- Today in this video, Dr. Puru Dhawan is going to tell about the simple exercises that will help a paralysis patient to walk again.
Paralysis occurs when blood flow to the part is stopped due to a clot or vein burst. When the part of the brain is damaged certain body movement is affected as that part of the brain is used to control them.
Exercise for a paralysis patient
1. Walking: Even if the patient is able to move his legs he/she should make sure to walk more and more. Some patients have a difficulty in walking sometimes they might drag a leg or stamp their foot. The patients are advised to walk toe to toe by taking the support of the wall to increase the ability to walk. Patients are advised to do backward walking as it will help the patient to maintain balance.
2. Marching exercise: The patients are advised to use a heavy table to support them. Now hold the table with your working side and start doing the left-right marching exercise standing at a certain position. While doing this exercise they should make sure to bend their knees. The patient is also advised to do the exercise in front of the mirror which will help the patient to know whether they are doing the exercise correctly. In the first month let the patient do the exercise on a plain floor and in the second-month use foam to do the marching exercise. This exercise should be done according to the strength of the body. Try to push yourself and try to increase the effort to this exercise.

1. Make sure to train the brain repeatedly
2. Try to understand the root cause of paralysis
3. Repeated exercise is the cure for paralysis
4. Paralysis is damage to the brain not to the body parts
