I Made the PRETTIEST Dress for Under $40 | DIY, sewing

- In this video, I show you a dress I made last year for about $40 using coral colored tulle fabric I sourced from LA Fashion District for $0.49 a yard, and poly satin as the lining that I got for $28.99/10 yards. It has detachable sleeves and a full circle skirt. The bodice is pleated and criss-cross with a pointy sweetheart neckline and a zipper closure in the back.

Sort of reminds of simplicity #S9577 elf costume with the removable sleeves. I would Love to make one day with a corset back! ✂️ Tulle is magical
Oh yes a corset back would be lovely!! I tend to prefer that over zippers (and for the size flexibility) but back when I originally made the design I guess I was just feeling a zipper but I’m with you on that one!
I have so many ideas I haven’t been able to share yet but are coming soon with more corset style bodices and more tulle 😍 I wish I could work faster! Haha
This is so beautiful! How do you get the tulle pleats to stay so perfect? When I've done them, they always seem to unroll themselves in the middle, even though I've steamed/ironed them during the process. If i try tacking them down hiding in the pleats with invisble thread it ends up showing little dots all over. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Aw thank you!! And I think it’s the tulle type. I’m not sure what type it is because the place that sold it was not formal or organized at all and there were no labels. It kinda reminds me of mesh but looks like tulle. It drapes very well unlike the tulle you’d typically find in bolts online that are stiffer. I wish I knew what kind it was! I’m self taught so there’s still so much to learn about fabric. 😫

Thank you! I originally made the pattern for another dress I’ve done but am not able to make it user friendly at this time. But I’ll probably remake the original dress video too!

I don’t know if it had a name or what but it had a huge sign that said 49c fabric, or something like that and there was a section of fabrics. Really informal and kinda messy haha
