@liam walmsley Well, I could tell it was a modern song because it mentions World War 2, which, according to the lyrics, was 60 years earlier. However, my point still stands: you don't hear many love songs that are about life after the wooing is done.
*I can't express how much joy it is to listen to.* It makes me want to sing and dance along - which looks weird in a supermarket queue. Must look like I have to go to the bathroom or something, though I just try to contain myself and going on semi pointe and down over and over or go one small step back and forth over- cross to, carefully to not step at anyones toes. On the other hand: if people kept their distance as told since 2.5 years this wouldn't be something to worry.
I lost my son and I have struggled for years with severe depression and just feeling lost .... this song .... I can't even express how much it has lifted my spirits... I have gone on this grief journey alone and this gives me hope that maybe one day I can find love again in my life... wow.... Im crying

It's not often you find a love song (traditional or modern) that's about life after the wooing stage. I approve. 💕

Nancy Mulligan Lyrics:
I was 24 years old
When I met the woman I would call my own
22 grandkids now growing old
In that house that your brother bought ya
On the summer day when I proposed
I made that wedding ring from dentist gold
And I asked her father, but her daddy said, "No
You can't marry my daughter"
She and I went on the run
Don't care about religion
I'm gonna marry the woman I love
Down by the Wexford border
She was Nancy Mulligan
And I was William Sheeran
She took my name, and then we were one
Down by the Wexford border
Well, I met him at guy's in the second world war
When I was working on a soldier's ward
Never had I seen such beauty before
The moment that I saw you
He said I was his yellow rose
And we got married wearing borrowed clothes
We got eight children now growing old
Five sons and three daughters
She and I went on the run
Don't care about religion
I'm gonna marry the woman I love
Down by the Wexford border
She was Nancy Mulligan
And I was William Sheeran
She took my name, and then we were one
Down by the Wexford border
From the snow-white streak in her jet black hair
Over 60 years, I've been loving her
Now we're sat by the fire in our old armchairs
You know, Nancy, I adore ya
From a farm boy born near Belfast town
I never worried about the king and crown
'Cause I found my heart upon the southern ground
There's no difference, I assure ya
She and I went on the run
Don't care about religion
I'm gonna marry the woman I love
Down by the Wexford border
She was Nancy Mulligan
And I was William Sheeran
She took my name, and then we were one
Down by the Wexford border
She took my name, and then we were one
Down by the Wexford Border
