DIY Wine Bottle Bird Feeder
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- Welcome back to another episode of Withjack Workshops! Today I'm going to be showing you how to make a gravity fed self-filling bird feeder from an empty wine bottle. For this you will just need about 4 feet of pressure treated 1x6 deck boards, an empty wine bottle, and a free weekend.
Here's the link for the glass cutter I used: goo.gl/jlQ9ZT
It's placed in a small jig I made for scoring bottles. It's effective about 75% of the time, other times the bottle slips or the score isn't perfect and the glass doesn't part well. They are easy to make, just take your time and watch for sharp glass pieces! After you score the glass, place it under cold water, and then hit it with boiling water. Do this back and forth a few times and the bottle will split along the score line. It sometimes takes a few tries to get right, just keep trying!

Withjack Workshops is a series of DIY videos showcasing fun and easy projects ranging anywhere from woodworking, restoration, and electronics of all kinds. The projects run the spectrum of easy to difficult, needing certain tools to accomplish but still easily completed by yourself. This particular video is a part of the series where I'm creating items for my Etsy shop to be sold online or just for the heck of it to try my hand at creating something new for the enjoyment of making, in which I can only hope it inspires you to make something yourself. I have a problem with the title. It says DIY and never in a million years could I do that. What an artist.Thats amazing to me.
Brilliant easy design and simple to make, also appealing to the eye. Thank you. Natures Homes.
Good job on this...dont sweat the comments on your shop.
If they were any type of woodworker; even hobbies they would have these tools...basic stuff.
Great idea...i will practice this one.
Thanks!
This guy's just showing off all the kit he has!
All I can say is, WOW. Skill, precision and beauty!
thanks!
wondeful! you have got all your toys to make that feeder.
Fantastic. I would recommend it is placed under roof out of rainwater as moldy seeds are not good for birds....love this project
A wonder to behold a craftsman at work!
Well done! You are very talented.
GREAT project. I have to say I like the Cardinal at the end. Nice touch, it's good to know the birds will like it.
thank you!

Hello Brett Withjack,
first of all, it's a long time ago i really had to write in english so i might be out of training :)
I just finished my own Birdfeeder made by your Instruction but i changed one thing in order to make it easier to clean the feeding place: Instead of crafting a wooden feeding dish (as in 2:39), i just crafted another wooden "Ring" (like the one in 4:38 for example) and inserted a plastic pot saucer. Another saucer could be used as the "roof" of the bottle. The big advantage is that you can just put that saucer out of the wooden holder an clean it.
Those to saucers were also the only things i had to buy for ~50€cent.
Thanks Marco! Your English is great. Sounds like you made some awesome improvements. I might have to try that out next time I make another one.
@@Bretts_Builds Thanks!
I also uploaded some Pictures of my Version of the Birdfeeder. This might help to clarify what exactly I meant:

Well done , I'm pretty sure is so well done that u not need a fake cardinal, if u hang up outside , in less than 30 min the real birds come to eat in ur beautiful bird feeder, Good work , thanks for share
Мужик --педант. Сколько инструмента применил.Офигеть ,это для кормушки птичкам.
Looks great! Nice job on the wood too.
WD40 is great for getting glue and labels off glass.
Great tools to work with your very lucky you know how to operate them and safely. I'm sure it's very rewarding. Great job !!!
What a hell of equipment this blondy has. I think it would be cheaper for me to just buy the feeder though what a nice job he's very good
This looks like my next project in the garden. Thanks for sharing.
Going to buy a workshop with all those machines in order to make a bird feeder :D
Interesting to watch, some good simple tricks there!
Jajajajaa me two jajajaja
very nice complete set of tools
110% True craftsman !
I do not have the attention span to carry out on a project long. I used to I used to build intricate 124th scale car models with spark plug wires and everything at 55 I just don't have it anymore.
Nice project! Another option to filling the hole in the plug is to use that hole to insert a threaded wooden cabinet knob.
Hey thanks Rob, that's an awesome idea. I'm definitely doing that on my next bird feeder.
Знатная кормушка получилась. Особенно порадовала демонстрация её применения.)
I don't care about the feeder I want your workshop, cool setup with all the tool to make anything you want
Shut up
Very nice job! You may want to re-think the top on the bottle. The squirrels will take that off. May be a 2-1/2" sewer drain plug? It can be tighten up at the top. Walmart or Ace should have them.
I'm ok with squirrels, they gotta eat too haha
Your neighborhood squirrel will LOVE that easy off top. Otherwise, lovely.
Just a quick simple little project---I call them 5 minute jobs!! Really cute tho- something I could give my son to work on. He loves working with wood.
Very nice....sound affects cool...no rambling talk....
Cool set up
Te luciste amigo, quedó hermoso!! Saludos
FANTASTIC work
Well impressed with the video I’m just gonna pop out to get a few hundred pounds worth of tools and find a workshop to make this in😂😂
brilliant idea for self filling... do you think this would work with dog or cat food?
Good idea. I Might put a knob handle through drill hole on top instead of filling in with sawdust plug.
Wow! DIY? No way, not me, but very cool video. I was thinking more MacGuyver. A wine bottle, a coat hanger and a dish. This is more like Bob Vila! :)))
Fácil y con herramientas que cualquier persona tiene en su casa. Genial!
wow dude so much materials but it's worthy
This is definitely not a DIY but an industry level video! -_-
Lol...that’s one happy shiny cardinal !!!
Bald Eagles just love millet, I have them at my feeders all the time!😂
Nice bird feeder thanks for sharing
Thanks!
best diy bird feeder ever
best comment ever
Very nice project, I am going to build something very similar. One suggstion: One could add a slight overhang to the lid for a bit more protection from the elements. This comes with the disadvantage, that you can't use the cutoff from the holesaw.
Nice work
Your job is very Nice

Lovely idea, sadly not all of us have a workshop with all those machines to help make one lol However it was great to watch the process
I like your video and I have an empty wine bottle and tea kettle... even water, So i guess now I have to go buy a glass cutter, build a jig to hold the glass cutter and the bottle. Then buy saw to do rip cuts and a planer and a sander,,,,, a table saw and miter saw,,, :) lol 500 dollars easy for a 5 dollar bird feeder at Wal Mart lol
very cool fella nice job
Olá sou do Brasil... seu trabalho ficou bem feito parabéns que capricho.
This a great service to the co owners of this planet earth
Does it have to be glass birds will peack that exsp big birds and swallow glass splinters
@@Ian-xl2xf can be whatever you’d like. I had no issues with them pecking but I’m guessing weaker glass might have that effect
