I understand your struggles with finding balance as I also have this struggle, and I really appreciate you sharing your struggles. I love your videos.
I live in British Columbia, Canada and work as a paralegal for one lawyer with a very busy trial practice in the area of motor vehicle personal injury. I also was forced to work from home at the beginning of COVID, and worked at home until June of this year when I was finally able to go back to the office.
When working at home I also found myself working later, not exercising, not eating healthy and not taking personal care time, all of which really started to play on my overall health and well being. As I have high blood pressure and chronic kidney disease, stress and not being healthy play a huge factor on regulating blood pressure and maintaining my kidney function.
One thing that helped me get back on track was telling myself I have to put me first as it is not an option if I don’t want to go into kidney failure, and that meant getting up early, at 4:45 am, not checking my phone, filling up my water bottle and making lemon tea and then doing a workout, whether that was a cardio, weight, yoga or just stretching for at least 30min to an hr, while listening to relaxation music, then shower, skin care, makeup, healthy breakfast of handful of spinach in blender with half of a banana and blueberries for a shake, and oatmeal with flaxseed, other half of banana and cinnamon. While eating I listen to relaxation music, get dressed for day, then look at emails etc. I also follow the Dash Diet plan. It is the number 1 diet plan for dealing with high blood pressure and weight loss. I highly recommend it. I have been able to keep my blood pressure under control by following this diet plan.
I found that just by making the decision to put me first and making me a priority over my job, and following through with it at start of day, rather than the end of my day, I felt better, was more productive and was better able to end my day at a reasonable time which gave me more evening time for other things.
One of the other things I did when I worked from home was set up different workout stations throughout my apartment and every hour I had to get up and do one work station, and drink water. I made myself do this on the days I was not able to get up early. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it. I also had a friend I would connect with at end of each week to stay accountable.
My husband also has been working from home and sometimes he would leave the house in the morning as if he was walking to work but would take his 20min walk around the block and back home instead to make it feel like he was transitioning from personal to work. He always goes for a walk at lunch and again at end of day as if he was walking home from work.
For me one of the hardest things about working from home was transitioning from personal space to work space, especially if you don’t have a dedicated room for your work space, which I don’t and because I was already at home it was hard to shut down for the day.
Now that I am back in the office I have kept up with this same routine, the only difference is that I try to get into the office 15 to 30 min before everyone else to allow time to transition quietly and without all the hustle and bustle of the office activity.
I know you will find a routine that works for you, just know you are definitely not alone in this.

I’m alllllways in my head about meetings that I need to document everything the pressure is definitely there but like you said it’s usually just in our heads ❤️‍🔥 also taking productive blocks are SO helpful, I agree I’d rather work a little on the weekend than be sad about working till 10 on a weekday. Loved this advice 🥰

I totally relate ! I work everyday, from home, essentially a 9-5 job. In regards to finding some balance with keeping active what I like to do is incorporate walks throughout the day. Essentially I’ll walk in the morning immediately when I get up, during my lunch break, and right after work. I try to walk a mile each of those times. This forces me to move my body but also get some fresh air. Maybe you can start incorporating this in your daily routine!

I think for me, finding time for exercise is what i struggle with the most. I can do set up a balance schedule but I always end up not including working out in my schedule and that is bad. I really need to get better at that. I wanna go on more walks. I struggle more during summer times because where I live is always hot and going outside feels like i'm stepping inside an oven. but these last three months of the year are more bearable so I'm looking forward to start incorporating more walks in my routine.. ♡

Finding Balance! Yes Of course it’s the grabbing time to yourself and reset. #health&fitness. So have you ever had a “write up” made mistakes in your job? And how do you deal with it. Have you quit a job? How do you get a therapist? How much is it? I became a mom to soon at 19 so I had to step it up and put myself last. Trick my mind that I’m fine. No time for feels and depre. I’m glad you are so strong and open about your depression. And the work ethic you have 👍 Thanks for sharing. Remember it’s ok to take breaks of the busy life. Self care. ❤️

    • @SelenaTrevino
      @SelenaTrevino  3 роки тому

Thank you so much for sharing! Here are my responses to your questions.
      - I have definitely made mistakes at work, especially in this job because it's so complex and different than my previous jobs. But I'm learning, and that's ok.
      - I have quit jobs several times, yes. Usually because I had another opportunity lined up or because I had to go back to school. i.e. summer jobs.
      - You can find therapists through your network if you have insurance or go to www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists or there are online therapists at betterhelp.com! Prices truly vary. In college I was able to find a therapist for free, she was a masters student. SOmetimes universities have grad students practice and you can go there for free counseling or super affordable counseling!
You are strong, and it's never too late to start taking care of your needs and putting yourself first! You can't pour out of an empty cup. Your family and kids will only benefit from you becoming a better you

Another great video my girl❣️ I get in my head bigggg time when I have meetings with the higher-ups but then the meeting starts and it's like my nerves went away. So you are not the only one this happens to! Keep making baby steps as you will start making progress. You don't have to rush to find balance as long as you are trying, you are doing better than nothing at all.

I can totally relate to this! My anxiety DEFINITELY makes me overthink and I do things like enter an online meeting early then leave when I realize I'm amongst the wrong group! I am over here laughing at myself as I type this. At least I know I'm not alone. You and your videos are SO relatable. I moved here to the DC area last year and in my job I actually had to brief higher ups and not just take notes. Even though it was via MS Teams and they couldn't see me, I used to get SOOO nervous because I just hate public speech period. I'm sure I'd be just as nervous to take notes. Thanks for sharing your mental health journey. I appreciate it especially because I am on the same journey myself. Awesome content. Keep up the great work! :)

you are absolutely NOT ALONE in this at all!! Also, I didn’t mention it in the vlog, but when I did finally sign in again, the director actually did the same thing and talked about it saying “I never know when to sign on, is it too early, should I want until 2?” And that made me feel better Bc higher ups are just people too ☺️
