For some reason I believe that these large Getters if left to do as they please would eventually re embed themselves into the planet they’re on to turn it into an Emperor ship to reconcile their appearance centuries in the future. Kamui being surviving and being imprisoned could make sense. Takuma we see cares about Kamui enough that at what could’ve been their last feast/time to celebrate he got Kamui to be close to his mother again so if he could he would do what he could to save Kamui since he knows Kamui isn’t attacking out of malice but seeing the future of Getter. Likely escaping to Mars on Arc with the rest of the humans and dinosaurs since Getter since the beginning were meant to be space craft(I think, now that I’ve read the story I’m not so sure now) Kamui likely blames himself for causing the Earth to come to ruin which Gore III uses as an opportunity to take back power and imprison Kamui. Baku likely took the same path that Tarak and Arc took to get back and his time studying the Memories of the Emperor gave him the knowledge to prevent the future they saw. While that sounds counterintuitive to the Getter’s Will, I believe that it does not care for why the humans fight and will allow them to do anything as long as they exist with the Getter. This implies that whatever happened in the Orion Wars made humanity become the monsters we see in the future. With this knowledge the Arc team reunites with Kamui learning that they can save the future willingly joins to fight against the current path of the getter for a new path
I’ve been thinking on this a lot, and I believe I figured it out. The Getter series itself is a series of answers to Fermi’s Paradox, especially The Three Body Trilogy: the premise being that evolution is directly tied to survival of the fittest, and those in the universe aren’t necessarily going to be a friend. In fact, a popular response to the Dark Forest problem of the trilogy is to eliminate the other hunters as they may be hunting you, and the cost of trust is annihilation. Getter solves this as a means to make humanity it’s Ark (not to be confused with Ah or “Arc”) or provides humanity the means to dominate that process. The events of Arc speed up the timeline of humanity’s reach to the stars as a result of BUG, and as a result of multiple species existing upon other planets, which, may not work with whatever’s left of humanity, speeds up Getter Emperor’s evolution, thus, Getter Heaven and a rather unfinished evolution of Getter Dragon. Either way, the tying premise of the series is evolution in all forms, and as a consequence of endless evolution in its most primal form, competition, war is both endless and necessary. At that grand of scale, survival of the species means direct competition with the other inhabitants of the universe.
@@believeingetter744 Heck, thinking on it more, that same premise was likely how the makers of Gurren Lagann came to their final conclusion of “all Spiral Races working together to prevent the Spiral Nemesis” as opposed to complete subjugation; the same difference applies in terms of evolutionary theory. They said they based TTGL on Getter Robo on more ways than one; perhaps the Spiral Nemesis, in their eyes, was the same as Getter Emperor conquering the universe.
It's also interesting to take Grenlagan's example.Grenragan's scriptwriter was also in charge of editing Getter Robo manga. During an interview with Ishika, he talked about the nature of Getter rays. He seems to have been inspired by the conversation with Ishikawa. In that respect, I think the writer of Devolution interpreted it similarly. Ken Ishikawa has been talking about the theme of "If one's justice is reversed, there is malice to the enemy, and what is at the end of human evolution."
Fantastic video; I have some parallel thoughts on the meaning of the ending, but I agree with many of your thoughts my friend. While the ending was not perfect, I do think I see what the production staff was attempting, if a bit on the iffy side. Either way, I think even Ishikawa-san himself would have enjoyed the Arc anime, flaws and all. Maybe if we're lucky they may follow up the breadcrumbs they left at the end and do a sequel, and yes this is unlikely as not treading on Ken Ishikawa's unfinished work is why there hasn't been an attempt to adapt Arc since Ken passed.
슈퍼로봇대전 X에서 마징카이저가 "모든 평행세계의 마징가의 가능성이 집약된 마징가"라는 설정으로 마징가 제로의 카운터로써 등장하는데, 겟타 사가에서도 겟타 엠페러를 대항하는 오리지날 설정이 슈퍼로봇대전에 나왔으면 하네요. 마징 사가에서는 "All For One" 모든 가능성을 하나의 존재로 하여 마징카이저가 만들어졌다면, 겟타 사가에서는 "One For All" 하나의 존재가 모든 가능성으로 라는 느낌으로 겟타 아크가 엠페러를 대항 할 수 있는 다양한 가능성의 시발점이 된다라는 설정으로 나오면 뭔가 재미있을것 같아요.
Few Thoughts from myself. I think that yeah Earth is ruled by Saint Dragon, humans that didn't escaped are Half Getter Hybrids, and only a small percentage survived , even smaller than Dinousaurs, so they're in stalemate, since at this point humans can use getter all they want, they can fuck up more. And I think that Future already been changed, Humans in the Getter Arc Future were stated to move to other planets few generations after Arc escapade, so it doesn't add up. As for Baku, I have my own idea, he send Go back in time. In original Manga we didn't saw what happened to him , So I like to think that Manga is the future with Emperor, Anime is not, and that because Baku stayed with Emperor, and because he was the only one that ,,willingly" (Like not after death, gravely wounded or obssesed) stayed in Getter and was capable of not fully becoming one with Getter and was capable of keeping concsiusness . As Proto Emperor, maybe it's also sensed changes, and became paradox?

The thing is, we know the role all of the other Getter’s played in the story, Ancient Getter there has no known role in the story so that one is a mystery for now… my personal theory is that the 4 represent components to the Emperor with Tarak being the Shin Getter seen in Ryoma’s vision of the future where Shin Getter leads the fleet
That Getter exists only through Ishikawa Ken's illustrations, and there is no specific storyline. It has been called an ancient getter as a resin figure, so it is often called an ancient getter. God Getter is based on the design of the ancient Getter.

결국 어찌됐던 엠페러가 될 겟타 드래곤은 깨어났고.. 겟타 아크의 결말은 깔끔한것 같습니다. 독자가 여러 방향으로 생각할 수 있도록 만화적 장치를 사용해서 길을 열어줬어요. 나가레 타쿠마가 엠페러가 나타나는 미래는 자신들이 관여한 미래가 아니라고 하는데 해석에 따라서는 결국 카무이의 행동이 인류가 우주에 진출하게 만들어서 엠페러가 나타나게 하는 트리거를 만들었고, 엠페러가 나타나는 미래 자체가 결국은 관여에도 불구하고, 혹은 관여에 의해서 나타나는 미래일 것이라고 생각할 수도 있을 거고, 아니면 타쿠마의 대사처럼 엠페러가 나오는 미래가 바뀔 수 있을 거라고 기대할 수도 있을거고요.. 개인적인 해석으로는 결국 겟타 드래곤은 깨어났고 그 전에 나온 진화가 시작되었다는 료마의 환영의 대사로 미루어 봤을때 버그로 깨어난 드래곤을 막지 못한다는 주장에 조금은 힘이 실릴만한 것 같네요. 버그와 서로 맞서고 있는 아크 뒤에 드래곤이 나타나는 구도도 작가의 생각이 담긴 거란 생각이 듭니다. 그리고 마지막 에필로그는 이렇게 여러 해석이 가능한, 즉 모든 것을 설명하지 못하더라도 깔끔함이 느껴지는 겟타 아크의 결말에 함부로 손을 대기 어렵다는 이해도 반영되어 있는것 같습니다. 에필로그 영상은 그 직전에 나오는 "故 이시카와 켄 선생님께 바칩니다" 라는 말에서 엿볼 수 있듯 어떤 오리지날 결말을 제시하는 것보다도 그런 아크를 지켜보는, 지켜봤던 많은 이들의 머릿속에서 떠올랐던 이미지를 보여주는 것에서 더 큰 의미가 있는것 같습니다.

I don’t really see Arc fighting Proto-Emperor as an admission that all Getter is evil, if anything I see that as meaning that Takuma and friends will use the power of the Getter to make their own future with Emperor that doesn’t involve its current apocalyptic crusade. I think that the Arc anime goes out of its way to show that Getter Emperor isn’t an inherently evil entity, with anime only elements like Go’s return and the entire conversation that occurs on the Getter’s will in episode 12 (and especially Baku wanting to take it over) portraying the Getter Rays in a much more similar way to Go’s ending (and you could argue the Last Day of the World OVA).
Your argument is also valid. I argued in the last Masussensen video that the Emperor, where Baku remained, evolved in a direction different from the destructive aspect. Yeah, is it similar to the will of Getter Rays from the ending of Manga Go?
I have a theory: what if the Getter Saint Dragon/Kyodai Dragon that appeared in New Getter Robo was the result of Getter Dragon not fusing with Getter Ten and evolving on its own? Aside from reusing an old sketch, Getter Dragon in the Arc Anime seems to be incomplete, almost as if it's still in its evolution process but awakened prematurely. Not to mention Arc's Getter Saint Dragon bears some resemblance to New's Getter Saint Dragon.

I recently rewatched Arc as the American Blu Ray was released in late June. I always felt that there would be a parallel between Dragon and Bug’s fight with Dragon’s previous fight with Uzahra, stating it is pointless to fight when there is no chance of victory but Kamui insists he must try to save the universe. Dragon pollutes the earth with Getter Rays and humans become the Getter monsters from Shin, and Bug is getting beaten down hard, with Takuma watching in horror as his friend is crushed. I like to think Takuma saves Kamui in a manner similar to how Kamui saved him when they fought Zordo XX. While Dragon destroys Bug, he starts consuming Bug and Takuma rips Bug opened to save him, with Baku somehow helping the two of them escape to Mars with Kamui being imprisoned by the remains of humanity and the Dinosaur Empire, Takuma eventually being reunited with Baku because they know Getter One won’t let Kamui off the hook, and then the anime ending. Also I like to think Sho became the new Hayato on mars, and I used to think Kamui would die but now I’m not sure. Ishikawa always left Getter Two pilots alive, and Kamui being left alive, alone or otherwise and forced to live with his choices and eventually make peace with them feels fitting. I hope we get another Getter anime soon, as your videos are always fun to watch as supplementary to the animation.

I rather liked the ending, and i have to strongly disagree that it didn't capture what Ken probably had planned, as it was built on pretty much nothing but what the manga/arc anime had set up on a logical level, as well as being a continuation of the Themes of Getter Robo. Starting with the trio and their character journeys, i'll be blunt with our beloved monk. Other than undoubtedly bringing back vital information from the emperor, im not sure what role he would play in this epilogue. But the unfortunate fact that while not bad, he has always been the weak link in the arc trio. Kamui and Takuma's journeys though, are built so heavily upon EVERYTHING that's come before that i don't understand how anyone can call it nonsense(though there is ONE big problem with the animated version of Takuma that i will cover). Takuma's entire journey was built up as a mirror to his father's beginning from the start of the manga. Both started their journey on a revenge quest, and both of them embraced their aboslute worst impulses as human beings in those journeys to revenge. The difference of course, is that Ryoma started the manga as a monster, who brutalized and beat the shit out of completely innocent people who's "Crime" was taking part in a martial arts contest hosted by the people who ruined Ryoma's father's career. By contrast, Takuma started off as a classic early 2000's idiot, shonen hero. He could be an ass, but overall he was a nice guy... Except in regards to the fact that his entire motivation was built entierly on revenge, just like his father originally was. The thing is though, that both of them would get their revenge, and both would discover that it all led to one, giant anticlimax, that had no satisfaction whatsoever. Ryoma manages the goal of brutalizing and humiliating the people who took down his father all those years ago with ease, and goes home afterwards only to realise that nothing has changed. he's still poor, lives in a rundown shack, martial arts as a sport wont change from what he's done, and to top it all off, there was no satisfaction to be had. It was a lifetime of brutal, brutal training for a payoff that made it all seem like one big joke. Revenge is a suckers game, and it's only after learning that lesson, and being recruited by a bigger cause where he can put that ridiculous strenght of his to better other peoples lives, that Ryoma starts becoming a better person. Takuma also gets his revenge, and just like his father, he finds it completely anticlimactic, as he crushes Macdonald under the palm of arc with no difficulty whatsoever, Only to begin wondering if this seriously was the end of his revenge? Was this completely unsatisfying anticlimax really what he had devoted his entire life to? Unfortunately Ken didn't get to explore the aftermath of that, as Arc ended immediatly afterwards, but it's not hard to puzzle out that learning how pointless revenge, just for revenge's sake is, would play a major role in him forgiving Kamui and recruiting him back to pilot the Arc against the Proto Emperor. Unfortunately, this is really, really undermined in the anime version, as while Takuma ended up having the same reaction after killing macdonald, it is nowhere near as powerfull, nor at all clear that the message was "Revenge for revenges sake is pointless", because rather than an intentional anticlimax where Takuma gets his revenge, it's instead a massive, climactic battle that's not anticlimactic in the slightest, which i consider the one genuine stain on the arc anime as a story, as they completely fucked up the entire end of takuma's revenge story for the sake of having a battle. moving on, there is also the fact that takuma showing up to break Kamui out, but not holding Kamui's horrible, horrible actions against him as long as he comes and pilots Arc with them, is a direct callback and parallell with his father's recruitment of Hayato, as Hayato at the time was a horrible, horrible mosnter(though much, much more mundane than Kamui), but Ryoma just didnt care as long as the former Terrorist helped him pilot Getter Robo to save the human race. Which is a retread of Getter Robo's themes of our bonds with our fellow human being being what truly makes humans special creatures. Brotherhood and companionship makes us better people. Both Ryoma and Hayato started out as complete and total scumbags, but as they piloted the getter and was forced to interact with both the people of the saotome institute, as well as their fellow pilots, both of them changed. Both became better people, as a result of their friendships with their fellow man. As for Kamui, his journey is a mirror of both Hayato, but also dr saotome. The hayato parallels are pretty obvious(intentional or othervise, Kamui has strong, STRONG similarities with Armageddon Hayato, who also ended the world, though in a less directly by his own hands kind of way, and then had to live to deal with the consequences), but the parallels with Saotome is no less strong or relevant. Like Saotome, Kamui decided to embrace the idea that he knew what was better than anyone else, and that he would sacrifice absolutely everything to make it a reality, not matter the cost, because he truly believed that this would lead to a better future. Instead, just like what in the end happened with Saotome, this all ended up blowing up completely in his face, as it was all for absolutely nothing. Not only did he not achieve his goals of stopping the getter emperor, but he sacrificed EVERYTHING in process. His mother, his friends, his friendships with Takuma and Baku, his morals, the very planet he wanted to secure so his people could have a future. Kamui has aboslutely nothing left but his life, hence why he innitially tells Takuma to piss off. He is a broken man with no hope for a better future. But one the of the enduring messages of Getter Robo, which we have explored through character like Ryoma, Hayato and even characters like Schwartz, is that even if you are a genuinly horrible person, that doesnt mean you cannot embrace your bonds with your fellow humans, and become better than what you are now. and frankly, if there is a character right now that is in need of a redemption arc, it has to be Kamui. I will addmit though, that if we ever get a continuation that shows the events of this epilogue, i hope that the prison he's held in is a bit more impressive, because rushed or not, i have to say that the biggest criminal in the history the earth being this easy to break out seems more than a little silly :P And as for the final battle taking place on mars, it was pretty blatant in shin that we would be exploring mars in some way or form, and that it was absolutely critical for the final development of the Getter Emperor(personally i always thought that the final battle would be Arc and Bug teaming up to prevent Dragon from making it's way over the red planet to finish it's transformation, but i was obviously wrong in that regard.). Obviously this is just my interpretation, but the way i see it, like a regular Getter Robo requires 3 pilots, the Emperor requires 3 main components to form. The first thing it requires is the energy to power the entire thing, which it creates with Dragons. The second thing, and the thing it went through such massive lengths to get from humanity(wiping out the original dinosaur empire, kickstarting humanity's evolutionary progress, Probably wiping out the Atlantis civilization when they bypassed the need for getter ray technology, and helping humanity time and again against their enemies) is a pilot strong enough to pilot it, which it created in the form of Ryoma Nagare, who it has a tendency to absorb into itself across the various versions of getter, since he was the main purpose of EVERYTHING the getter set up with humanity and the Earth. Ryoma visits a past where we get to see a previous cycle where the Dragon was indeed formed, but there doesnt seem to be a pilot, so the Dragon just roams the sky looking for someone with the will and power to take control over it's physical form, destroying absolutely everything on the doomed planet. And finally, with the energy and the pilot, the only thing that remains is sheer mass to form the literal planet sized Emperor. Which the Getter is going to absorb from Mars itself, which the Getter just so happens to have gone through great difficulties to make sure was remade into something much, much more viable at the end of Go, when it also absorbed it's pilot Ryoma. And lo and behold, the final showdown between the Arc trio, and "the enemy of all living things" just so happens to take place on mars. I actually love the way that the end of Go hypes up the idea that if humans ever went to mars, they would find something truly "Amazing" but also that it was a possibility that it might be better if it never came to pass. Now with the context of the epilogue, this is now a bit of brilliant meta commentary on Ken's part, because that "Amazing" that would be found on Mars, was the final battle of the entire manga continuity. Also, i don't think that the arc team winning against the proto Emperor would mean a final ending to the cycle of the getter trying to build the emperor somewhere in the universe. Just the end of this particular cycle.
Very interesting read, far more in depth than I ever thought about, only thing I can really object to is that Mars is the place where Emperor gains its mass. I personally believe that it requires multiple planets since all the Emperor Ships seem planet sized so the Saint Dragon and Proto Emperor I see as re embedding themselves into the planets where instead of metamorphosis they absorb the planets to gain the mass however the 3rd ship doesn’t have a known equivalent Getter that undergoes Metamorphosis and Absorbtion. I initially thought it was Arc due to Emperor Jaguar having similar features to Arc mostly the back spikes. if anything that may have been the case once upon a time in the path the Getter took to become the Emperor but now with the knowledge Baku brought back and the Arc team seeing the future it they now will fight against it. Though Ancient Getter is part of the section of the Mandala where the 2 Emperor components are so that one may be the 3rd Emperor Ship with Tarak the Shin Getter shown leading the fleet shown in the future
Kamui's prison is indeed looking very plain, but I guess it makes sense too. Who would think anyone would try to rescue Kamui, of all people? If he was to break out by himself, where would he go? Those bars look like Kamui could bend them with bare hands, but the point is that he wouldn't want to. In the epilogue Kamui rightfully thinks he deserves to rot in cell, and initially refuses chance of salvation, I guess his confinement wouldn't be any different if there were no bars at all. It kinda echoes Buddhist concept of hell. Hell is not a place, it's a condition. It's not about where you are, it's about how you feel.

12:50인터넷에서 보니까 고대겟타에 정보는 일부분만 있고 정보라고해도 이시카와 켄이 그린 일러스트 1한장 과 고대겟타 피규어로 보이는 고대겟타 1,2 뿐 그리고 정말 스잘 대기업는 건대 아크 애니에서 엠패러에 색 배열이 다르더라구요 (예:허리,배쪽 부분 애니에서는 거이 전신 빨간색 통일돼어 있슴) 아마 세최날 진겟타2,3 색 배열을 따라한듯
이시카와켄센세께선 아크를 겟타로보 사가의 완결만이 아닌 본인이 제작했던 모든 작품들의 완결푠으로 생각하고 집필하시고자 했다는 썰이 있었죠 융합 생명과 기계가 융합 하듯히 공룡제국과 인간의 융합도 충분히 센세께서 엄두해두셨을 방향중 하나가 아니었을까 싶기도 합니다. 다만 이런 요소들을 제쳐 두더라도 기대더 암했건 겟타로보 애미의 신작 거기에 원작의 존중이 제대로된 수박애미를 만난것으로도 팬으로선 너무 감격스럽지만 말이죠
더 무시무시하다고나 해야할까요 아니면 코스믹 호러라고 해야할까요... 원작에서 겟타 엠페러 본인이 말하긴 자신 조차도 겟타의 종착지 중 하나에 불과하다라고 했으니... 사실상 겟타 엠페러를 막기 위해 싸우는 아크도 겟타 엠페러와 동급의 또 다른 진화에 도달 할 가능성이 있다는 이야기죠. 설령 아크가 진 겟타와 다르게 파일럿을 따르는 모범생일지라도 결국 아크도 겟타이며 겟타선의 화신이니까...
원래부터가 우주의 모든 생물이 신들이 '시천공'이라는 극악의 끝판왕을 죽이려고 만들어냈다는게 설정인걸 보면, 평행세계의 어떤 엠페러도 약간의 차이만 있을뿐. 결국은 본질은 같을겁니다. 즉 최대한 진화를 하려고 노력하면서 언젠가는 오고야 말 시천공과의 결전을 대비하는거죠.

솔직히 나는 아크와 버그가 싸우는 장면까지 세밀하게 보여줄줄 알았는데 그런게 아니라 원작과 같이 드레곤만 보여줘서 당황했고 아쉬웠다고 생각함 그런데 내가 잘못 생각하는것도 있었던겉 같다 잊어버린것은 겟타의 가장 큰 매력은 결말이 아니라 끝없는 싸움이라는 것이다

For some reason I believe that these large Getters if left to do as they please would eventually re embed themselves into the planet they’re on to turn it into an Emperor ship to reconcile their appearance centuries in the future.
Kamui being surviving and being imprisoned could make sense. Takuma we see cares about Kamui enough that at what could’ve been their last feast/time to celebrate he got Kamui to be close to his mother again so if he could he would do what he could to save Kamui since he knows Kamui isn’t attacking out of malice but seeing the future of Getter. Likely escaping to Mars on Arc with the rest of the humans and dinosaurs since Getter since the beginning were meant to be space craft(I think, now that I’ve read the story I’m not so sure now) Kamui likely blames himself for causing the Earth to come to ruin which Gore III uses as an opportunity to take back power and imprison Kamui. Baku likely took the same path that Tarak and Arc took to get back and his time studying the Memories of the Emperor gave him the knowledge to prevent the future they saw. While that sounds counterintuitive to the Getter’s Will, I believe that it does not care for why the humans fight and will allow them to do anything as long as they exist with the Getter. This implies that whatever happened in the Orion Wars made humanity become the monsters we see in the future. With this knowledge the Arc team reunites with Kamui learning that they can save the future willingly joins to fight against the current path of the getter for a new path

I’ve been thinking on this a lot, and I believe I figured it out. The Getter series itself is a series of answers to Fermi’s Paradox, especially The Three Body Trilogy: the premise being that evolution is directly tied to survival of the fittest, and those in the universe aren’t necessarily going to be a friend. In fact, a popular response to the Dark Forest problem of the trilogy is to eliminate the other hunters as they may be hunting you, and the cost of trust is annihilation. Getter solves this as a means to make humanity it’s Ark (not to be confused with Ah or “Arc”) or provides humanity the means to dominate that process. The events of Arc speed up the timeline of humanity’s reach to the stars as a result of BUG, and as a result of multiple species existing upon other planets, which, may not work with whatever’s left of humanity, speeds up Getter Emperor’s evolution, thus, Getter Heaven and a rather unfinished evolution of Getter Dragon. Either way, the tying premise of the series is evolution in all forms, and as a consequence of endless evolution in its most primal form, competition, war is both endless and necessary. At that grand of scale, survival of the species means direct competition with the other inhabitants of the universe.

@@believeingetter744 Heck, thinking on it more, that same premise was likely how the makers of Gurren Lagann came to their final conclusion of “all Spiral Races working together to prevent the Spiral Nemesis” as opposed to complete subjugation; the same difference applies in terms of evolutionary theory. They said they based TTGL on Getter Robo on more ways than one; perhaps the Spiral Nemesis, in their eyes, was the same as Getter Emperor conquering the universe.

It's also interesting to take Grenlagan's example.Grenragan's scriptwriter was also in charge of editing Getter Robo manga. During an interview with Ishika, he talked about the nature of Getter rays. He seems to have been inspired by the conversation with Ishikawa. In that respect, I think the writer of Devolution interpreted it similarly. Ken Ishikawa has been talking about the theme of "If one's justice is reversed, there is malice to the enemy, and what is at the end of human evolution."

Fantastic video; I have some parallel thoughts on the meaning of the ending, but I agree with many of your thoughts my friend. While the ending was not perfect, I do think I see what the production staff was attempting, if a bit on the iffy side. Either way, I think even Ishikawa-san himself would have enjoyed the Arc anime, flaws and all. Maybe if we're lucky they may follow up the breadcrumbs they left at the end and do a sequel, and yes this is unlikely as not treading on Ken Ishikawa's unfinished work is why there hasn't been an attempt to adapt Arc since Ken passed.

슈퍼로봇대전 X에서 마징카이저가 "모든 평행세계의 마징가의 가능성이 집약된 마징가"라는 설정으로 마징가 제로의 카운터로써 등장하는데,
겟타 사가에서도 겟타 엠페러를 대항하는 오리지날 설정이 슈퍼로봇대전에 나왔으면 하네요.
마징 사가에서는 "All For One" 모든 가능성을 하나의 존재로 하여 마징카이저가 만들어졌다면,
겟타 사가에서는 "One For All" 하나의 존재가 모든 가능성으로 라는 느낌으로 겟타 아크가 엠페러를 대항 할 수 있는 다양한 가능성의 시발점이 된다라는 설정으로 나오면 뭔가 재미있을것 같아요.
오 정말 흥미로운 설정이네요.. 사실 원작 만화에서도 아크가 엄청 강한 모습을 보여주진 못했고, 애니도 버그한테 결국 드래곤의 도움을 받는 한계가 있는데

Few Thoughts from myself. I think that yeah Earth is ruled by Saint Dragon, humans that didn't escaped are Half Getter Hybrids, and only a small percentage survived , even smaller than Dinousaurs, so they're in stalemate, since at this point humans can use getter all they want, they can fuck up more. And I think that Future already been changed, Humans in the Getter Arc Future were stated to move to other planets few generations after Arc escapade, so it doesn't add up. As for Baku, I have my own idea, he send Go back in time. In original Manga we didn't saw what happened to him , So I like to think that Manga is the future with Emperor, Anime is not, and that because Baku stayed with Emperor, and because he was the only one that ,,willingly" (Like not after death, gravely wounded or obssesed) stayed in Getter and was capable of not fully becoming one with Getter and was capable of keeping concsiusness . As Proto Emperor, maybe it's also sensed changes, and became paradox?

Exactly my thoughts, that bulky shin getter is defnitily the one of shin vs neo. Maybe the mandala represent the union of all getter appearances in anime/manga??
The thing is, we know the role all of the other Getter’s played in the story, Ancient Getter there has no known role in the story so that one is a mystery for now… my personal theory is that the 4 represent components to the Emperor with Tarak being the Shin Getter seen in Ryoma’s vision of the future where Shin Getter leads the fleet
That Getter exists only through Ishikawa Ken's illustrations, and there is no specific storyline. It has been called an ancient getter as a resin figure, so it is often called an ancient getter.
God Getter is based on the design of the ancient Getter.

결국 어찌됐던 엠페러가 될 겟타 드래곤은 깨어났고.. 겟타 아크의 결말은 깔끔한것 같습니다. 독자가 여러 방향으로 생각할 수 있도록 만화적 장치를 사용해서 길을 열어줬어요. 나가레 타쿠마가 엠페러가 나타나는 미래는 자신들이 관여한 미래가 아니라고 하는데 해석에 따라서는 결국 카무이의 행동이 인류가 우주에 진출하게 만들어서 엠페러가 나타나게 하는 트리거를 만들었고, 엠페러가 나타나는 미래 자체가 결국은 관여에도 불구하고, 혹은 관여에 의해서 나타나는 미래일 것이라고 생각할 수도 있을 거고, 아니면 타쿠마의 대사처럼 엠페러가 나오는 미래가 바뀔 수 있을 거라고 기대할 수도 있을거고요.. 개인적인 해석으로는 결국 겟타 드래곤은 깨어났고 그 전에 나온 진화가 시작되었다는 료마의 환영의 대사로 미루어 봤을때 버그로 깨어난 드래곤을 막지 못한다는 주장에 조금은 힘이 실릴만한 것 같네요. 버그와 서로 맞서고 있는 아크 뒤에 드래곤이 나타나는 구도도 작가의 생각이 담긴 거란 생각이 듭니다. 그리고 마지막 에필로그는 이렇게 여러 해석이 가능한, 즉 모든 것을 설명하지 못하더라도 깔끔함이 느껴지는 겟타 아크의 결말에 함부로 손을 대기 어렵다는 이해도 반영되어 있는것 같습니다. 에필로그 영상은 그 직전에 나오는 "故 이시카와 켄 선생님께 바칩니다" 라는 말에서 엿볼 수 있듯 어떤 오리지날 결말을 제시하는 것보다도 그런 아크를 지켜보는, 지켜봤던 많은 이들의 머릿속에서 떠올랐던 이미지를 보여주는 것에서 더 큰 의미가 있는것 같습니다.
또 영상에서도 지적됐듯 에필로그 내용의 개연성이 낮은 데에서도 그런 의도를 엿볼 수 있다고 생각합니다. 영상에서 지적된 부분 외에 에필로그에 바쿠가 같이 있는것도 이상하죠 ㅋㅋ 저에게는 '바쿠가 함께 있어야 아크의 마지막으로서 좋아보이는 그림이 되니까" 로 보입니다. 또한 이러한 제 개인적 해석이 꼬리를 물고 더욱 더 저의 그런 생각에 힘을 실어주네요.
결론적으로 제 생각엔 에필로그는 결말을 제시하는 의도보다는 겟타로보 사가의 마지막을 지켜보는 우리에게 보기좋은 장면을 보여주고 여운을 주며 겟타로보의 마무리를 좋게 하기 위해 만든 영상이고 해석하려 하는 것 자체가 맞지 않는 것으로도 보입니다.. 에필로그 영상 직전에 나온 "故 이시카와 켄 선생님께 바칩니다." 라는 문구 때문에 더 그렇게 생각이 되기도 하구요.
그리고 아크 애니메이션에는 분명 상업적이고 현실적인 이해관계로 추가되거나 빠진 요소와 장면도 많을 것입니다. 우리는 너무 있는 그대로 좋게 해석하려고만 하는게 아닌가 하는 생각도 드네요.

어릴 때 봐서 기억은 안나지만 진화의 과정은 투쟁의 연속이고, 살아남아 진화를 계속한다는 것은 투쟁에서 승리하는 것이라는 점에서 겟타가 항상 '우리의 싸움은 이제부터다'라는 식으로 끝난 게 아닐까 합니다.
한편으로 작가의 상상력으로 제시해준 열린 결말은 결국 여기까지 바라본 독자로 하여금 스스로 생각하게끔 해준다는점이 매력적인 결말이죠.

I don’t really see Arc fighting Proto-Emperor as an admission that all Getter is evil, if anything I see that as meaning that Takuma and friends will use the power of the Getter to make their own future with Emperor that doesn’t involve its current apocalyptic crusade. I think that the Arc anime goes out of its way to show that Getter Emperor isn’t an inherently evil entity, with anime only elements like Go’s return and the entire conversation that occurs on the Getter’s will in episode 12 (and especially Baku wanting to take it over) portraying the Getter Rays in a much more similar way to Go’s ending (and you could argue the Last Day of the World OVA).
Your argument is also valid. I argued in the last Masussensen video that the Emperor, where Baku remained, evolved in a direction different from the destructive aspect. Yeah, is it similar to the will of Getter Rays from the ending of Manga Go?

I have a theory: what if the Getter Saint Dragon/Kyodai Dragon that appeared in New Getter Robo was the result of Getter Dragon not fusing with Getter Ten and evolving on its own? Aside from reusing an old sketch, Getter Dragon in the Arc Anime seems to be incomplete, almost as if it's still in its evolution process but awakened prematurely. Lower right Getter was seen in Shin vs Neo with a different palate and without spikes ala Arc as “God Getter Robo”. Other versions, such as a poster, have it with spikes. Why do people call it “Ancient”?
Because the getter of this design came out as a resin figure, the product name was ancient getter. The ancient Getter figure was made based on the Getter that appears in the illustrations of Ken Ishikawa. Also, the God Getter, which later came out of the neo ova, borrowed the design of the 'Ancient Getter'.

그럴 생각이 있었다 해도, 2021년에 만드는 고전로봇 시리즈물에 그럴 만한 예산을 주지도 않았죠...
에필로그는 각종 오마주, 그리고 원작에 대한 이해도가 출중한 연출을 넣어준 일종의 서비스신이라고 생각합니다.

저는 이 마지막화에서 제일 눈길 가던 부분이 하야토.
그 전에도 어렴풋하게나마 생각하기는 했는데,여기서 또 새삼스럽게 이 진 하야토라는 인물이 의외로 정이 많은 인물이 아닐까하는 생각을 했습니다.자기만 남겨두고 떠나가는 소중한 동료들을 보며 나만 살아남으란 거냐 하는 절규......하야토는 분명 카무이를 자기 아들처럼도 생각하고 있었을 것입니다.지금 나이를 얼마나 먹든,프로페서 란도우 기지를 조지다가 입은 부상에 시달리느라 몸상태가 그리 좋지는 않든간에 옛날 성격대로라면 카무이의 가죽을 벗겨놔도 이상할 게 없는데.
생각보다 정이 많은 남자 하야토... 자기가 아들이라 생각했을 수도 있는 카무이에 의해

근데 무수한 각자의 해석 또한 겟타의 진화와 같다라는 느낌으로 의도적으로 매번 엔딩을 이런식으로 내는지....

I recently rewatched Arc as the American Blu Ray was released in late June.
I always felt that there would be a parallel between Dragon and Bug’s fight with Dragon’s previous fight with Uzahra, stating it is pointless to fight when there is no chance of victory but Kamui insists he must try to save the universe. Dragon pollutes the earth with Getter Rays and humans become the Getter monsters from Shin, and Bug is getting beaten down hard, with Takuma watching in horror as his friend is crushed. I like to think Takuma saves Kamui in a manner similar to how Kamui saved him when they fought Zordo XX. While Dragon destroys Bug, he starts consuming Bug and Takuma rips Bug opened to save him, with Baku somehow helping the two of them escape to Mars with Kamui being imprisoned by the remains of humanity and the Dinosaur Empire, Takuma eventually being reunited with Baku because they know Getter One won’t let Kamui off the hook, and then the anime ending.
Also I like to think Sho became the new Hayato on mars, and I used to think Kamui would die but now I’m not sure. Ishikawa always left Getter Two pilots alive, and Kamui being left alive, alone or otherwise and forced to live with his choices and eventually make peace with them feels fitting.
I hope we get another Getter anime soon, as your videos are always fun to watch as supplementary to the animation.

I rather liked the ending, and i have to strongly disagree that it didn't capture what Ken probably had planned, as it was built on pretty much nothing but what the manga/arc anime had set up on a logical level, as well as being a continuation of the Themes of Getter Robo.
Starting with the trio and their character journeys, i'll be blunt with our beloved monk. Other than undoubtedly bringing back vital information from the emperor, im not sure what role he would play in this epilogue. But the unfortunate fact that while not bad, he has always been the weak link in the arc trio.
Kamui and Takuma's journeys though, are built so heavily upon EVERYTHING that's come before that i don't understand how anyone can call it nonsense(though there is ONE big problem with the animated version of Takuma that i will cover).
Takuma's entire journey was built up as a mirror to his father's beginning from the start of the manga. Both started their journey on a revenge quest, and both of them embraced their aboslute worst impulses as human beings in those journeys to revenge. The difference of course, is that Ryoma started the manga as a monster, who brutalized and beat the shit out of completely innocent people who's "Crime" was taking part in a martial arts contest hosted by the people who ruined Ryoma's father's career.
By contrast, Takuma started off as a classic early 2000's idiot, shonen hero. He could be an ass, but overall he was a nice guy... Except in regards to the fact that his entire motivation was built entierly on revenge, just like his father originally was.
The thing is though, that both of them would get their revenge, and both would discover that it all led to one, giant anticlimax, that had no satisfaction whatsoever. Ryoma manages the goal of brutalizing and humiliating the people who took down his father all those years ago with ease, and goes home afterwards only to realise that nothing has changed. he's still poor, lives in a rundown shack, martial arts as a sport wont change from what he's done, and to top it all off, there was no satisfaction to be had. It was a lifetime of brutal, brutal training for a payoff that made it all seem like one big joke. Revenge is a suckers game, and it's only after learning that lesson, and being recruited by a bigger cause where he can put that ridiculous strenght of his to better other peoples lives, that Ryoma starts becoming a better person.
Takuma also gets his revenge, and just like his father, he finds it completely anticlimactic, as he crushes Macdonald under the palm of arc with no difficulty whatsoever, Only to begin wondering if this seriously was the end of his revenge? Was this completely unsatisfying anticlimax really what he had devoted his entire life to? Unfortunately Ken didn't get to explore the aftermath of that, as Arc ended immediatly afterwards, but it's not hard to puzzle out that learning how pointless revenge, just for revenge's sake is, would play a major role in him forgiving Kamui and recruiting him back to pilot the Arc against the Proto Emperor.
Unfortunately, this is really, really undermined in the anime version, as while Takuma ended up having the same reaction after killing macdonald, it is nowhere near as powerfull, nor at all clear that the message was "Revenge for revenges sake is pointless", because rather than an intentional anticlimax where Takuma gets his revenge, it's instead a massive, climactic battle that's not anticlimactic in the slightest, which i consider the one genuine stain on the arc anime as a story, as they completely fucked up the entire end of takuma's revenge story for the sake of having a battle.
moving on, there is also the fact that takuma showing up to break Kamui out, but not holding Kamui's horrible, horrible actions against him as long as he comes and pilots Arc with them, is a direct callback and parallell with his father's recruitment of Hayato, as Hayato at the time was a horrible, horrible mosnter(though much, much more mundane than Kamui), but Ryoma just didnt care as long as the former Terrorist helped him pilot Getter Robo to save the human race.
Which is a retread of Getter Robo's themes of our bonds with our fellow human being being what truly makes humans special creatures. Brotherhood and companionship makes us better people. Both Ryoma and Hayato started out as complete and total scumbags, but as they piloted the getter and was forced to interact with both the people of the saotome institute, as well as their fellow pilots, both of them changed. Both became better people, as a result of their friendships with their fellow man.
As for Kamui, his journey is a mirror of both Hayato, but also dr saotome. The hayato parallels are pretty obvious(intentional or othervise, Kamui has strong, STRONG similarities with Armageddon Hayato, who also ended the world, though in a less directly by his own hands kind of way, and then had to live to deal with the consequences), but the parallels with Saotome is no less strong or relevant. Like Saotome, Kamui decided to embrace the idea that he knew what was better than anyone else, and that he would sacrifice absolutely everything to make it a reality, not matter the cost, because he truly believed that this would lead to a better future.
Instead, just like what in the end happened with Saotome, this all ended up blowing up completely in his face, as it was all for absolutely nothing. Not only did he not achieve his goals of stopping the getter emperor, but he sacrificed EVERYTHING in process. His mother, his friends, his friendships with Takuma and Baku, his morals, the very planet he wanted to secure so his people could have a future. Kamui has aboslutely nothing left but his life, hence why he innitially tells Takuma to piss off. He is a broken man with no hope for a better future. But one the of the enduring messages of Getter Robo, which we have explored through character like Ryoma, Hayato and even characters like Schwartz, is that even if you are a genuinly horrible person, that doesnt mean you cannot embrace your bonds with your fellow humans, and become better than what you are now. and frankly, if there is a character right now that is in need of a redemption arc, it has to be Kamui.
I will addmit though, that if we ever get a continuation that shows the events of this epilogue, i hope that the prison he's held in is a bit more impressive, because rushed or not, i have to say that the biggest criminal in the history the earth being this easy to break out seems more than a little silly :P
And as for the final battle taking place on mars, it was pretty blatant in shin that we would be exploring mars in some way or form, and that it was absolutely critical for the final development of the Getter Emperor(personally i always thought that the final battle would be Arc and Bug teaming up to prevent Dragon from making it's way over the red planet to finish it's transformation, but i was obviously wrong in that regard.).
Obviously this is just my interpretation, but the way i see it, like a regular Getter Robo requires 3 pilots, the Emperor requires 3 main components to form. The first thing it requires is the energy to power the entire thing, which it creates with Dragons. The second thing, and the thing it went through such massive lengths to get from humanity(wiping out the original dinosaur empire, kickstarting humanity's evolutionary progress, Probably wiping out the Atlantis civilization when they bypassed the need for getter ray technology, and helping humanity time and again against their enemies) is a pilot strong enough to pilot it, which it created in the form of Ryoma Nagare, who it has a tendency to absorb into itself across the various versions of getter, since he was the main purpose of EVERYTHING the getter set up with humanity and the Earth.
Ryoma visits a past where we get to see a previous cycle where the Dragon was indeed formed, but there doesnt seem to be a pilot, so the Dragon just roams the sky looking for someone with the will and power to take control over it's physical form, destroying absolutely everything on the doomed planet.
And finally, with the energy and the pilot, the only thing that remains is sheer mass to form the literal planet sized Emperor. Which the Getter is going to absorb from Mars itself, which the Getter just so happens to have gone through great difficulties to make sure was remade into something much, much more viable at the end of Go, when it also absorbed it's pilot Ryoma.
And lo and behold, the final showdown between the Arc trio, and "the enemy of all living things" just so happens to take place on mars.
I actually love the way that the end of Go hypes up the idea that if humans ever went to mars, they would find something truly "Amazing" but also that it was a possibility that it might be better if it never came to pass.
Now with the context of the epilogue, this is now a bit of brilliant meta commentary on Ken's part, because that "Amazing" that would be found on Mars, was the final battle of the entire manga continuity.
Also, i don't think that the arc team winning against the proto Emperor would mean a final ending to the cycle of the getter trying to build the emperor somewhere in the universe. Just the end of this particular cycle.

Very interesting read, far more in depth than I ever thought about, only thing I can really object to is that Mars is the place where Emperor gains its mass. I personally believe that it requires multiple planets since all the Emperor Ships seem planet sized so the Saint Dragon and Proto Emperor I see as re embedding themselves into the planets where instead of metamorphosis they absorb the planets to gain the mass however the 3rd ship doesn’t have a known equivalent Getter that undergoes Metamorphosis and Absorbtion. I initially thought it was Arc due to Emperor Jaguar having similar features to Arc mostly the back spikes. if anything that may have been the case once upon a time in the path the Getter took to become the Emperor but now with the knowledge Baku brought back and the Arc team seeing the future it they now will fight against it. Though Ancient Getter is part of the section of the Mandala where the 2 Emperor components are so that one may be the 3rd Emperor Ship with Tarak the Shin Getter shown leading the fleet shown in the future
Kamui's prison is indeed looking very plain, but I guess it makes sense too. Who would think anyone would try to rescue Kamui, of all people? If he was to break out by himself, where would he go? Those bars look like Kamui could bend them with bare hands, but the point is that he wouldn't want to. In the epilogue Kamui rightfully thinks he deserves to rot in cell, and initially refuses chance of salvation, I guess his confinement wouldn't be any different if there were no bars at all.
It kinda echoes Buddhist concept of hell. Hell is not a place, it's a condition. It's not about where you are, it's about how you feel.

미래를 바꾸려는 카무이의 행동이 미래로 이어지는 숙명.
그리스 비극에서는 인간들이 피할 수 없는 운명 앞에 살아갈 수밖에 없는 존재라는 것을 보여주지만, 겟타팀은 운명을 넘어서려 끝없는 싸움을 한다는게 그나마 희망적이네요 ㅋ
@@believeingetter744 일단 운명(?) 앞에 도망가거나 체념하지 않고 '저항'을 멈추지 않는 것은 엄청난 경지죠. 그렇기에 겟타 파일럿을 할 수 있는 거겠죠!

이시카와켄센세께선 아크를 겟타로보 사가의 완결만이 아닌 본인이 제작했던 모든 작품들의 완결푠으로 생각하고 집필하시고자 했다는 썰이 있었죠
융합 생명과 기계가 융합 하듯히 공룡제국과 인간의 융합도 충분히 센세께서 엄두해두셨을 방향중 하나가 아니었을까 싶기도 합니다.
다만 이런 요소들을 제쳐 두더라도
기대더 암했건 겟타로보 애미의 신작 거기에 원작의 존중이 제대로된 수박애미를 만난것으로도
팬으로선 너무 감격스럽지만 말이죠
사실 그가 남긴 말들로 미루어 보아 아크는 아크만의 결말로 마무리 하고 싶었을 겁니다..
어쨌든, 말씀하신거 처럼 아크 애니가 나온 것만으로도 너무 감사한 일이죠
더 무시무시하다고나 해야할까요 아니면 코스믹 호러라고 해야할까요... 원작에서 겟타 엠페러 본인이 말하긴 자신 조차도 겟타의 종착지 중 하나에 불과하다라고 했으니... 사실상 겟타 엠페러를 막기 위해 싸우는 아크도 겟타 엠페러와 동급의 또 다른 진화에 도달 할 가능성이 있다는 이야기죠. 설령 아크가 진 겟타와 다르게 파일럿을 따르는 모범생일지라도 결국 아크도 겟타이며 겟타선의 화신이니까...

겟타려면 내순서 아니라 아직멀었는데 슬프다
아무리생각해도 오리지널 로봇도 넣어놓고 버그 마지막전투 장면 스킵은 진짜 욕 뒤지게 먹어도 할말 없을 짓이었음
저도 스킵되서 약간 당황했어요.. 그 부분만이라도 어케 싸울까 궁금했는데
원작자가 죽었는데 그 다음 뭘 보여줄지도 모른다는 기대를 했지만

그냥 원조 겟타팀이 나오는게 제일 매력있고 재미있네요. 료마가 없는 겟타는. 김치없는 라면임. 특히. 작화가 너무 충격적일 정도로 떨어짐. 거의 20년 전에 나온 지구최후의날 진겟타 보다 못하다니
진마징가때도 그렇고 후일담은 슈로대에서...

타쿠마가 바꾸는 미래는 우주를 무지성 파괴하는 엠페러가 아니라, 자신을 절제할 줄 아는 존재인 아크가 엠페러처럼 지고의 존재가 될수도?
원래부터가 우주의 모든 생물이 신들이 '시천공'이라는 극악의 끝판왕을 죽이려고 만들어냈다는게 설정인걸 보면, 평행세계의 어떤 엠페러도 약간의 차이만 있을뿐. 결국은 본질은 같을겁니다. 즉 최대한 진화를 하려고 노력하면서 언젠가는 오고야 말 시천공과의 결전을 대비하는거죠.
