As Brazilian, I can't express how proud I am at Wagner Moura's voice acting to Death. He nailed it and made one of the scariest yet best villains ever. I went to the movies twice cus I've watched in Portuguese first, then came back to watch it in the original after I saw his name in the credits. I swear, I regret watching it for the first time in my native language because of it.
I mean, taking on account how Puss unalived the first 8 times, it's no wonder Death had enough and was angry. Had them been heroic, maybe Wolf wouldn't have bothered.
Oh my god, I've been following this channel for a while now and just wanted to say that I appreciate knowing someone else who has difficulty dealing with thanatophobia. It's something i've been struggling with/having anxiety attacks about for as long as i can remember. It sucks a lot, but it's always more comforting to know that you're not alone. All my love to you
You’re definitely not alone. I also struggle with it and I think it’s a more common phobia than people realize, it’s just not talked about as often. All I can say is take one day at a time and know there are others who feel as you do.
5:19 me and my sister and nephew surmised he was death at this moment too. My nephew even noting his scythes as a symbol of the grim reaper. We loved it just the same. My sister and nephew understood Wagner Moura and Antonio Banderas’ Spanish so I kept asking them to translate. Selma Hayek was tough for them though. Latin American Spanish I think may be more challenging than Castilian. Gorgeous movie though.
Rizzo and Benji-I’m so sorry I can no longer be a patron (due to my current financial situation), but please know I still love you guys and hope it’s okay if I support you this way! On this film’s note: I love Perrito and think this film’s portrayal of a panic attack was so beautiful!

Rizzo! You broke my heart and also as someone who is so passionate about animated movies as well I’m glad for the rant at the beginning 😂 excellent video once again boys 💚
Thank you so much! Yes, I saw Puss in Boots 1 in theaters and LOVED IT only to discover most people had written it off as another bland spinoff before even watching it. Their loss. I was able to enjoy a surprisingly funny adventure film that did a wonderful job playing within the established Lore of Shrek!
I’ve seen many reaction videos to this film as a way to cope with the fact that I can’t easily rewatch it as it’s still not available on streaming or home media in the UK I have to say that this video is easily my favourite one. Your reactions were consistently funny but were also honestly so precious and heartwarming. Keep up the good work and I’ll definitely check out the rest of your channel
26:30 I think that word (and the name Thanos) comes from the greek God of Death Thanatos - as opposed to Hades who is the God of the Dead and King of the Underworld, Thanatos is the God who brings death to mortals and then takes their spirits to the underworld (shares the job with Hermes the messenger god who has three or four part-time jobs and sometimes helps out with bringing the dead over).
yes, hades rules over the land of the dead but he's not super concerned with the souls of the dead?? if that makes sense? he's king of all riches that come from underground as well. he's more associated with the realm of death. thanatos is more of a personification of death and dying. he is specifically the god of nonviolent death, which i thought was kind of interesting. one of his epithets is 'paean' meaning healer, where we get the word 'panacea.' hermes is considered a psychopomp, a figure who is able to cross liminal spaces and guide others through them.
@@ma-ri-ko I think Hades's job as king is to make sure that everything runs smoothly (ie souls go where they're supposed to, Cerberus is doing his job of keeping the dead in and the living out, etc) but he doesn't get involved with the sentencing of souls himself (I think there are three judges who decide that) unless the person who's just died has done something to upset or offend him personally.
So happy you guys are reviewing this movie! This was one of my favourite movies of 2022! (along with Glass Onion and Bullet Train) Edit: You didn't watch the last scene with the Shreak tease!
Omg, I also have Thanatophobia. I have panick attacks because of that every single night, and have never met anyone who suffers because of that like I do. We are in this together, Rizzo.
I don't know if this helps at all, but may I recommend a UA-cam channel "Ask a mortician". It's a channel talking about everything related to death customs and funeral stuff (that I myself find super interesting). It has made me feel more in peace with all that, maybe knowing more about death (or at least some aspects of it) makes it less scary and easier to deal with. And I find the mortician Caitlin who runs this channel to be very funny and still respectful at the same time.
as somebody who grew up with such a fear of death that left me with severe separation anxiety regarding my parents that i still struggle with into adulthood (though to a much lesser extent now) i found this movie really meaningful, while i still selfishly wanted puss to wish for more lives i was able to realise and accept even if bittersweetly that you can't just wish for more lives and loss and death are inevitable realities but that it shouldn't rule our lives, like I'm so glad i saw it in cinemas it was so special and beyond just the great quality of the film, it balanced emotion and tone really well for me

I struggle with thanatophobia as well as apierophobia (the fear of eternity or existing after death) if I start thinking about my own death or whatever lies after death (if there is anything) I get very panicked and have to direct my mind to other things or I know it will spiral into a full blown panic attack. It’s a hard fear to have because unlike some phobias, death is inevitable.
