Im 12. This is my review on this. At the beginning I was finding it very difficult, but I got a hang of it. Yes, there were some parts I stuffed up, but it's the fact I tried. If Im 12 and I can do it, then Im sure everyone else can 😉
I've been crocheting since I was 12. The first project I tried to make was a sweater for my cat lol That went SO well. I couldn't even remember how to do a single crochet and I wasn't using a pattern.
I learned when I was nine too, did an entire queen size afghan... one side is super tight so it flares out haha, but its my first and its warm and my cats dont judge it ;) crocheters unite!!
I made this hood in dark oranges and browns for a foxy feel. I love it and it's gotten so many compliments! Can't wait to make the fingerless paw gloves to match!
Okay, the pattern is awesome, but it also happens to have the best tutorial for how to do a chainless foundation crochet stitch I have seen yet. So many hookers who have explained it or uploaded videos for it either don't explain it well or fly through it much faster. This shows very clearly how to do it, which is super freaking awesome!
I have gone back to your video SO many times to re-learn your foundation double crochet technique. I don't crochet this technique that often so I forget, but when I need it, it has saved my project time and time again. It's brilliant!! Thank you so much for sharing it!! xo
I absolutely love this tutorial!! I’ve made 4 hoods different sizes and colours. my 2 daughters love wearing their hoods! Thank you for the easy to follow tutorial
I made this entire pattern in a 10 mm and 8 mm hook. Came put absolutely gorgeous. Will add a picture to ur instagram when it's 100 percent done. Thanks for such a great pattern.
I made it! I know everyone will have a different experience, I just wanted to give my insight. I thoroughly enjoyed working this pattern, and will likely go back to it in the future. Your teaching style is incredible! I made this as a late Christmas gift for a friend, and for a long time knitter new to crochet it turned out better than I would have ever expected. I'll admit I got frustrated right off the bat with the foundation double crochet stitches FDC. I understood the reasoning behind it, but all I succeeded in doing was making a big knot that I couldn't make heads or tails of, and no matter how many times I rewound the video to figure out where those two strands were to insert my needle into next, I just didn't see what everyone else saw. I even looked at other tutorials, but no luck there either. I found my solution when I came across a tutorial to make a triple treble crochet stitch TTR. The way it was done looked almost identical to the FDC, and the 'posts' were perfect for doing the front and back post stitches and it turned out beautifully. I was afraid that it wouldn't be stretchy enough so I made 45 chains instead of the normal 40 that the pattern called for and it more than sufficed for the length and elasticity that I was going for. Sadly I didn't have enough of the Dallas gray to do the alternating rows, but had just enough (literally down to a few inches) for the last two rows, but found that my Washington Denim looked great for the color alternation. I tried to be as accurate to the pattern as possible, but my opinion of the Windsor home spun yarn was that it was TERRIBLE on that large gauge. It was like working with carpet fibers, and trying to HDC into each stitch was ever more cumbersome. I didn't have enough of each color left to make the tassels, so I thought after the nightmare I had with the home spun Windsor, and being that I had a ton of it left I would use it and make them. It was impossible. Once I was able to measure out the desired length, the problem was keeping them all together. They kept getting tangled and knotted up, so I went back to the Washington Denim I had left and measured out 2 arms width lengths and made a single crochet chain similar to the chain made to lace up the back of the hood, but with double the ply because I folded it in half. I tied those babies on the first front post, cut them to make them even, and attached a couple of pompoms to the ends, and it looked great! The ears looked amazing! I've knit ears many times, but I've never crocheted ears before. I think for projects in the future I'll be crocheting them from now on. Much easier. Overall this pattern was a delight, and with your teaching style, I was never too lost, and that made this pattern easy and fun to follow along with. Everyone will have a different experience, and this was mine. Great job Nadia! (YARNutopia)
BLESS YOUR KIND SOUL!!!!! I can't tell you how thankful i am for finding this!!! I've seen this hood years back and tried to find a way to make it b/c my family and i aren't blessed with money to buy the ones that were selling for $99.35 (+$33.84), $60, and going only down to $40 (+$3-7). But everywhere i had looked then was only for sell. I've tried explaining and showing my grandmother (an expert crochet create) and tried asking her to make it for me, but she couldn't understand it or what was going on with it. HOWEVER!! Now i can make one for myself, the colors that please me, AND size of the hood!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!! my inner girl is squeeing with excitement to finally make it P.S. reading the comments already left it is understandable that you are getting payed for this but that allows you to afford more supplies to share more tutorial designs and yourself to feed, no hate here just very thankful to finally find this tutorial
Even though it's not the "meat and potatoes" of this tutorial....... This is the best foundation double crochet tutorial I have ever seen! Fabulous! Thank you so much!
Y'all talented af. I came here because of "Cheshire" and stayed because it's relaxing. Then I saw the comments and how much people are accomplishing. My goodness you guys are amazing
I have taught (made my boys crotchet Christmas presents for their grandmother's) my children to sew and crotchet, however, my daughter is just not catching on. This design and the size of the hook is something she will absolutely want to do and be able to work with. Thank you very much for sharing!!!!
Im just cooming back to crocheting after more than 30 years, and this is on my top to do list... your instruction is perfect ...your detail of explanation is spot on ... Thank you for your patience and of course for sharing...
Oh thankyou so much for this tut!! I've been MAD for this pattern by another girl for a couple of years. She only sells the finished garments but I cannot afford them or I would SOOOO buy them. They are amazing. But now I feel my life is complete .. Well my crochet life ... I can now make my very own cat eared hooded cowl!! I'm going to do a black & grey scale one that will go with anything. Very good for the 0 degree morning walks!! Thankyou soooo much. Now .. Just need to buy/find the yarn in my country :) Thankyou Thankyou , for your efforts, and for giving this to us for free. As a crafter I know this can be a big decision ;) I think it will only make your work more popular. When I DO finally make it I will be sure to post a comment & also link back to here when I post it on social media✨🙌🏽✨😁💐
I love this pattern and plan to make it for my niece. Also, you have given the best version of the foundation double crochet chain I've ever seen. Your instructions are easy to follow and I'm glad you take your time to explain things clearly. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Nadia , I save this tut for my go to gift giving for fall or winter, I’m making my 3rd right now,I used a black and white theme with soft pink for ears for a french dog mom, one in fall colors for my friend and this one for my niece in law, I’m still enjoying this pattern so much, thank you 😊 stay well and blessed for this free tut,
This is such a great video! I just love this hat and so does my daughter. The nice thing about this hat (aside from its cuteness) is that it not only fits me but my 6 year old daughter looks adorable in it as well! :) YARNtopia by Nadia made it so easy to follow along with this video. She was so clear, detailed and went at a steady pace while explaining and showing how to make this hat. I've watched many crochet videos and Nadia's video is the only one that I've personally run across that is the best. Thanks for sharing your great work Nadia! My hat turned out perfect! :)
Thank you for another fantastic tutorial. I'm a big fan from the UK. I am planning to make this in the new year. For any fellow Brits out there, I am using King Cole Big Value Super Chunky; shade 24 Grey 100g x 2, king Cole Big Value Super Chunky Twist; shade 2250 Blue Twist 100g x1, Cygnet Bumper Bouclé; shade 2270 Frisee 100g x1, and a generic chenille super chunky single strand "milk" yarn on order from China. I will also use a 15mm crochet hook which is a lot smaller than the one in the video so I anticipate doing more stitches per row. I wish they sold the original yarns here in the UK! In the past I have ordered red heart from the US but I got burned with an £8 tax charge on top of the nearly £30 price, so won't be doing that again! I will keep you posted on the outcome. Xx
Thank you so much for the video. I had seen pictures of your cheshire cat hoodie before, and had done my hoodie before, but now I saw the video, and I don't know if I am more grateful for the tutorial or the double crochett with the chain stitch. I will take this tip to my life. Thank you.
it's a 15.75mm hook. My soon-to-be boyfriend bought me the three hook set like what you have and I saw the sizes on the front. hope this helps everyone.
Allie Perron They’s hookin’ up - he’s bae, he’s into her too - but it’s not yet the “boyfriend title” phase of the operation 💜💑💙 👊👈 👰🏼🚫⏰🚫🤵🏻 (Hope that helps lol)
you werent kidding about the fur being awesome. I made one for my daughter in yellows n oranges and I edged the front with the fur as well... I love it,she loves it :) Almost finished , just have to stitch ears on and I will post pics and tag you. I love all your ideas and you teach very well :)
So easy and cool! I used a 10mm hook and a thinner yarn so I ended up stitching up 60 instead of 40 at the start. Just up to the step of tying up the back, really hoping I can figure the last steps out since Im struggling to find what stitches Im meant to lace into, but such a great tutorial. I find it too hard to follow written patterns so video tutorials like this are AMAZING. Thank you
thank you so very much for making this cause the girl who made the first one was not replying to anyone on how to make them and she was no longer making them so once again i thank you
This is awesome. My granddaughter loves cats and unicorns. I was just surfing and some how got to your Ravelry page and saw some of your awesome projects. My granddaughter was sitting with me and half the things she wanted till she saw this and said Nana I have to have that, please please make it for me. So I am working on it in her purple color. LOL
I love this tutorial, I made a purple and pink one for myself! My daughter loved it and wanted one in green so I made her one too. I modified the pattern to make my daughter's an infinity scarf/cowl by working the pattern in rounds, laying it flat and lacing up the back partially. She's in love with it!
I just bought the same crochet needle and it is a US Q/15.75 mm size hook to be exact. I purchased it from a local Joann's sewing and craft store. You can also order on line from Joann's if you do not have a local store near you. Also try Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and A.C. Moore Craft stores too. Most of these store are on line as well.
You are such an artist, and have took this craft to a whole new level with this pattern! The color combo's are gorgeous! I think I'm going to be this for Halloween this year. 😁
Awesome tutorial. I made one for my daughter this weekend and my tension must have been pretty loose cause it's pretty big on her. No biggie..we just folded the edge over a bit and put the ears on the inside (that will be facing out when folded over). Love the tutorial!
Love this tutorial many thanks to you Nadia. Right now making my Cheshire cat hoodie but with darker colors... Your crochet hook is Q 15.75 mm. TIP: Get a sharpie and write it on the crochet hook so you don't forget it in the future.. Not all crochet hook are alike: However Clover crochet hook is P/Q 15.mm alot smaller than the crochet hook you are using for this cat hoodie.
i love how you explain how to do things. im still a beginner. and with the way you make your videos and how you do your walk trough i feel as if i can make this hat.( im going to try)
Thank you so much for putting up this wonderful tutorial. I am just putting the finishing touches to the my first hood I have made from your instructions. Stupidly I thought the hood looked to short so doubled the chain...I won’t do that again it’s now huge but still looks ok and my niece loves it regardless. I doubled chunky yarn which I will never do again it was a nightmare so I’m using extra chunky for that next one. Thanks again so much! I will follow your Chanel avidly.
Wow! You took something cool and made it spectacular! I’m making this to gift the young ones in my life. Just one lil thing, you don’t mention anywhere here that you have a kit for sale to make this awesome hood! I bet people would love to get it, especially if they live outside of the USA, as it get a lil tricky trying to get similar yarns in different locations. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and keep on giving the world beauty and sweetness.
Ur crazy if u think these yarns art widely available . They're everywhere. Bernat yarn is popular world wide. I'm in Canada and have tons of it myself. I made the entire pattern in it. I know of it being in south Africa. Asia. The UK and Australia. It's widely available.
I Must say I have never crocheted before and my daughter saw your costume online and fell in love and wanted this hat. Your tutorial was easy to follow and even though mine did not come out perfect and I need to practice more it was very easy to follow! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us I will post a photo of hers soon =D I have to make another one for her friend they are both dressing up as 2 versions of the Cheshire cat for Halloween =D
Wow! I am so loving your cat hood! I love cats and this is awesome. Thank you, and your dad, for sharing your pattern and such great video instructions.
I LOVE this hoodie, might be making for a co-worker's sister who was in a bad accident, and loves Cheshire kitty. I normally work with a G hook, so this is going to be a bit difficult for me. I've tried big hooks like this one, but so awkward for me. Thank you for the freebie!!
i shared this video and ended up with 4 orders for the hat and that doesn't include the 3 im already going to do this week. Your video is so well done and instructions are perfect and easy to understand
I got the same 3 pack I think. My hook that size is P 16-11.5mm. The larger plastic hook is Q 16-16.00mm. The smaller one was aluminum size L /11-8.00mm.
I tried making this but had different yarn to work with so it came out a bit different and I didnt add the braid tassels in the front but it still came out super cute!. Hoping I can put up some pics of it on pinterest sometime soon.
I absolutely love this video! I have started this fabulous project. I tend to be a tight crocheter, my hoodie seem to be smaller than yours. What is the length of this hoodie before sewing up the back? Mine is 27 inches.
I love this, your written pattern doesn't have measurements. I don't have a 8mm hook and I wanted to use 4g. Yarn and was wondering the dimensions so that I can make it look as close to yours that I can.
Thank you for sharing this! But as I live in France and we have a different sizing system of hooks and yarns, my work is not so like yours. So for those in France, I would suggest the number 8 yarns and size 8-10-15mm hooks.
Yes Judy you are correct, it is a Q & Wall- Mart does carry it. I know this due to my daughter just bought it for me for me as an early birthday/wedding anniversary gift & it came in a set of 3. Blessed Be to all

The light blue crochet hook is Q (75mm) , and the darker blue one is P (10mm)
Or you simply use your fingers ;)
Krystal Lane thanks for the advice u sure know your crotchet sizes 😉🖒
Csilla Kaltenecker how would you use your fingers?
Csilla Kaltenecker How do you do that with fingers??? Please show us because here in Brasil 🇧🇷 we can't find this number hook ☹️☹️
Look up on youtube how to finger crochet. Quite useful.
Hello Nadia just got me a set of hook 15,75mm and i 'am doing it!!!!! Thank-you for your time i love those, hand warmers!!!

My granddaughter was sitting with me and half the things she wanted till she saw this and said Nana I have to have that, please please make it for me. So I am working on it in her purple color. LOL
Yes, it is a Q hook - 15 mm 😊 I love your tutorials Nadia...
Thank you.
Do you know why it’s call “lazy hook”?
Just made this in pinks, grays, and black. So gorgeous!!!
For everyone who needs it. The light blue hook is a size Q, 17-15.75mm, the smaller one of it is a size P, 16-11.5mm
This was awesome! I thought it was going to be too complex for me, but your instructions were clear. Thank you!
I love your tutorials! So much fun and so easy to follow along! Thank you for your artistry and talent.
i made 2 one these colors and one old school for my sister and her daughter. they loved them.
Smaller grey hook is us size P 11.5mm and the bigger blue one is us size Q 15.75mm for the cheshire cat hood tutorial.
You are such an artist, and have took this craft to a whole new level with this pattern! The color combo's are gorgeous! I think I'm going to be this for Halloween this year. 😁

I love this hoodie. it's awesome. I made it for my daughter pink black white and purple.
I'm a super beginner and you made this so easy to follow along I made this without any problems thanks for the pattern ☺

I love the colors that you are using and it is very beautiful
I just finished making the hood and it looks amazing. I'm going to be the Cheshire Cat this year
Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us I will post a photo of hers soon =D
I have to make another one for her friend they are both dressing up as 2 versions of the Cheshire cat for Halloween =D
Btw, I used an 8mm hook. Definitely takes more time but I love how it turned out :)
Thankyou so much! I made mine LSU Tiger colors for me and my granddaughter one just like yours! you made this Super easy to do.
I made one in shades of brown. Turned out beautiful.
Thank you so much! I'm done making my 3rd. I made one exactly like your colors, and 2 all black!! love it
That's awesome! Sounds like you're on a roll! Great job!! Keep up the good work!! ~Nadia
Thank you!!
What crochet hook did you use? I see different replies on here and from what I'm gathering it's a 15.76-16 mm Q?
No I used a size P 12mm
Good to know thank you. I have a P and don't have to go out and buy Q lol
i shared this video and ended up with 4 orders for the hat and that doesn't include the 3 im already going to do this week.
Your video is so well done and instructions are perfect and easy to understand
Can I ask, how fast you could manage?:) Im also planning to do it, but I have too many things on my list :D And Im short of time. Thanks

Hi, this is a wonderful job. I was wondering what the approximate meassure of the rectangle is? Keep the good work!!
I learned something! Foundation double crochet stitches! Reminds me of tunisian crochet actually, pretty cool :) love your channel
Never doubke crochet foundation chain like this! Thank yoi for showing a new technique to me! Love this good! 😍😍
Love it!!! Thanks so much! Will be Xmas gifts for my nieces and nephew!!
SWEET!!! Can't wait to try making this outfit for Halloween
Love this tutorial and can't wait to make mine.
I got the same 3 pack I think. My hook that size is P 16-11.5mm. The larger plastic hook is Q 16-16.00mm. The smaller one was aluminum size L /11-8.00mm.
U did remarkably good explaining it! Wow , keep
It up gal;) going to try it out after Christmas and go get all the yarn!
I love your stuff you make! You go out of the box! You are awesome!
Love your creation! Be blessed
I got that same pack of 3 hooks and that light blue book was a Q 15.75 mm
I tried making this but had different yarn to work with so it came out a bit different and I didnt add the braid tassels in the front but it still came out super cute!. Hoping I can put up some pics of it on pinterest sometime soon.
Hey Nadia, you are awesome and thank you so much for your tutorials
i love your tutorials it’s so easy to follow. can you please do a tutorial for a octopus hat?
I'm so going to try this for Yule so my eldest and youngest can match 😍 thank you so much for sharing this
Beautiful Cat Hoodie I love it.
I love your cat hat
Hi Nadia,
Does the first chain 3 in your foundation DC row count as 1 stitch in the 40 FDCs?
This was so much fun to make!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
this is absolutely gorgeous 💖thank you so much for sharing will definitely be trying this just hope it turns out as great as yours 😊
Your amazing and I love your tutorials. I am definitely making this hoodie. Thank you so much
so excited. can't wait to do this project.. Thank You for such a fabulous tutorial
Thank you loved it just finished mine you explain so well
to do the fuz on top of the ears. a cat brush works reallllly well to make them fluffy
I have a size Q hook and mine reads “Q/16mm” (but mine is a Susan Bates Luxite (meaning “plastic”) hook)! 🧡
Thank you for sharing this! But as I live in France and we have a different sizing system of hooks and yarns, my work is not so like yours. So for those in France, I would suggest the number 8 yarns and size 8-10-15mm hooks.
awesome just made this is a different color set. cant can't wait to make a bunch more! much easier then it looked!
Your set looks simular to the BOYE: XL Jumbo pack I found while looking for a 11.5mm hook. (8 mm, 11.5mm and a 15.75mm hook) Love the video btw. :3
Thank you for the free pattern your a
Awesome 😎 this video is so easy to catch on thank you 😊
the hook is a Q you can find it at Wal Mart :-)
Yes Judy you are correct, it is a Q & Wall- Mart does carry it. I know this due to my daughter just bought it for me for me as an early birthday/wedding anniversary gift & it came in a set of 3. Blessed Be to all
Thank you so much for your hard work!!!!
Beautiful job.
