who make covers 'minor talent' if others think a particular song doesn't suit them - I mean, there's likely a few Buble songs people might think wouldn't suit Frank Sinatra if he were alive merely because they wouldn't be used to him singing it. Does that make him minor talent?
This is classic Michael Buble' He loves to keep his audience involved. Nothing else...He is an awesome performer and any of his fans know this is classic michael

i love how he dances around and acts crazy like that :)
This man is great...I like artists that are not afraid to be themselves, he has a unique style!
Mr Buble is superb! Always on tune, great phrasing and rythm, love him mucho Keep rocking on Mike, your the best. El Patricko
Michael ALWAYS shows respect to the musicians behind him, the trumpet is incredible and Michael knows it
I love Michael Buble, he has such great stage presence and an amazing sense of humor! :)

I'll only watch American Idol for Michael. He's wonderful!
People keep knocking him in the comments, but Michael is one of the best vocalists of our generation and easily the best showman of any performer these days. He is truly wonderful and a man with some amazing talents!

wow and wow and wow! that last note.... just plain... perfect!
He's never watched this and is convinced he blew it, but as many times as I've seen it, I can't see why.
I love the horns in this...best trumpet playing ever!
Watched this live on tv. Great performance
Agree, think Tony having tante regarde pour Michael au chante dans his place..Magnifique,altre grand performance from a legend in class de Sinatra,Bobby Darin e Elvis..Know his new CD has tante variete, romance e his distinctive style toujours superb..hugs di lisette
Am I missing something? I think the performance was absolutely adorable!
Nice performance!!
I want this in DVD!! I loved his concert, it was a sold out concert!!! He's Canadian too!!
he's wonderful live!
I love this guy's voice and style
Well, no matter WHAT he`s singing, I still love him *lol*
That performance was amazing! The way he sings and the way he performs it suits the song perfectly. And no drunk man could ever sing like that.
He wasn’t drunk, he wasn’t nervous because of the people there, his confidence completely dropped because Simon rolled his eyes
That last note... divine
Great singer :D
He was great as always !!!!!!!!!

He was nervous, last minute replacement, one run through before performing, did a great job
he's amazing :) love him so much!

HE IS JUST WONDERFUL.

He was still young here
👍🏴😎
I dont think hes drunk I just think he likes to have fun when he sings and hes confident and rightfully so!!!!
I echo that, MICHAEL ROCKS!!!!
I thought he was phenomenal, what a showman, what stage presence!
I've seen a few of his shows - he's totally funny in concert and has a crazy sense of humor! I don't think any of his comments on the show were offensive in any way!!
one or two glitches on the vocals - but what artist HASN'T made a mistake on a show - doesn't mean they are drunk!
As he quotes in his book, on stage off stage: "I saw so nervous people even thought I was drunk." He is only human, he gets nervous too!
I red that Michael Buble claimed that Simon Cowell rolled his eyes, when he sang the fourth sentence of this song. Hence, he became infuriated and it crushed his confidence during this performance
spot on jamiereidit
mmmm...he makes me melt... :)
He is so cute!
He's great, he's no Harry Connick Jr. but he's still a great artist, gotta love him
A little nervous at the beginning. As well, his official website says this is the first time he's ever performed this song live. he's a very funny guy, he loves playing around, he aint drunk lol people who dont know him shouldnt say that!

He actually wrote in his book that he was nervous. Not drunk.
Also Simon rolled his eyes at him, made him lose his confidence
Pues en el disco, tiene el studio y todo eso. En vivo es differente
"Personally, I don't consider Buble minor talent."
That statement is based on an unbiased view. A person can be objective without being partial. When I listen to Michael Buble's cover "irresponsible" I'm not thinking about Tony Bennett but strictly the singing, and how he tries to make the song his own.
When I get married i want this to be my first dance song
Did it happen?
LMFAO, yeah, I agree with what Randy would say..."Yo, dawg, man, you did amazing dawg."
Mike gave an interview to glenn beck sept. 28th stating he found his performance very bad on AI because a nr of reasons.1)he only heard it a day before.2)it wasn't his own band playing.3)he got scared and intimidated by Simon who gave him a bad look and turned his head away.

Thank you
The man wasnt sluring he was tipsy hahah oh man more of a reason to why hes aweosme. u dont see josh groban singing a jazz song drunk haha awesome
ok, i watched this whole video just to hear the end lol.
simon rolls his eyes at Michael buble in this performance:
I suppose it wasn't exactly his best performance.. but still Michael Buble is absolutely adorable :)
omg he is so cute.
TPTB gave him "a couple hours" (Michael's own words) to fill-in for TONY BENNETT, which is impossible, and sing a song live for the first time in front of Simon Cowell and 35 million people...?! im not really into this music bvut i love his voice!! :D its like frank sinatra a bit? amazing.
Maybe he had a drink or two to calm his nerves like who freaking cares he killed this song like he always does so can we just enjoy good jazz music and get on with our lives
that is so adorable, hes my absolute favorite that just makes me like him so much more!
@felipolipi2000
Well, there was definitely a sitting ovation.
He was nervous! I love this song! He got BIG shoes to sub... Tony Bennetts!
Buble's renditions are his expressions of the song not Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett. Judge the merits of his voice by not comparing him to past greats; it's the only way to avoid biased views. Personally, I don't consider Buble minor talent.
amen to that :)
Who was he talking about in the last 10 seconds of the clip? What contestant was he asking about wasting his vote? reply would be appreciated.
I agree with you
yay go CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah i hate people who crash on jazz music singers... he sings it just to sing it hes chill
Si es.
nope
he's mine
About Simon and Michael?)))
wow i can't believe i never saw this before
no one can sing that well whilst drunk!
yea....hes good
he said he was so nervous during this performance that he didn't do his best but he didn't let it get him down. it was still ok though.
This is quite good. But Buble not perfectly at ease. You all to see the other video recorded in Italy a few later. Wonderfully relaxed and poignant. Good kid. Great!
Is this his first performance?
It was a last minute change... he probably wasn't ready.
Do people realize the song is called "Call me irresponsible"? he obviously did this on puropose.
It just depends the singers' talent and also the listeners open-mindedness.
I recently heard a cover of Celine Dion "My heart will go on". First time I heard it, didn't like it. While I don't think the cover is better than the original; the person has amazing talent, and with other songs would suit better than Celine Dion. It's just that way, I guess.
I think it's the mic tbh. Doesn't sound like it's picking up his voice very well. It almost sounds squashed.
I love this guy! Emily Blunt is one lucky girl. ^^ His voice is so warm and rich. It's the kind of voice that just makes you melt! Particularly on his songs Sway and Everything. Those two are his best.
he actually admitted in an interview it was just nerves and hes never had a drink before performing

@msbublegirl this is true. ;)
