    Hey Ben! Great video as usual! I just got back from taking a tour of the Martin Guitar factory in Nazareth PA. A bunch guys who work on the neck shaping, along with some of the custom shop guys, said they love your channel and almost everyone in the guitar picking room watch you as well! What a "reach" you have! 'Ol Ben bringing the world together! A tight community! 😊😊

    Whenever I need motivation to get on with a job I play that Triton build series in the background. Whether by design or editing, you come across as much calmer than your usual style. I also love the guitar that resulted from it.

    The knot in the middle of the neck look extremely attractive. I know it's close to the middle of the neck, so from the truss rod, and thus makes a weak spot, but dang it's gorgeous and adds to the story of the guitar. And this method to basically keep the strings on while recarving is genius and might help suiting the carve to the customer's preference even better. That's amazing

    That guitar is one gorgeous piece playable art. I haven't stopped thinking about it since it listed. Leave the neck heel and volute dark and sand down the middle a little to make a burst pattern. That might look like it was played down to the lighter color, like relic'ed

  • @rauschguitars
    @rauschguitars Рік тому +1

    This gets me thinking: Why don't we do the final neck shaping with the strings on? The neck always feels a little different when strung up, so when doing the test assembly before finishing, that would be the perfect time to fine tune the neck shape.

    So Ben... I managed to find a new user for your spirit stains...
    I has an old pair of DiMarzio Jass Bass pickups that were cream colored. I have both the water and spirit based black stain and decided that water was too risky. I soaked the pickups in the stain, and got super results. I was expecting to have to leave them for a while but checked after 5 minutes and they were B-L-A-C-K. Pro tip - I think the stain was starting to desolve the covers as I had to put some force behind seperating the container with the pickup. It wasn't quite bonded but you could tell it wanted to be.
    Left them to dry out, tested with a multi metre and they still have continuity.
    Disclaimer - Dear reader - If you do this, I take zero responsibility for your outcomes. YMMV
