  • Welcome to The Blue Mouse Knits! Today I'll be teaching you how to work a Purl 1 through the back loop which is abbreviated as: P1tbl or P1 tbl. This is one of the basic stitches involved with twisted rib. Each stitch has a front loop and a back loop when you look at it. Normal purl stitches are worked from right to left into the front loop, but twisted stitches are worked from left to right into the back loop. This one is slightly harder than the K1tbl, but if you look at the stitches from the side I find it easier to knit these twisted sts. The video is demonstrated with continental knitting, but you could still follow it as an english knitter, and it will work if you are left or right handed. I'm right handed, but hold the yarn in my left hand so it will work either way.

I've been avoiding Ptbl patterns since forever (probably over 40 years). I've looked it up multiple times and have never been able to grasp the logistics. Yours is the first video that actually explained it to me in a way I could understand it. Looking at the stitch from the side is genius. Thank you so much! I'm now knitting a pattern with twisted rib and it's coming out beautifully.

Thank you SO much for this and your K1tbl video! I'm about to begin an autumn hat that has twisted rib details and was really hoping you'd record some tutorials. Your timing is always perfect haha! :)
