Born in Houston and raised in Detroit, Lizzo adopted her moniker in 2011 and fronted Lizzo & the Larva Ink after moving to Minneapolis. Her work began to intertwine with the city's indie scene, allowing her to work with artists like Gayngs and Doomtree.
Since then, Lizzo has collaborated with a variety of creatives--Clean Bandit, Bastille, and Big Freedia, to name a few--and was named one of Forbes Magazine's 2018 "30 Under 30". Her top singles "Good As Hell" and "Truth Hurts" have gained over 34.5 million Spotify streams combined. In addition to headlining her own Good As Hell tour in 2017, Lizzo joined Haim on the Sister Sister Sister tour in 2018.

Lizzo studied to be a classical flutist, and I love how this gets referenced in her video. Also, as a former band geek (although we didn't have this band's style), I find this particularly delightful.
I wish they gave her a chance to shed a flute solo. Seeing her hold it, but not play it was low-key a bit frustrating.

joseph2ne yea fr almost always marching bands are used as more robot like props. I’m in band going on 7 years and I don’t think we’ve ever not goofed off like this at least once. It’ was so nice to see in a music video. And the part where they were helping the girls that kept messing up/was upset was so sweet to me that they included it for the Sax and the Dancer go Lizzo what kinda queen is she have graced us

I and several of my friends are recently really suffering from life's seemingly endless challenges and a couple of us just "discovered" Lizzo (OK, sorry late train, but I'm not in the core demo). Damn, I have found my spirit angel. Sure go to the therapy, but if you are looking for concentrated messages of self-love and hope feelings, delivered with such authenticity and creativity, I just don't think you can do better than her. I love the representation of all the “geeky” clubs I was in choir all throughout middle school and highs school and it was such an amazing experience. Lizzo is the reason I'm finally breaking out of my rut when it comes to clothes. I've been wearing all dark colors (black leggings/track pants and either black, navy or gray shirts) for years because I'm heavy and I feel like they make my size less noticeable. Thanks to Lizzo's confidence and irrepressible joy in life, I got the guts to order some brightly colored leggings (sparkly rainbow ombre and pastel ombre).

No offense, but there isn't much "diversity" in this video. There's a lot of representation, sure, but it sure as hell isn't "diverse" if it's only populated by one ethnicity - which it is.
I do love the whole band aspect, though. Not a fan of her music, but I did think this video was fun (before anyone asks why I'm here if I don't like her music, it's because I wanted to expose myself more to it and see if my opinion changed. It didn't; I personally don't really gravitate to music like this, although I can appreciate the amount of effort that went into it).
