  • In April of 2024, we interviewed Luke Mayville, co-founder of the grassroots organization ReClaim Idaho. In this clip, we hear Luke talk about the "courage" of ReClaim volunteers to do difficult things (like knock on doors to discuss political reform) and potentially make “monumental” impacts. We also met two important members of the non-partisan coalition he’s helped bring together.
Margaret Kinzel of Mormon Women for Ethical Government, or MWEG, went door-to-door to gather signatures, and later laughed about it being a good growth opportunity for her (she admitted that she was “always the one that would walk politely past the person trying to gather signatures” and say ”no thank you”).
Retired Attorney General and former Idaho Supreme Court Chief Justice, Jim Jones, is another important coalition leader. Jim addressed volunteers on the final day of signature gathering, sharing a laugh before explaining that he and fellow Republicans, who disagree on many things, agree that “everybody, regardless of their political persuasion, should have the right to select their public officials who represent them in the legislature.”
Luke, Margaret, and Jim, share much more (including how and why they all came together to work on these ballot initiatives) in our full podcast episode, now available on UA-cam or wherever you get your podcasts.
We encourage you to watch, like, comment, and share, and additionally check out more election reform updates as we get closer to fall elections.
