Sörenberg - Mooraculum Alpine Playground & Theme Trail (Switzerland)

- In October 2021, my boys and I drove to Sörenberg a mountain resort nestled in the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch, a protected nature reserve, to enjoy some time outdoors.
From the village of Sörenberg we took a cable to Rossweid, where we found Mooraculum, a great alpine playground and a nice theme trail called Sundew trail (Sonnentauweg). The main theme of both was moors/moorland, so we did not only have fun playing at the playground and walking the trail, but also learned a little bit about this unique landscape distinctive for this area of Switzerland.

Incredibly scenic indeed and I would have loved the cable car ride, magical views. Real fun park for the family to play in, it looked real exciting for a 2 year old. The sun view trail was just right for little legs too but not for bare feet lol. I also loved the snow covered mountains, amazing scenery, so perfect to hike there! Cheers Alan

Haha, my thoughts exactly. It looks more like medieval torture device. 😂 I agree, it is interesting Unesco also has this list of biospheres. It is like their world heritage list, but for natural reserves.

i've been skiing in sörenberg plenty of times, but i've never seen it without snow!

It looks a bit different, right. I've skied there too few times. It is nice little resort. I hope we could visit again this winter, but for sledding. I've heard they have great sled run. :) Thanks for watching.

Those barefoot trails are common on trails here in the Alps, but this is the first time I did it barefoot. It was cool experience. 😀

Oh yeah, kids love this place. It was a bit cold yes, but luckily our little one didn’t get wet. Other kids, did. I saw few parents drying clothes and shoes at the restaurant’s toilet hand- dryers. 🙈 It was pretty, right. Thanks for watching! 🤗

Looks like a super fun place for kids. Looks like a great way for a ski place to get some income when there's no snow. We are assuming it's a ski place in the winter by the gondolas you rode up in. We have a couple ski places near us that do some similar stuff to keep the money flowing in the off season. Good sport of you to do the barefoot trail actually barefoot. Glad you got your shoes back.
It is indeed fun place for kids. I’m adult and enjoyed the playground too. 😂 Yes, you’re right, in winter Sörenberg turn into ski resort. I’ve skied there few years ago and is really nice. I’ve heard they have a nice sled run too, so I hope we’ll be able to check it out this winter. Do you guys ski?
@@SlovenianGirlAbroad I used to be a pretty avid skier in my youth. Unfortunately, it's an insanely expensive activity here these days. Lift tickets for a family of 4 can easily top $400 for a single day, and be as much as $600+ on some of the more posh mountains. Add in costs for equipment, and then need time to teach the children how to ski... ugh. It's pretty much why we hike all winter. Plus, certain mountain trails can be glissaded, or we can carry special small sleds up with us to slide down on. Much more economical, and less people around.
@@northeastfamilyadventures9186 Uf. I was aware skiing in the US is expensive, but had no idea it is that expensive. Crazy. Switzerland is quite expensive to ski too, but is still affordable in comparison with the US. Day ticket at this resort is 54chf (=58usd). Kid’s tickets are discounted and they can ski for free if they are younger than 6. It’s still expensive, but you don’t have to sell your kidney to afford skiing here. 😀

Wonderful Hike, the water park is great, and being able to lay down and hear the Wilderness ....or wispers of distant peoples. Is cool and not sure I cool sustain it . Might be too loud since I have sensitive hearing . Thanks for sharing such beautiful place, and lovely Adventure.

I used to hike a lot more. We were hiking almost every weekend, but when the little one doesn’t want to be carried for a longer period anymore, we hike a bit less. Once every few weeks (depending on the weather). Thanks!
