- Jack Wild and Arthur English star in this sitcom style schools programme, all about maths. This episode was made in 1978. Continuity includes Follows Shortly Slide and BBC 1 Dots Countdown Clock. From my own personal collection of video tapes. Uploaded purely for educational purposes.
How much fun would it be sharing with Arthur English and Jack Wild.
I love watching these. So many memories of the tv on legs in the Library, the smell of new carpet ( they must have had new carpet fitted regularly!! ).....and watching this and Look & Read,Words & Pictures,Watch etc.....
Because of what the onslaught of time and substance abuse did to him, it's always a treat seeing Jack as his very handsome authentic self before those things occurred, acting so well like he always does. If only time could've stopped still here, sigh. But there is another place where it does, and I know my man Jack is his young, fresh, youthful self there, free of addiction and entertaining those around him. Love you Jack, and will meet you one day.
I watch all these episodes, it’s a missed opertunity this was not being later developed, as it was rumoured to have been thought of developing into a mainstream sitcom
I actually find these entertaining and so funny, and I despise maths!!!
Same here 😅
12:22 That gesture reminds me when in the movie "melody" the teacher answers "Onshaw" (Jack Wild): "This is a history class, not 20 questions" and "Onshaw" makes that gesture. LOL
This takes me right back to my childhood…even just the Beeb graphics before it starts 😌
Should have been a sitcom, little more development and these characters would have made something as memorable as only fools, or minder .
Yeah, i agree! I started to wonder if he was ever offered the role of Rodney in Only fools and horses. He would have been a great Rodney (even if i love Nick as Rodney).

@@scottjspence70 nice to see you too :)
Random, Jack Wild and my mum were in the same nursery school class, I think my Grandparents knew some of his relatives.
👍
@markorolla That's so nice to hear. Regards to your mum. Do you know if any of your relatives are still in touch with any of his?
@@maxim1-h4e none these days.
This is 'proper' as Arthur English would say, it would have made a good general TV series.
Just discovered this British sitcom starring Jack Wild. If only his series lasted for a 2nd season,
I was hoping that Ron Moody and Mark Lester from "OLIVER" would do guest roles on the show.
This seems pretty good!
James Harris at elliot school Putney told me that he was forced to watch this in he's maths class in 1977
Guess how old jack wild is in this vid. Guess guess guess
What did you guess? 15? 18? He was 26. Perhaps 25 when this was filmed but 26 by the time this aired
When I was 26, I also looked like I was 16, I wonder if Jack Wild ever had Kallmann Syndrome?
@@davidbaldwin8390 He didn't have Kallmann syndrome because Jack was able to smell. And unlike people with Kallmann syndrome, Jack was not tall for his age but short. It is true that most people with Kallmann's have delayed or diminished puberty. I think the problem with Jack was that he was a late bloomer but got heavily into alcohol during his growth spurt around seventeen and eighteen, leaving him looking stunted for the next couple of decades
(Sorry for such a long comment. I get really passionate about conditions!)
@@AutisticChristian he was older than that!, 28, defiinitely didnt look like it, as ive mentioned in my comment on the video above he was in the same class as my mum at nursery school, she was born a bit before Jack, April 1952, so would have been 28 when this aired too. i dont know what it is about people in those days and earlier, saw a pic of my mum and dad once, i thought they were early 20's at the earliest, they were 16 and 17 lol.

Jack may have also didnt have a healthful diet, because of his heavy drinking; malnourishment can stunt growth. He looks as if he had had dental work in these videos. I don't like how it looks and prefer his old looks.
@@TheDarkDresser Really? What's the difference with his teeth?
ive only just noticed that i'm with stupid t shirt...
Mike’s outfits in the BBC maths series deserve an Oscar
Yeah i hated maths as well but i find this very interesting i think having jack wild in it has something to do with it ❤❤ r i p jack ❤
