Cameron a has the best pomp on UA-cam
Yeah, this pomp looks like a rock
+YTG SPEEDY he should just call it a quiff because that's all it really is
+Amie Compton so you don't like him then
oskey o Cameron goes for classic pomps while James and Harrison go more or so for modern pomps.
oskey o no madman or krypic art has the best pompadour!
Do a review on nail clippers.
I feel as if your not a fan of the Suavecito Pomades. The title itself pretty much gave it away. I was really looking forward this video.
So...you were just looking for a positive review?
Abraham Silva If you look at his much older videos, you'll see that he grew up with Suavecito. He loves the brand as it was his first real pomade and used it for years. But over the past year, there has been many products that advertised what the Premium did, and they do it better. This product is in his honest opinion, a disappointment. If they released it at the time they gave him samples over a year ago, this stuff would have been ground breaking and his favorite. But he is criticizing it heavily for good reason.
Kinda was or at least not starting off and ending on a negative note. I follow you on UA-cam and Instagram cause I believe what you say is right. Like many I ordered mine on Friday why? Why not, it's cheap and I'm willing to check it out. Like your vids tho thanks for making these for us. First time me posting thanks for responding.
+Abraham Silva yeah I appreciate that he takes the time to do the videos but it's like he was in a bad mood. He can not like the pomade but he was practically rolling his eyes the whole time and just didn't care. James, you can have a video where you say the pomade is shit, but don't make a video that is shitty to watch. I watch all of your videos but this was the first time that you really came off as arrogant. Just some constructive criticism. Thanks for making the reviews.
I used to be a huge fan of yours, but I don't know anymore. Over the past year and a half or so you have become far too biased in favor of artisan pomades. If there was a Lockhart's label on this pomade, and a Suavecito label on the Lockhart's waterbased for example, your reviews would have been much different.... Please go back to your unbiased and objective reviews and stop riding homebrewers just because they are homebrewers.
they made this pomade to have a more natural look not to hold on better or anything like that
This dude really doesn't have a tolerance for stupidity. The world needs more people like this dude.
The, I need to wash my hair look at the end. LOL
having the positives of both water/oil base products and no negatives like Suavecito states is everything I've always wanted in a pomade. just tried it today ( still on my hair haven't showered yet) and to be honest it feels like a medium hold oil base. I highly doubt this pomade will hold up a half day. it really feels like a grease product because it hasn't hardened at all yet.if it washes off like they say I will be surprised. it will really boils down to where you're going and what type of weather etc etc. honestly I'll always be a oil based guy by heart cause I just feel oil base products just get a better shape/form , but because I work in a kitchen and that I live in a desert I'm forced to use a water base. getting off topic. SPB is an ok pomade . I think the whole oil/water thing is a gimmick. I will stick to dax g&g or reuzel pink if I want grease and bona fide SS if I want water base.
+mike poblete It's not a gimmick. Check the video's description for alternatives that actually does what Suavecito failed to do with this product. They have a big name, but several smaller companies have been making new kinds of water based in the past year and beat Suavecito long ago to the punch. There are in fact water based that are as good as an oil-based. They're malleable and they don't dry up into a helmet. More specifically, they're called unorthodox water-based. The traditional water-based that are more rampant in the market are known as orthodox water-based which dry up like a gel.
Well produced video . Thanks for being really detailed .
I don't know if this is relevant, but I feel like Suavecito Firme Hold isn't as strong as it was before. It's quite disappointing.
That title though... Interesting way to describe it.
Weren't you pretty happy with x and y when you reviewed it before?
TheQsanity They probably changed the formula since then.
DisturbedKoala TheQsanity They didn't change the formula. It's all about context and what the market has to offer at the time. It's kinda like using an iPod back ten years ago versus using it now. Impressive back then. Basic now.
The Pomp So they literally did simply choose to release it later than everyone else? I don't get it. O_o
Suavecito is actually really good and people are just starting to get mad just because there pomade is not popular like Suavecito I'm a pomade collector and I've been using Suavecito before it was popular and when people started to notice it I wasn't because it means its great due to the amount of popularity don't get me wrong there are tons of better pomades but Suavecito definitely holds his own
will you change your sidepart style? it looks odd.
Suavecito is for thick hair, aguitado
Murray's recently came out with their own water based pomade, would you consider doing a review on it?
Any chance you'll be reviewing pomades from Dreadnought, 18.21 Man Made, and Whiskey Wax any time in the near future?
I want a pomade that gives me a natural shine, and also doesn't get mess up when I'm sweating, if anybody can answer me I'll be glad.
2 words, black ship
Yo James, Nice Review!
I have one question: Currently I'm looking for a new wb pomade. My local barber carries this one and the new reuzel blue. Which one do you think will be better? As a side note, this one is far more expensive (20Euro) than the reuzel (14E)
If I may suggest, I'd say Reuzel Blue. A different reviewer I like posted his review on Blue just last night and is even doing a giveaway for the product. Check out "Cameron A" ... but the sad news is that at the end of the month he'll be gone for 2 years on a mission in Africa.
Best pomade/gel for a sidepart? Want a slick strong hold. Have soft straight 'manipulatable' hair.
Griffith Water based or Oil?
Griffith I also have straight hair actually. A pomade I love is Black Ship from Flagship Pomade Co. You can buy some on Hedgelion.
Joshua Smith Don't matter tbh
DisturbedKoala Thanks.
I've been using suavecito pomade for a year or two and i always have breaks in my hair and it doesn't last all day. Will any uppercuts pomade give me better results?
I get information if there are two version of suavecito premium blend, is it right ? .This is clay and the other is a pomade, is it right ?
Good review james
the pomp self given name hated Suavecito and later on made a video were he gave it a second try and liked for whatever reason maybe he secretly liked and made a video saying he wants to give a second d try pomade was originally to style your hair I love oil based pomades but I feel its a trend to hate certain pomades like people hating water based and such
can anyone tell me if petroleum based pomade will work for me, I use a waterbased clay right now, I shower everyday, but only shampoo/condition once or twice a week as I don't wanna strip my natural oils, I really don't wanna use dish water soap to get rid of the pomade or take multiple hair washes a day, I don't mind having some product left over from the day before, I was thinking of buying uppercut monster hold, will it work or should I stick with waterbased?
sorry I'm new to oil based and wanna start using it
Xenios9 You aren't going to wash it out after one shower. It's just not happening. Just get used to having build up it honestly isn't that bad and it helps you style your hair the next day. I actually really like oil bases because build up is a blessing in disguise.
+Julio Henry Unless you got that curly hair, build up will mess it up like crazy.
***** In my understanding of others experiences, that is not always the case. Some pomades have differing build up characteristics which can range from good to terrible. It depends on the product whether it's a good build up or not. But that aside, the product I recommended to Xenios9 on the other comment for his wavy hair was Black Ship because it's an unorthodox water based that behaves like oil-based yet is easy to wash out.
DisturbedKoala
THanks for the reply. I'll have to try the Black Ship if I can get my hands on them in Europe. The one thing I want is to straighten my curls, and keep it like that for at least 5-6 hours.
Is that unorthodox pomade?
I've been styling a pomp for a while now, but no matter what pomade I use, it always collapses after only about an hour, and I have to constantly restyle throughout the day. Am I styling wrong? I don't use shitty pomades I have reuzel green, pumps not dead original, and dax wave and groom. I also have suavecito but it hardens up too much for me and I can't get a good shape. I have hair similar to James', I have long straight fine hair, but I think it is much denser than James'.
Use a blow dryer with the warm heat setting with a brush. After you're done with that, use the cold air setting which freezes the hair the way you want to.
What's the best pomade to go with for "hold" I love the feel of pomade but I notice most don't hold well. Especially in spots of my hair that stick up. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
Murray's
Hey everyone I was wondering if I could get some help, I have long straight fine hair, quite similar to James' id say, but much denser. I can't find any good pomades that last all day. Maybe I'm applying or styling wrong, but every pomade I have tried will collapse after only an hour or two, just fyi the pomades I have right now are reuzel green, I have dax wave and groom and murrays of course, I even have some that are supposed to have a heavier hold such as railcar supreme hold, suavecito firme, odouds heavy. I know these pomades should have a longer resistance than that but I can't figure out a way to style that works. My hair is about 7 inches long on top, which is probably why, but when it was shorter it wouldn't style at all so idk.
Jacob X That is... really unusual. I have a couple pomade recommendations, but if you're having difficulty even with well known strong holds, then there is more to this than simply product failure. But as for the recommendations, you can try either: Black Ship from Flagship Pomade Co or Lockhart's Goon Grease.
I don't know what else I would advise on this issue though if all of those pomades you mentioned have failed when they're supposed to just work.... I wonder if an oily scalp would affect the performance of the product you're trying.
Jacob X I have an idea. If there's a good barber in your area, ask them if they can do something about the amount of volume in your hair but still keep a good length. Even better yet, ask them what length is best for certain strengths of pomade. They're the experts with this kind of stuff, so they should know how to deal with this. But as I said, it has to be a barber. Not a salon place.
Are there any water-based pomades with low to medium shine and decent hold? Most pomades seem to be to shiny for my hair, looks to greasy for my taste.
suavecito firme. low to med shine with a strong hold.
Black Ship from Flagship pomade co. It's an unorthodox water based with strong hold and looks healthy. Plus it actually is healthy unlike gel pomades.
Hey Pomp can you try out Rockriver Hair Supply Pomade and make a review on it
Davey A Just looked up that pomade, and it kind of reminds me of Doc Elliott Pure Pomade which is a healthy oil-based.
+DisturbedKoala Have you ever used Doc Elliott, if so was it any good?
Davey A Absolutely. Despite all the innovations in pomade being created in the past year, Doc Elliott's pomade remains as one of my personal top favorites. Unfortunately they only have a medium hold thus far, but still a great product. I use the black tin which has a refined masculine scent. And I've had compliments from several whenever I wore it, even from an ex. lol
+DisturbedKoala lol, thanks for the replies it really helped
Rockriver sent me a free can and honestly it might be my favorite product to use, especially when my hair gets long. It gives me just what I'm looking for every time with minimal effort.
for thick and straight hair which is best out of o'douds, Rustin, shear revival and anchors?
Not shear revival, it's a beautiful product but it's got a medium / light hold abs the endurance isn't as strong. New o'douds water based formula is stronger now
Momo Marmar I'd vote for O'Douds Water Based.
+DisturbedKoala thanks
goon grease or uppercut monster hold, which has the stronger hold, best for wavy hair
Xenios9 Was about to reply to your other comment when I noticed you mentioned here your hair type. lol If you don't want to use some strange method to get the product out, try a new water-based that some people with wavy hair have come to like as well. It's called Black Ship from Flagship Pomade Co. You can get it either on Etsy or Hedgelion. And considering you mentioned your worry for keeping your hair's natural oils, I think Black Ship is in your best interest considering the healthy ingredients it contains as opposed to the products you mentioned.
But of the two you mentioned, the easiest choice is Lockhart's Goon Grease.
+DisturbedKoala Thx bro.
+DisturbedKoala are any of those water based?
***** Black Ship is an unorthodox water based. But Goon Grease and Uppercut Monster Hold are petro/wax.
yes, monster hold by uppercut is great for hair removal.
Could anyone give me some advice please? I'm finding it hard to choose between suavecito premium, blue reuzel and layrite cement, regarding my needs for strong hold and easily washed. Thank you.
Muhammad Ghiffari Between those three, the strongest hold is Layrite Cement. But it's worth noting that although it is easy to wash out, it's not as smoothly easy to wash out as a gel pomade because it's a clay. While Reuzel Blue has a stronger hold in comparison to Suavecito Premium, it's because it is a gel pomade (and in terms of the average strong hold, it's not on par). But I can suggest alternatives.
If you're looking for something with stronger hold (and a good scent like the ones you mentioned), then try things like: Admiral Classic Pomade from Admiral Supply Co *or* Black Ship from Flagship Supply Co.
Although of the two I just suggested, Admiral Classic washes out easiest.
You need either layrite superhold or maybe something like Admiral heavy
But if you're looking for something matte layrite cement is pretty decent for controlling wavy hair
Thank you for the advices :)
+Muhammad Ghiffari Welcome sonny
What do you guys recommend for thick, curly hair? I used Suavecito firm hold. I only use it because it straightens out my curls and keeps my hair in place wile I'm at school. I would like to use an oil base but I don't have much time to restyle at school. Witch oil base do you guys recommend?
fausto arzate The easiest oil-based recommendation is Lockhart's Goon Grease. But if you want to try something new and that's easy to wash out (because it's water-based), try Black Ship from Flagship Pomade Co.
As a fellow curly haired dude, goon grease is great and takes the waves
+Chris Rodriguez tames*
Chris Rodriguez Takes kinda fits... lol
+Chris Rodriguez oil based pomades mess up the hair after showering cause it stays in. i.e Your curls van get messier
hey man, what brand and style of glasses are those?
did you find out because I want to know as well
What's a good hold pomade for thick and wavy hair?
ZinjeiSoDope An Oil-based to try is Lockhart's Goon Grease. But an unorthodox Water-based to try is Black Ship from Flagship Pomade Co.
DisturbedKoala What's the difference between orthodox and unorthodox WB?
iFlawlezZ An orthodox WB is basically a pomade that looks and works like a gel as it dries up . Unorthodox is something typically with a different texture yet doesn't dry. Examples: Layrite Original is an orthodox due to the gel characteristic, while Anchor's Original is unorthodox due to a creamy feeling.
But the pomade I mentioned in my other comment looks and feels more like some kind of wet clay. It works exactly like a mix between water and oil based, where it's easy to wash out yet provides a clean slick and strong hold with some shine, but without a greasy feeling. These kind of pomades are being made by newer companies in the past year or so.
Yea we got it it's water based with oil in it damn hahaha we Found out the first 10 times lol
3:34 - 3:45 ur left hand ok m8?🤣😘
Can anyone recommend a pomade or any hair product for styling the hair when doing physical activity? I always wondered how professional footballers keep their hair looking perfect throughout the whole game
benjalazo I would definitely pick a gel pomade or water based. Uppercut deluxe, I've found, keeps things really tight.
benjalazo Try the Admiral Classic Pomade from Admiral Supply Co.
Basically any firm hold from traditional pomaded such as Layrite and suavecito
Chris Rodriguez Yeah basically any orthodox WB as they're gels. But not unorthodox WB as they're meant to mimic oil-based.
I wouldn't use a wb pomade if you're gonna be sweating, unless you like the chemicals running down your face and into your eyes. I would look into a heavy hold oil base or a heavy unorthodox water base pomade like grim grease.
what's a good pomade for wavy hair ???
goone grease
+Jordan Cline I just bought goon grease hope it's good
Suavecito....What Crap will they Make Next
Your mom
lol Robbie, you're pissing off those middle school kids that Pomp mentioned.
+DisturbedKoala dude im a highschool student and i wasn't pissed and i've never used suavecito I just don't like the way the pomp describe this pomade because I think this will be a start for suavecito to develop better things in the future (sorry for my bad grammar)
Ali Ladd (I don't mind the grammar as long as I can read it.) But uh, I wouldn't expect a "your mom" joke from a high schooler. Maybe it's just me being 27 now.
Anyways, I think Pomp was right to criticize it the way he did. When the creative minds behind the product sees that people are upset with the performance of their product, they are likely to reformulate to improve. And there has been times when something Pomp said affected the status of a pomade.
+DisturbedKoala well maybe you're right but still i think this may be an improvement for suavecito to make a better product in the future i hope
dag Yo. the Macdonald 's premium salad lol!
nice
the tin is aluminum stupid.
What's that thing on your head? Is this what you call your hair? HAHAHAHAHAHA
what's a good pomade for wavy hair ???
lockharts goone grease
+Jordan Cline Goon grease is my life
+simon hoel its my go to heavy over anything in the world
Jordan Cline Try Sweet Georgia Brown Blue. It's really good, great shine for such a heavy pomade.
+Daniel McComb If you are looking a water based pomade for wavy hair, I'd recommend Flagship Pomade. Their black ship or "The Insubmersible" pomade is pretty good.
