In the mid-90s, I was taken captive into Jane Austen's world by BBC's "Pride and Prejudice" starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. I was surprised to discover Jennifer was an American and from the south no less! I watched it countless times when it was first released. I hooked my best friend and sister on it. We are in an ice lockdown here in Tulsa. Day four will be tomorrow, so Mr. Darcy, here I come! I love this video by the way! 🥰😍🌹

Aww, hope the ice lockdown has passed safely! I love that version as well, I don't think I realized Jennifer was American, she does such an amazing job as Lizzie. 🙌

Patty- I wore empire waist dresses in high school back in the 60s. It was the first dress that I made myself. By the time I graduated, I had quite a few dresses. I have a dip pen and a calligraphy pen with nibs. I just started getting back to it. I love writing letters.

Oh! An online bonnet (or maybe hat) decorating party! That would be fun. (I know you didn't mention it, I am feeding you the idea :) ) This is such a charming video, perfect way to start February, so many lovely ideas for the month. I will definitely be making recipes this month, I am hoping to find some baking recipes. Poetry for sure, whether or not I am able to get to a novel. Painting - I seem to recall seeing people painting on an easel set up in fields in movies...I cannot say WHICH movie at all, just something I recall. Maybe we will save the painting fields for Spring.

Haha, an online bonnet decorating party would be so fun! That is one thing I have not purchased yet, a Regency style hat. 🤔💸😂 I think they're often painting in pretty places in Emma adaptations, that would be a lovely spring pastime!

Early American is a great channel! Ron & Justine have a 2nd channel called Frontier Patriot where they eat and review the “receipts” that they make on Early American. It’s fun to see their reactions and hear their thoughts about these historic dishes. Some are good, and some . . . not so good. LOL!

Oh Emma, even your name is blessed by Jane. I love your video. I belonged to a regency society group in Virginia. We dressed, and I mean dressed for everything! And the seamstresses in this group are so talented. One even learned how to make hats and she sells them far and wide. Shocking Bad Hats. We had teas, had dancing, went to historical houses and we even had a duel! I miss it so much. I've even been to regency ladies retreats in historic houses and had a lady who works at Colonial Williamsburg cook a meal of real beef and vegetables they raise there. It was the best! I even went to England with them and stayed in a historical house in Bath! I want to go back there. I think that all these activities bring so much to the experience. I'd love to have that cookbook!

I just found your video's I'm sorry so late to ask questions, but I hope it's ok. In the title it say's (in Everyday Modern Life). Does that mean that you live this way always? And you also keep saying (Regency)? So does this refer to a time period? Also Regency Ear starter kit? I have always enjoyed Jane Austen but this is the first time coming across anything like this. I really enjoyed your video and would love to learn so much more Thank you and would love anything you can information or suggestions 🤗

I’m rather intrigued by the idea of purposefully living more like people did in the past as I think it’s probably healthy to unplug and to plug into the past when life was simpler and people were much more connected and cared more about each other. My personal interest is a bit more the renaissance than regenc/American colonial style, but I think a lot of it winds up being similar even if the aesthetics are somewhat different.
