WEEKEND WOGAN 10th ANNIVERSARY SERIES - Show 20/35
12.51pm, live on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, 1 August 2010… the Louis Armstrong classic, ‘We Have All The Time In The World’, preceded by ‘Happy Birthday To Terry’! 😁
This weekend, we celebrated Sir Terry Wogan’s 72nd birthday by surprising him, live on air, with the traditional ‘Happy Birthday’ song. You can see the look of surprise/embarrassment/horror!!! (call it what you will 🤣) on his face and I’ve made out that at the end of it, you can see him mouth to the band, “You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!” Hahahaha!!! 😂
We immediately launch into 'We Have All The Time In The World’, written by John Barry and Hal David for the James Bond film, ‘On Her Majesty's Secret Service’ and originally recorded by Louis Armstrong. In case you didn’t know, the lyric was written ironically; we DON’T have all the time in the world, and the irony of performing this song, straight after celebrating Terry’s birthday, is not lost on me. We lost dear Terry a mere five and a half years later.
Only the good die young. ❤️

Terry's special guests this week were Richard Wilson, Marti Pellow and Paloma Faith.

Lyrics:
We have all the time in the world
Time enough for life
To unfold all the precious things
Love has in store.
We have all the love in the world
If that's all we have
You will find
We need nothing more.
Every step of the way will find us
With the cares of the world far behind us, yes
We have all the time in the world
Just for love
Nothing more, nothing less
Only love.
Instrumental (trumpet)
Every step of the way will find us
With the cares of the world far behind us, yes
We have all the time in the world
Just for love
Nothing more, nothing less
Only love
Instrumental
ONLY LOVE...❤
Greetings from Gouda, The Netherlands
Probably the least known of all John Barry s Bond theme songs. Lyrics by Hal David. According to John Barry “ Louie Armstrong was to I’ll to play his trumpet but had just enough strength to do the vocals”. The song was “ too heavy” to use in the opening credits forcOHMSS but was used in the middle of the film as a montage with George Lazenby and Dianna Rigg. A heartbreakingly beautiful song and a great cover.
Other than the original, this is the best version, I have ever heard to date.

Great soothing song. Only regrets Sean Connery never made it to hear this.
He was alive then. He also wasn't in that Bond film mate ;)

There are some songs that are owned by one person, in this case John Barry and Satchmo, Louis Armstrong, two legends.
But this cover has borrowed ATTITW with great beauty, excellent phrasing and feeling.
John Barry may not technically be a knight of UK but to many admirers he deserves to be called Sir John.
I hereby dub thee
Sir John, knight of the One and Only Majesty of Everything
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Also
Sir Louis!
Arise, Sir Knights!
