I would always take these at slower speed. Maybe you need to slow down so you can hit more targets and not crash. I will disclaim that it's been about 20 years since I played this game.

Yep. This is what we had back then. We didnt have 2K or 4K monitors, we had VGA and EGA and your brain had to fill in the details
